THEORY:
Paracetamol is a common over-the-counter medication used to relieve pain and reduce fever.
Here's how to interpret the information on a paracetamol tablet:
Strength: The strength of the paracetamol tablet will be indicated, typically in milligrams
(mg). Common strengths include 500 mg or 650 mg. This tells you how much paracetamol is
in each tablet.
Dosage Instructions: The packaging will provide instructions on how to take the tablets,
including the recommended dosage, frequency, and maximum daily dosage. Always follow
these guidelines.
Indications: The packaging should specify what the medication is used for, which is
typically for pain relief and reducing fever.
Uses:
This medication is used for the temporary relief of runny/stuffy nose, watery/itchy eyes, and
itchy throat caused by allergies, hay fever, the common cold, and other breathing illnesses.
This product is usually not used ongoing cough from smoking or long-term breathing
problems (such as chronic bronchitis, emphysema) unless directed by your doctor. The
decongestant treats nasal congestion by narrowing the blood vessels in the nose. The
antihistamine relieves itchy/watery eyes and itchy throat by blocking a substance (histamine)
released by allergies. The anticholinergic dries up a runny nose and the fluid that runs down
your throat causing irritation.
