    The TR version of the Donkin series 56 has been developed to provide a simple
    and effective method of joining polyethylene pipe to metal or ancillary
    equipment. It is ideal for use in “riser” systems on apartment buildings and can
    be supplied incorporating a wall mounting bracket.
    The valves are manufactured with a female screwed connection at one end and a
    crimp fitting at the other. The crimp joint is made by sliding a copper ring over
    the PE pipe and then pushing the pipe over the valve spigot. Radial force is
    applied to the copper ring using a mechanical hand tool causing the PE to flow
    into the recesses of the spigot.
    Generally in accordance with GBE/PL3 the joint is designed to be stronger than
    the pipe and will resist end load pull out well beyond loads at which polyethylene
    pipe will shear. For security reasons the valve can only be operated by using a
    purposely designed operating key.
