1. Interested candidates are required to browse the institutional

1. All applications received against an advertisement would be scrutinized for


MEQ (Minimum Educational Qualification) and educational qualifications
prior to inviting for test/interview.
2. Test/interview will be conducted jointly by both institutions and modalities
for the same shall be defined elaborately in the admission advertisement.
3. List of selected candidates would be displayed on the official websites of
both institutions after the approval of the competent authority and/or a
duly constituted committee (JAB: Joint Admission Board) for the purpose.
4. All the selected candidates would be intimated with an admission offer
letter via official email and the admission offer would consist of terms and
conditions of the offer and a leaflet comprising a Ph.D. journey flowsheet for
this Joint Ph.D. Degree Programme.

Upon joining the program, the scholar is required to identify Thesis


Supervisors, one from IIT Patna and one from LUCM, to facilitate the
degree as a joint degree. Apart from this, depending on the nature of the
problem and inputs required by the doctoral student, the scholar may
place her/his request for a third Supervisor from the industry/ academia for
consideration. The scholar must submit online the Supervisor Endorsement
Letter (SEL) with consent of the Supervisors. The Thesis Supervisor(s) will
propose the Doctoral Committee (DC) to their respective institutions for
necessary approval within a month of admission. The Supervisor(s) will be
part of the DC and the DC will monitor the progress of the scholar.

2. Course credit requirements:
(a) 18 credits for 4 Year Undergraduate (B.Tech/B.E./BS)
1. (b) 12 credits for 2 Year Postgraduate (MSc/MCA/MBA)
2. (c) 6 credits for 2 Year Postgraduate (M.Tech/M.E./MS)
3. (a) Working professionals falling under middle/senior
level/entrepreneurs having a total experience greater than or equal to 5
years may be exempted from coursework requirements instead of an
online submission of their ongoing project relevant to the intended re
research area along with a statement of purpose (SOP) and
justification thereof.
4. (b) The JAB may scrutinize the online submitted proposal and SoP for
a decision on coursework waiver at the time of selection itself.
5. (c) In addition to coursework stated above, Research Methodology is
mandatory coursework for all without exception.
6. (d) The outstation working professionals (India/abroad) would be able
to complete coursework requirements through a hybrid/online mode of
instruction. Such permission would have to be obtained prior to the
start of the coursework.
7. (e) The scholar would have freedom to opt for courses relevant to
8. research problem, from among the approved list of Ph.D. courses, from
either of the institutions.
9. (f) The coursework is waived for those who have completed their PG
from IITs or IIMs.

Compulsory by the end of second semester, where literature


review and problem identification are expected to be expressed
with clarity to take up the research work further towards
completion with tangi- ble outputs as per standards defined in
this document. The compre- hensive examination would be
considered as the 1" annual progress seminar (1 APS).

The Scholar would require to deliver a Registration Seminar within


six (06) months of the Comprehensive Examination/Presentation
showing the progress of research work.

The Scholar would be required to deliver the 2nd APS at the end
of the 24th month showing the tangible and visible progress of
research work evidenced through patent/publications/conference
presentations/product development. The DC may recommend
2nd APS as a Synopsis of the Thesis based on the Scholar's
performance if applicable.
