    THE EXECUTION OF MARY
    STUART (1895)
    18 seconds of history-changing film.

    The film depicts the execution of Mary,


    Queen of Scots. It is the first known
    film to use special effects, specifically
    the stop trick.The executioner raises
    his axe and an edit occurs during
    which the actress is replaced by a
    mannequin.

    LA VOYAGE DANS LA LUNE


    (1902)
    A milestone in the history of visual
    & special effects.

    The director George Méliès developed


    a special effects style of the day that
    involved stop-motion animation;
    double, triple and quadruple
    exposures; cross-dissolves; and jump
    cuts.

    KING KONG (1933)


    Willis O'Brien Revolution -
    enhancing the creation.

    Matte painting, painting different


    scenarios on glass, projections,
    mechanical miniatures and the use of
    the Dunning Process, footage of the
    background in blue and the object in
    yellow, allowing the creation of a
    realistic cutout.

    THE THIEF OF BAGDAD


    (1940)
    A color film on a blue background.

    Flying mats, wizards, winged horses,


    lamp geniuses, a giant spider or the
    transformation of a boy into a dog.
    For the first time the use of
    chroma-key, arising in a color film.

    STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE


    (1977)
    May the force be with the
    rotoscope.

    They created the scenes in space using


    mockups and thumbnails. Later, they
    were finished with the rotoscope,
    allowing new visual effects to the
    scene. This is how the lightsabers
    were colored.

    The dinosaurs are REAL.

    With dinosaur input devices: models


    that fed information into computers to
    allow animation of characters like stop
    motion puppets and the debut of the
    famous 3D effects made us believe
    what was happening on the screen.

    (2001-2003)
    The trilogy that became epic by its
    resources.

    Gigantic armies were digitally created


    and real scenarios were finalized with
    the aid of CGI's. Without the motion
    capture technique, there would not be
    some of the most striking characters.

    acclaimed film of the decade.

    Breathtaking digital scenarios,


    whether it be the perfect way to
    capture actors' expressions to be
    reproduced by their digital versions,
    which not only revolutionized the
    history of cinema, but that of games
    as well.

    WAR FOR THE PLANET OF


    THE APES (2017)
    Technologies keep evolving.

    The apes were created with a mixture


    of motion-capture and CGI key-frame
    animation, as they were performed in
    motion-capture technology and
    animated in CGI.The visual effects for
    War were created by Weta Digital,
    believing that those were real apes.

    AVENGERS: ENDGAME
    (2019)
    The edition has POWER.

    The highest grossing new movie


    surpasses all expectations, featuring
    realistic scenarios, changing
    characters, and the biggest movie
    bust, all about a green chroma-key
    and lots of editing.
