Questions :) I’m sorry for spelling mistake in advance.

1. What is studying close to nature like?

Studying close to nature does not seem to inspire other kids in the school but not me. I really
like being here because of the obviously scientific fact that you are breathing fresh air and
having a nice organized mind. But there are more benefits to it. Like, one time I had to create
a Haiku poem for literature class and I had no inspiration. Until, I looked outside my window
and noticed fresh snow luminating of reflected sunlight, being blown layer by layer to
another place, to another shape. That, was my inspiration. Nature has so much things to offer
for you, even if it is just a normal, typical homework. Other benefits are that if no kids make
any rackets in the dorm, it is very peaceful and quiet, whereas when I am in the city, I can
hear some drunkards compare their pp shape and such.

2. What’s having a roommate like? Any struggles?

Yes, we do have struggles. A lot of struggles. We are literally sharing a room so that means
we are also sharing the same prize and punishment. Just imagine you and your friend bean
clean and neat, ready to get your phone until that one mf is too lazy or selfish to clean up so
your whole room do not get our devices. This is just one simple and surface-scratching
struggles. One of the deepest is if someone is caught with illegal item and the whole room is
involved, or a furniture or installation breaks down and roommates try to blame each other to
not pay for the fixing. So, I would basically say first-time in this school, with your
dormmates, everyone will be selfish and bring a ton of troubles. But years of it, like me,
whose 3rd year in this school, you will learn to communicate, adapt and agree with whatever
roommate you get. The reason why we even get roommates is that so we can learn how to
adapt live with others whose opinions and preferences are different from yours, so you and
them have to learn to get along. I really want to say that having a dormmate is the best way to
hone your social skills.

3. Can you bring your own devices to class? Like personal laptops and tablets?
Yes, we can. But only laptop and tablets which you have guessed correctly. However, you
can only bring devices to allowed classes such as ICT, Social studies occasionally, Business
studies and etc. It is also a high school students’ exclusive feature. As long as we don’t sleep
the night away with our laptops, we can access to it whenever we want, which right now I’m
answering your questions. Nowadays, sadly, even middle school kids are bringing their
laptops and tablets and it’s somehow allowed. They should be taught how to wash their socks
instead, if you haven’t smelled 3rd floor. Anyway, our usage of our devices just keeps getting
more and more confusing, it’s strict from a perspective, but also free from another viewpoint.

4. Does the school have internet?

Yes, our school does have access to internet. One problem, is that our school is really far
away from any nearest services (nearest service is a km and half away and it’s a police
outpost) so our internet can be bad at times. But when it is at it’s peak, such as right now, all
the kids are sleeping so I’m the only one on the dorm’s router and the speed is about 80
mbps. We installed glass antennas, which is said to be the best Wi-Fi router tech available in
Mongolia. I’m not sure if it’s better than the Starlink you mentioned earlier though. So yeah,
we do have very good internet at school, the problem is that hundreds of people are using the
same routers that’s all…

5. What kind of entertainment do you have there?

This is a really nice question for diverse answers, so I will only speak of entertainment-
purposed things because humans could be entertained from anything. If you have noticed, we
have dartboard and a table tennis in here, 4th floor. It is because we are high school students
and supposedly “deserve” these exclusive entertainments. But most of us have laptops and
tablets so we just sit around and use our devices. There are times when we aren’t allowed to
access our devices, which then, also creates a timely opportunity to do our hobby or the best
claimed entertainment in this school – homework. I’m sure I do not need to speak of
entertainments at school, not dorm. We hold events there, like parties, tournaments and such.
If you don’t recall anything, remember what your tour guide said about when I made the
diddy party joke. (Ik it was absolutely horrendous)

6. How many events happen there?

Funny thing is, that we have a calendar for every type of events that will be held in the school
for the whole academic year and it’s actually very accurate (Unless if the education ministry
does smth). We have family days which we attend bunch of activities in a “station” manners,
which is like a train circling around. Then we got sports events which are one of the fiercest
things to ever happen in the year like, what do you mean some kids had to steal from the
buffet (snack shop) because they couldn’t handfeed the athletes? There are some funny and
unbelievable things going around the school. But hey, that’s what makes TBS so special.
Anyway, then we got educational events like when classes invite a famous person they
personally know to speak in front of the whole school (wider range of talk tuah, it’s called
TBS talk). And lastly, we got recognition day where one kid is recognized by each teachers
individually for their improvements and hardwork, so that makes about 15 kids per month,
and then we got birthday straight after the recognition day event which, speaks for itself. It
was created because kids always missed their own birthdays because of school, so it’s like a
compensation.

7. Are the dorms separated by class? (e.g, 10 is on the right wing, 11 is on the left
wing)
Well, partially. We are actually divided by each floor. 2nd floor got all the girls in the school.
However, the left wing of the dorm got middle school girls and the right wing high school
girls. Moving to the 3rd floor It’s just purely middle school kids but since strating from 9th
grade we get the high school exclusive feature of using laptops or tablets, the 9th grade
students are in the right wing of the dorm while the rest is PACKED in the left wing. Lastly,
4th floor which, like I mentioned earlier, are high school boys. 10th graders, which are us,
were supposed to be on the leftmost rooms of the dorm. However, we were temporarily in 3rd
floor then 4th floor so we had no other choice but move the right wing. I’m sure you realized,
that the room I’m in is the only 10th grade room that is separated from our class. Don’t get me
wrong, I’m complimenting the fact rather than complain. Dorm problems for our class isn’t
linked to us, we got the best Wi-Fi of the whole school it’s pretty warm here – It’s nice.

8. What if your school supplies run out?

Believe me, it will never run out (unless if we are bankrupt). Have you noticed 3 Mongol
Ger-like houses uphill the dorm? That’s the storage room for our school supplies. But let’s
say it did run out for the fun of the question. We already have it calculated and got a whole
bunch for workers just to bring supplies to out school. It’s unfortunate we couldn’t let you
guys see our school van – It’s really big but it was gone to buy printer inks. We mostly don’t
experience supply scarcity since the van is gone before the supply is even 60%. However,
supplies like water for heating, electricity and coffee does run out sometimes. It’s harsh
really, when there’s no electricity, there’s no heating, no water purifier, some raw soup for
dinner and no coffee :< But the electricity problem is on Nalaikh, not us since we pay for it
before the deadline.

9. What is the most memorable event that happens there?

I would say Art Festival (Урлагийн үзлэг) since we have unique talents to show. I’m sure
you guys already expect dancing, singing, chorus, and acting. But we also got fashion show
(LOOK UP FROM OUR SCHOOL FB PAGE, THE FASHION IS ABSOLUTELY JAW
DROPPING, TRUST ME) and reels. The fashion one is so like, I don’t even have the words
to describe it properly, but it is stupidly insane! Ahem… anyway, the memorable part is
when we are practicing not the final results – You know what they say, enjoy the process.
We also have March 8th and march when again? When it’s soldiers’ day, the opposite gender
of that day has to create fun activities, snacks and such for the other gender – I shouldn’t
really speak about it, I sincerely apologize for it…

10. Any international students?

I mean, you could say that, because we don’t have any foreign student here but we do have
inner Mongolian students and they absolutely annihilate us in grades. Then we have our
Indian teacher, Faisal Zi Jah’s daughter that sometimes comes here to give Cambridge
exams. I would also apologize on this one, but we don’t have any answers, but one thing I
know for sure is that now 8th grade class is expecting a student from New Zealand because
my father’s friend, whose also from New Zealand said he might send his kid to this school.
So, the answer is no. We, according to technical, have no international students, but we are
expecting one in the future (Inner Mongolians students were actually just born there, but
raised here in Mongolia.)

11. Any wildlife strolling around?

Yes, we do have some small animals running around like squirrels and mice. And mice, I
actually mean them, not the rodent rats. We actually had 3 cats here 2 years ago and only 1
last year, now none… We also had a family of crows nested around our dorm entrance but
the staff sprayed water and kicked the family away – Our school does like wildlife, but not
inside our fences, for some reason…

12. What school system do you guys use there? (I know the answer, but the question
is there lmao)
I see you know the answers. Then I believe I can speak briefly here. We have Cambridge
Curriculum here but that doesn’t mean we don’t follow the national education system. This is
actually really complicated manner like, when I asked this question to our school’s
Cambridge pathway teacher then she handed me exactly 78 pages of pure text, no image and
told me to read it all. Fun fact – We are full of exams and I will now list them, starting from
8th grade.

8th – Cambridge Lower secondary checkpoint exam

9th – National TVET (суурь боловсрол) exam
10th – Cambridge IGCSE and O level exam
11th – AS/A level exam
12th – TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, ЕЭШ, and many other exams. (HSK available in every grade)

13. 11

14. How good is the food?

The food here is actually very delicious, to the point where the school lunch joke is not fit for it.
We have variety of dishes; professional chefs and our nutrition is actually pretty calculated and
the foods are given to us accordingly. One weird thing though, is the food combination. I know
they are trying to give our daily nutrients and also serve delicious dishes, I’m grateful but I can’t
just eat spicy cucumbers salad with raisin rice (It was literally our breakfast for the day when you
guys came). But other than that, it feels as if we are in a restaurant only if some kids don’t
scream and yell or break the plates and mugs.

15. Is studying in a boarding school hard?

Now this, is the question I receive from every single one of those strange ladies that claim to
have my ahh wiped or smth, So I’m ready to answer.
Yes, it can be very difficult when someone you know dear isn’t there to help you and you’re
basically all on your own. When you come to this school the first time, it will be very
overwhelming – the events, homework, some extra assignments and such. Most kids transfer
away after the first year. We also can’t deny the fact that we do have peer bullying and other
peer problems. Being in this school actually, like ACTUALLY means you’re on your own
since you have to look after your belongings so that some kids wouldn’t steal, do your
homework in time, personal hygiene and lot more things.
But despite the fact that there are lots of difficulties in our school, it comes with a nice prize. I
have noticed that, new kids, who claim themselves that their education and general grade history
is poor, drastically improves after arriving here. The reason how is that first, we are living
basically next to our teachers so we have more connection to them, like friends. And secondly,
like I keep mentioning, is that you’re on your own. So you learn time management, and also how
to study – for example, our school encourages the students to develop their own learning style as
long as it doesn’t disrupts the others, so we got more advantage and fast learning and stuffs.
One of the exemplary is me. I used to be really poor at education when I was 7th grade and
used to study at a public school. I was kinda enclosed, stupid kid of the class like, you could
say the quiet kid except he is not smart, nor a mastermind but just sleeps his days away. But
ever since I came to this school, my academics improved a lot.
So, in summary, it is very hard to be on your own at first. But as time goes by, you become
independent and everything will feel nice, to the point you will start missing the old times. So,
my answer as a 3rd year student here, no. It’s not hard for me, but it could vary on different kids.

Well, here are all my answers, this file now has about 2500 words LMAO
