disjoined letters (Huruf-e-Muqattaat). Also named with these letters It’s
meanings are known to Allah alone. It has 8 Ruku’s. The position of this Surah
is at Juz’ or Para No. 16. According to the Qur’anic order, its 20th surah.
Mostly mentioned topics are Tawheed, the Prophethood and the Hereafter. Things
related to Prophet Musa (A.S.) are mentioned a lot.
طه-1
1. Ta-Ha.
[These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their
meanings.]
2. We have not sent down the Qur'an unto you (O Muhammad ) to cause you distress,
ت ْالعُلَى
ِ س َم َاوا َ ت َِنزيال ِم َّم ْن َخلَقَ األ َ ْر-4
َّ ض َوال
4. A revelation from Him (Allah) Who has created the earth and high heavens.
5. The Most Beneficent (Allah) Istawa (rose over) the (Mighty) Throne (in a manner that suits
His Majesty).
6. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is on the earth, and all that is between
them, and all that is under the soil.
EXPLANATION:
( سِر: Secret) means something which a man hides in his heart and which is not known to anyone
ٰ (what is more hidden) means a thought which has not even formed in his mind
else and ) اخفی
and will take shape later on. Allah is fully aware of what ideas a man conceals in his heart at a
particular moment and what thoughts he will entertain in the future, while the person concerned
himself does not know what thoughts will come to his mind in the days to come.
8. Allah! La ilahla illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! To Him belong the
Best Names.
EXPLANATION:
In the earlier verses, reference was made to the greatness of the Qur’ an and also to the
reverence due to the Holy Prophet ﷺ. Thereafter, the story of Musa ( )عليہ السالمhas been related
so that the Holy Prophet ﷺshould become fully aware of the trials and tribulations which afflict
the prophets in the discharge of their missions, and which were rendered with courage and
fortitude by the earlier prophets. This was to prepare the Holy Prophet ﷺfor the great mission
which was entrusted to him.
10. When he saw a fire, he said to his family: "Wait! Verily, I have seen a fire, perhaps I can
bring you some burning brand therefrom, or find some guidance at the fire."
EXPLANATION:
It was winter season and a cold night when Musa (A.S) was on his way to Egypt with his
family. He was unfamiliar of the route and was in need of a guidance, concerning the direction
of his journey. He tried to strike fire with flint but did not succeed. In this state of utter
confusion, he saw light on the Tur mountain which, in fact, was the Nur (the light symbolizing
the Truth). So, he said to his family, "I have noticed fire. I am going there to bring for you a
live coal and I may also find someone who could tell me the way to Egypt." But instead of this
it was his good fortune that he found the guidance to the right way.
According to some traditions there was a servant with him who is also addressed. Others say
that there were some other companions also who were separated when they lost their way.

ْ َما آ َمن-6
6. Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them
(though We sent them signs), will they then believe?
7. And We sent not before you (O Muhammad ) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the
people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not
know.
EXPLANATION:
It means Allah sent His prophets and messengers, they all were men and human beings. Not a
single prophet or messenger was other than man. So, this verse negates that messengers and
prophets were neither women nor angels or any other creature. They also got revelation to
guide their nation. If the pagans and disbelievers they are unaware of it. Then they should
confirm it from the people who have the knowledge of the scriptures like Torah and Injeel. So,
the people should contact the scholars of Shariah if they want to ask and confirm any thing in
which they are in doubt. So they should ask the Jews and Christians who have the knowledge
of the heavenly books whether the previously prophets and messengers were human beings and
men or not. They will tell them the reality.
8. And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they
immortals.
EXPLANATION:
They were human beings who ate and drank like all other people, and they went to the
marketplaces to earn a living and engage in business; that did not affect them adversely or
reduce their status in any way, as the idolators imagined.
9. Then We fulfilled to them the promise, and We saved them and those whom We willed, but
We destroyed Al-Musrifun (i.e. extravagants in oppression, polytheism and in sin).
َ بَ ْل ت َأْتِي ِهم بَ ْغتَةً فَت َ ْب َهت ُ ُه ْم فَال يَ ْستَطِ يعُونَ َردَّهَا َوال هُ ْم يُن-40

40. Nay, it (the Fire or the Day of Resurrection) will come upon them all of a sudden and will
perplex them, and they will have no power to avert it, nor will they get respite.
EXPLANATION:
(Nay, it will come upon them all of a sudden) means, the Fire or the Day of Resurrection will
come upon them suddenly all at once, i.e. It will take them by surprise. (and will perplex them)
means, it will scare and confuse them, and they will succumb to it in confusion, not knowing
what they are doing. (and they will have no power to avert it) means, they will have no means
of doing so, that they can run away or turn away from it. (nor will they get respite) means, it
will not be delayed for them even for an instant. There will be no escape or ways to escape
from fire and punishment.
41. Indeed (many) Messengers were mocked before you (O Muhammad ), but the scoffers
were surrounded by that, whereat they used to mock.
42. Say: "Who can guard and protect you in the night or in the day from the (punishment of
the) Most Beneficent (Allah)?" Nay, but they turn away from the remembrance of their Lord.
43. Or have they aliha (gods) who can guard them from Us? They have no power to help
themselves, nor can they be protected from Us (i.e. from Our Torment).
44. Nay, We gave the luxuries of this life to these men and their fathers until the period grew
long for them. See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying
borders? Is it then they who will overcome.
EXPLANATION:
The disbelievers, idolators and polytheists of Makkah have been deluded by Our favours and
Our Provisions. They think they are enjoying prosperity and good life as their personal right
and there is none to take it away from them. They have forgotten that there is God above them,
Who is able to make or mar their fortune. How the Idolators are deceived by their long and
luxurious lives in this World, and the explanation of the Truth. Allah explains that they have
been deceived and misled by the luxuries that they enjoy in this world and the long life that
they have been given, so they believe that they are following something good. Then Allah
warns them, (See they not that We gradually reduce the land (in their control) from its outlying
borders means Islam and Muslims are spreading and increasing day by day and the disbelievers
and the disbelief is decreasing).
َعاء ِإذَا َما يُنذَ ُرون ُّ قُ ْل ِإنَّ َما أُنذ ُِر ُكم ِب ْال َو ْحي ِ َوال يَ ْس َم ُع ال-45

45. Say (O Muhammad ): "I warn you only by the revelation (from Allah and not by the
opinion of the religious scholars and others). But the deaf (who follow the religious scholars
and others blindly) will not hear the call, (even) when they are warned [(i.e. one should follow
only the Qur'an and the Sunnah (legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements of Prophet
Muhammad , as the Companions of the Prophet did)].
Surah Al-Furqan is a Makki Surah having 77 verses. It exists in Juz’ or Para No.
18 and 19. Name of Surah Al-Furqan is taken from 1st verse (i.e. its 4th word). It
means “The Criterion” to distinguish between truth and falsehood or good and
evil. It has 6 Ruku’s. According to the Qur’anic order, its 25th Surah.
Mostly mentioned topics are Affirmation of Fundamental Beliefs of Islam and a
reply to the Objections of the Infidels.
1. Blessed be He, Who sent down the criterion (of right and wrong, i.e. this Qur'an) to His
slave (Muhammad ) that he may be a warner to the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns).
َ ض َولَ ْم يَتَّخِ ذْ َولَدًا َولَ ْم يَ ُكن لَّهُ ش َِريكٌ فِي ْال ُم ْلكِ َو َخلَقَ ُك َّل

2. He to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and Who has begotten
no son (children or offspring) and for Whom there is no partner in the dominion. He
has created everything, and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements.
3. Yet they have taken besides Him other aliha (gods) that created nothing but are
themselves created, and possess neither hurt nor benefit for themselves, and possess no
power (of causing) death, nor (of giving) life, nor of raising the dead.
EXPLANATION:
The ignorance of the pagans is being explained that they left the real Creator, the Master, the
Sovereign King and started worshipping those who cannot even make a wing or feather of a
fly or mosquito but they themselves are created by Allah. They are neither given the power to
benefit or harm anyone even to themselves as well. Instead doing good to others or harming
others or saving others or themselves from any loss or harm. They have no power to give life
or death to anyone even not to themselves. Likewise, they cannot resurrect the dead ones.
It is Allah besides Whom there is no other God or no other Lord. No one should be worshipped
except Him because whatever He wills happens and whatever he does not will does not happen.
He gives life, death and will resurrect on the Day of Judgement. He has no offspring nor
parents, nor equal nor likeness nor rival nor peer. He is pure from Shirk, Wazir, Mashir, Nazir
and offsprings.

4. Those who disbelieve say: "This (the Qur'an) is nothing but a lie that he
(Muhammad ) has invented, and others have helped him at it, so that they have
produced an unjust wrong (thing) and a lie."
EXPLANATION:
(This is nothing but a lie), meaning an untruth. (that he has invented,) meaning the Prophet .
(In fact, they have produced an unjust wrong and a lie.) meaning, they are the ones who are
telling a lie, and they know that it is false, for their own souls know that what they are claiming
is not true.
5. And they say: "Tales of the ancients, which he has written down, and they are dictated
to him morning and afternoon."

42. "He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods), had it not been that we were patient
and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that
is most astray from the (Right) Path!
44. Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they
are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).
EXPLANATION:
Do you think that they listen and have power of understanding, the people who worship their
lust and do forbidden things in Islam, just to satisfy their desire. They do not pay attention
towards the message of Truth. They do not hear the Truth and do not follow Islam. They don’t
have mind. They are not of those who have the power to understand the Truth. They are like
cattle. Nay but they are worse than the cattle. Because they were misled and they were away
from the right path. Cattle only do what they were created to do, but these people were created
to worship Allah Alone without associating partners with Him, but they worship others with
Him, even though evidence has been established against them and Messengers have been sent
to them.

45. Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed, He could have made it

EXPLANATION:
If He willed, He could have made it still then We have made the sun its guide [i.e. after the
sunrise, it (the shadow) squeezes and vanishes at midnoon and then again appears in the
afternoon with the decline of the sun, and had there been no sun light, there would have been
no shadow]
Surah Fatir is a Makki Surah having 45 verses. It’s name is taken from 1st Verse
which means “Originator”. It is also known as Surah Al-Mala’ikah means “The
Angels”. According to the Qur’anic order, its 35th Surah. It’s position in the
Qura’n is at Juz’ or Para No.22. It has 5 Ruku’s.
Mostly mentioned topic is “to invite the polytheists to believe in Tawheed and the
Hereafter”
Important Verses and its Explanation
1. All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the (only) Originator [or the (only) Creator] of the
heavens and the earth, Who made the angels messengers with wings, - two or three or four. He
increases in creation what He wills. Verily, Allah is Able to do all things.
2. Whatever of mercy (i.e.of good), Allah may grant to mankind, none can withhold it, and
whatever He may withhold, none can grant it thereafter. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-
Wise.
3. O mankind! Remember the Grace of Allah upon you! Is there any creator other than Allah
who provides for you from the sky (rain) and the earth? La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right
to be worshipped but He). How then are you turning away (from Him)?
4. And if they belie you (O Muhammad ), so were Messengers belied before you. And to
Allah return all matters (for decision).
5. O mankind! Verily, the Promise of Allah is true. So let not this present life deceive you, and
let not the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allah.
EXPLANATION:
Indeed God's promise of resurrection and of other issues is true. So do not let the life of this
world deceive you from believing in all of that and do not let the deceiver Satan deceive you
concerning God on account of His forbearance and respiting of sinners in this life.

7. Those who disbelieve, theirs will be a severe torment; and those who believe (in the Oneness
of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, theirs will be forgiveness and a
great reward (i.e. Paradise).

8. Is he, then, to whom the evil of his deeds made fair-seeming, so that he considers it as good
(equal to one who is rightly guided)? Verily, Allah sends astray whom He wills, and guides
whom He wills. So destroy not yourself (O Muhammad ) in sorrow for them. Truly, Allah
is the All-Knower of what they do!

9. And it is Allah Who sends the winds, so that they raise up the clouds, and We drive them to
a dead land, and revive therewith the earth after its death. As such (will be) the Resurrection!
10. Whosoever desires honour, power and glory then to Allah belong all honour, power and
glory. To Him ascend (all) the goodly words, and the righteous deeds exalt it (the goodly words
i.e. the goodly words are not accepted by Allah unless and until they are followed by good
deeds), but those who plot evils, theirs will be severe torment. And the plotting of such will
perish.
EXPLANATION:
The one who wants to be recipient of honor, dignity, glory and power then the real Owner and
Giver of it is Allah. Its in Allah’s hands. So to get honor, power and glory its essential to have
firm faith in Oneness of Allah and do good deeds with good intention and have sincerity in
deeds with correct knowledge. This prescription of becoming a recipient of honor is perfectly
true and tested, however, the condition is that one remains constant in remembering Allah and
doing good deeds. When this constancy reaches an appointed limit, Allah blesses the doer of
these with an everlasting and unparalleled honor both in this world and in the world to come.
By obeying Allah’s commands and following the Sunnah of Prophet (S.A.W) one may get
honor. Those who do bad deeds with negative thinking, their all actions and hard work will be
nullified and their planning will be badly failed.
