The greatest gratitude of all is owed to the Lord Almighty for having enabled

me to successfully complete this project.

Abstract
ABSTRACT

This project aims to study the impact of societal pressures on Transgender women in India

through the protagonist Revathi in A. Revathi’s The Truth About Me : A Hijra Life Story.

Chapter – 1 The introductory chapter deals with the origin and

development of Indian Literature and the Contemporary

writers. The chapter also analyses the works of A. Revathi

and her contribution to the Transgender Literature.

Chapter– 2 The second chapter unfolds the struggles, a hijra faces in

recognizing and maintaining her true identity as a Trans-

women amidst the so called heterosexual community,

through the narrative tales of the protagonist.

Chapter– 3 The concluding chapter sums up the analysis and

highlights the findings. This chapter also acknowledges its

limitations and provides future research directions for the

deeper understanding of the novel.

Note: The methodology followed in this project report is in

accordance with the NINETH edition of the MLA

Handbook for writers of research papers, 2021. Only page

numbers are given in the parenthetical reference wherever

primary source is cited.
