Who have better imagination? Young people or old people?

That’s a tough question really. I have no strong feelings one way or the other. On the one
hand, young people tend to be more adventurous and free-spirited. Generally speaking, they are
less restrained by rules or stressed over day-to-day worries, so they might have greater
opportunities to exercise their imagination power. Old people, on the other hand, could be more
experienced and knowledgeable. Instead of letting their mind wander aimlessly, they can control the
flow of their thoughts and make their visualisations more productive and relevant to specific
purposes.
Do you think imagination is important?
Absolutely. Imagination goes hand in hand with creativity and these skills play a critical part in
the development of human civilisations. Without dreams and imagination, all scientific
breakthroughs and inventions would be impossible. There is no doubt that all man-made products
have been created first as visualisations in someone’s mind: clothes, TVs, airplanes, the
Internet, the list could go on and on. Most importantly, imagination helps relieve stress or pain
and improve mental well-beings. It is the most crucial ingredient of all forms of art such as literature,
music and film, which might enable people to escape into another world and break free from
stressful reality for a while.
What kinds of job need imagination?
Well, I suppose certain professions might involve a higher level of imagination than others.
The most popular jobs for imaginative people may be those directly related to art such as designer,
artist, writer and actor. For example, in order to write an engrossing novel, the author must spend
hours per day to vividly visualise in their mind how their story would develop. Another area that also
requires a great deal of imagination is probably science. Although this field is primarily based
on data and facts, visualisations are needed for scientists to break from conventions, which I
believe could lay the foundation for innovations and new discoveries.
What subjects are helpful for children’s imagination?
That’s an intriguing question. As I mentioned, imagination is closely linked to art so I suppose
subjects like literature, painting, paper cutting or drama might do wonders in nurturing this
unique skill. Additionally, extra-curricular activities could also improve their imaginative capability
drastically. Spending time in nature and playing outdoors are among the
most rewarding and spontaneous ways to enrich children’s imagination I believe.

Any game that asks them to draw and encourages them to use
language. Pictionary is one of them. If you consider riddles games, they
also fit the bill. These games help children to improve their lexical resources
and help them develop an understanding of metaphors, abstract ideas.

Oh yes, I’m inclined to say that imagination is one of the cornerstones of
being a human. Therefore, early development of imagination is absolutely
crucial. The earlier a child is forced to use their imagination, the easier it is
later on when they have to deal with abstract thoughts.

4. How can teachers encourage children to use imagination?

Playing educational games is one way to do it. Little children are


always fascinated by games so teachers can always take advantage of this.
Creating games for them to compete and incentivise them
by compliments and small rewards can be really effective. When I was
younger, the lessons where games were used to review knowledge were
often the most enjoyable. I could learn and retain knowledge without knowing
that I was learning.

In the best classrooms, a teacher should allow the student to move between gathering knowledge,
memorising and synthesizing to problem-solving. This comes from teaching with imagination and
encouraging students to learn in the same way.

Creative classrooms allow students to express their ideas freely, think outside the box and learn faster
and more effectively.

Imagination drives human discovery, so incorporating it into your classroom prepares students for a
future of creating innovative solutions.

How can you encourage imagination and creativity in your classroom?

Keep Playing

imaginative play can foster important social qualities, such a co-operation, empathy, and appreciation
of others’ feelings. You could incorporate word games, puns and riddles, solve-the-mystery stories and
lateral thinking puzzles to your lesson plans. Or even better, get the students to make their own. This
has a whole range of benefits to your students.

Flexible Classroom,Team Building Exercises

Students normally work independently, in groups and in partners.

Move your desks around, or allow students to move into different groups and partners. Flexible seating
allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class.
The most important thing about team building exercises is that there aren’t right or wrong answers –
just strategies. Collaborative games and tasks allow students to work together to make decisions.

By accomplishing group tasks, students learn to listen, trust and support each other. All while
developing life skills such as communication and collaboration. Check out these team building activities

Encourage Discussion

Encouraging meaningful discussions in the classroom can provide students a place to express new ideas
and share opinions. It can be productive in getting students to think more crtitcally about the topic,
encourages them to listen to other students opinion and compare that to their own, as well as allowing
them to challenge one another or build off of one anothers ideas.

The word, ‘imagination’ refers to the act of imagining things, i.e. the ability to form new images and
sensations in the mind that are not perceived through senses such as sight, hearing, or other senses.
Basically, imagination refers to ability to think of something that is not currently happening around you.

Having an imagination is essential. Imagination helps make knowledge applicable in solving problems,
hence allowing one to come up with innovative solutions. It also helps one integrate experience with the
learning process, hence assisting in the furthering of ideas.

Creativity, on the other hand, is the ability to create something. This could be anything, such as an idea,
a joke, a literary work, painting or musical composition, a solution, an invention, etc. Creativity allows
one to be inspired from things around them and then use the inspiration to create something.

Basically, the main difference between Imagination and Creativity is that fact that imagination is the act
of imagining, or thinking things that don’t exist, whereas, creativity is the act of using the imagination to
create something. For example: you start to image something, a vacation, a story, a daydream, etc.
However, this gives you an idea, and then you use this idea to create something, let’s say to write a story
or a novel. Hence, you used your imagination to facilitate your creativity.
