Icons
The small pictures on the desktop are called icons.
Cursor
An arrow moves on the screen along with the movement
of the mouse. This arrow is called the cursor.

A. The clock shows us the date, day and time.
iii. What is the difference between the taskbar and the
Start button?
A. The long bar at the button of the desktop is called
the taskbar, and the button on the extreme left of the
taskbar is called the Start button.

A. Paint is a program. It is used to create and edit drawings.
It is also used to color the shapes and pictures.
ii. Write down the functions of window control buttons.
A. There are three window control buttons.
a. The Minimize button is used to minimize the win-
dow to task bar.
b. The Restore/Maximize button is used to restore the
window to its previous size and/or to maximize the
window.
c. The Close button is used to close the window.
iii. What is the toolbar? What is its use?
A. The toolbar is a bar containing different tools. These
tools are used to perform different tasks.

A. It is a wide bar below the title bar. It has many tools on

b. Click the Line tool.
c. Draw a line in the drawing area according to the
shapes. Use the Shift key while drawing a line
straight or at an angle of 90˚ or 45˚.
d. Drag the cursor to draw one side of the shape.
e. Point the center of the cursor to one end of the line.
f. Drag the mouse to draw the other line.
g. Draw more lines similarly to complete the shape.

i. Click the oval tool to draw an oval as in the dia-
gram.
j. Save your work and close the program.
k. You can use Ctrl+Z to undo your shapes, you think,
are not correct.
