1.What is forensic drug analysis and its role?

Forensic drug analysis is an indispensable tool in addressing drug-related crime. Its ability to provide
objective, scientific evidence not only supports investigations and legal proceedings but also enhances
the understanding of drug-related issues in society.

2.What are the various merhods of conducting qualities and quantitatives analysis of drug specimen?

Qualitative and quantitative analysis of drug specimens can be conducted using methods such as color
tests, thin layer chromatography (TLC), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), infrared
spectroscopy (IR), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), enzyme-linked immunosorbent
assay (ELISA), and mass spectrometry (MS).

3.What are the steps involved in conducting qualitative analysis?

Qualitative analysis of drug specimens involves collecting a sample, conducting preliminary

examinations, selecting and performing tests, comparing results with standards, documenting findings,
interpreting data, and preparing a report.

4.What are the steps involved in conducting quantitative analysis?

Quantitative analysis in forensic drug analysis involves collecting and preparing a sample, selecting an
analytical method, calibrating instruments, conducting the analysis, acquiring and analyzing data,
documenting procedures, and preparing a formal report of findings.

5.Enumerate the various way by which to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis for drug
specimen.

Qualitative analysis methods for drug specimens include color tests, TLC, GC-MS, IR spectroscopy, NMR
spectroscopy, and microscopy, while quantitative methods include HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry, ELISA,
fluorescence spectroscopy, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry.
