QUESTIONNAIRE FOR JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL HEAD TEACHERS

Dear Head teacher,

The researcher is investigating the status of science practical lessons in about 59 public Junior

High Schools (JHSs) within the K.E.E.A. Municipality. This questionnaire is therefore designed

to measure and identify the reality on the teaching field to help advance the teaching and learning

process of integrated science.

This questionnaire is addressed to Junior High School (JHS) head teachers of public JHSs in the

K.E.E.A. Municipal, Central Region of Ghana and seeks information about teacher’s academic

and professional backgrounds, instructional resources, instructional practices and the impact of

instructional practices on the outcome of learning. Your responses are very important to help this

study on science practical lessons. Thus, your cooperation to answer all questions, your time,

contribution and the efforts this study takes, will be greatly appreciated.

Teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge on science practical

lessons should be improved through INSETS.

There should be science centres created for clusters of schools

to serve science practical lesson needs.

Head teachers and SISOs must ensure that learners are

22 assessed practically in science during formative and

summative assessments.
