2. PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION OF THE DEVICE
Laser diameter meters ID-30P and ID-70P are designed for non-contact
measurement of the diameter of cables or other products.
measurement process is carried out by the measuring head by means of
laser scanning.
The signal from the measuring head is sent to the remote terminal, where
it is processed and displayed on a graphic display.

6. ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION
4. Ground the measurement head using the PE terminal (Fig. 4, pos. 4).
The grounding conductor cross-section shall be 2.5 - 6 mm²
Avoid routing signal cables near power, motor, high-voltage, or spark tester
cables.
7. Plug the power cord of the measurement head into the power
outlet.
- 17 -
7. OPERATION
Turn on the power switch on the measurement head (Fig. 4, pos. 6). Apply
power to the remote terminal. When you turn on the remote terminal, the
measurement head will also turn on automatically. If the terminal is
turned off, the measurement device is also turned off.

D - actual measured diameter
ΔD - absolute deviation from the nominal diameter
Nom - nominal diameter (setpoint)
Max - upper tolerance limit for the MAX relay
Min - lower tolerance limit for the MIN relay

Example:
[Dnom] = 10mm, [SCALE Vout] = 5mm,
Then:
D = 10mm → AO1 = 0V, AO2 = 5V;
D = 15mm → AO1 = 10V, AO2 = 10V;
D = 5mm → AO1 = -10V, AO2 = 0V.

Parameter Description
SCALE 4-20 mA [SETTING → SCALE 4-20 mA]
[Scaling of analog
output 4-20 mA] Scaling of the optional 4-20mA analog output.
Sets the absolute measured diameter value in
millimeters at which the current will be equal to 20 mA
Example:
[Dnom] = 10 mm,
[SCALE 4-20mA] = 10 mm
Then:
D1 = 10mm → AT = 20mA;
D1 = 0mm → AT = 4mA;
D1 = 5mm → AT = 12mA.

7.4 Built-in Digital Display
The laser diameter gauge features a built-in digital display (Fig. 9) for on-
site viewing of measurement results. This allows the ID-30P/ID-70P to
operate independently without an external terminal if needed.

8. PERIODIC ACCURACY CHECK
3. If the device readings do not exceed the permissible error limits, the
check is completed.
4. If the device has an error exceeding the tolerance, maintenance is
required (see Chapter 9).
9 . MAINTENANCE
This procedure is performed when the reading of the Purity of optical
elements is less than 90%, or if it is required by periodic checking (chap. 8).
Maintenance procedure:
- 31 -
3. Power on the device without a measurement object. After the 10-
second self-test procedure, enter the TEST menu. The optical purity
value should be within the range of 95.00 - 99.99.
4. If necessary, the video signal (Fig. 12) can be monitored using an
oscilloscope. To do this, connect the oscilloscope probes to the
measurement head bayonet (Fig. 4, pos. 5).

Fig. 19 Video signal oscillogram
a) Oscillogram of the video signal with the measured object. (1) – shadow in the video signal
from the measured object; (2) – dip in the video signal due to contamination of the optical
elements
b) Oscillogram of the video signal without the measured object during the test of the purity of
the optics. The oscillogram shows two dips due to contamination of the optics (2). A deeper
dip is taken into account, i.e. in our example, the purity of the optics is 70%
