a catalyst for discussion among many. While some may find that one is of greater importance than the
other, I personally believe they are both vital main factors that contribute to sportspeople’s level of
athletic performance.
On the one hand, I consider bodily strength to be a requirement that makes athletes competitive and
victorious in their field. To put it bluntly, sports events are often held with a view to finding the strongest
competitors, especially when physical stamina can count as a great advantage in numerous sports. For
example, in marathon races, they already demand high endurance and agility just to participate and
even more in order to outrun everyone else. For that reason, physical strength is critical for a
sportsperson to acquire success.
On the other hand, I am of the opinion that mental strength plays a significant role in sporting
achievements. They often have to face many obstacles as sport is a demanding career, and without being
mentally strong, they will likely struggle to progress. It is true that professional athletes have to go
through the hardships of extensive training for tournaments, so remaining persistent and motivated is
very important. As a result, mental ability has become one of the key factors in sports.
In conclusion, I hold the belief that to achieve victory, the athlete needs to strike a balance between both
physical strength and mental strength, allowing them to withstand pressure and overpower any
opponent.
