Good morning to the honorable judges, respected teachers, and my dear friends.
Before we begin, let me introduce myself. My name is Ahmad Fachri Annaufal, and I am
honored to stand here before you today to discuss a topic that I believe has a profound impact on
each of us as students and as individuals. Today, we will explore the theme of “The Power of
Literacy in Shaping Better Students.”
First and foremost, let us express our deepest gratitude to Allah SWT, the Most Merciful and the
Most Compassionate, for granting us health, wisdom, and this precious opportunity to gather and
discuss the vital role of literacy. Without His blessings, none of this would be possible, and so
we thank Allah for guiding us on this path.
Imagine a world without literacy. Without the ability to read, we would be cut off from vast
amounts of knowledge. We would struggle to understand new ideas or connect with others
through shared stories and experiences. In a world filled with information, those who lack
literacy skills find themselves limited, unable to fully engage with new knowledge or to make
sense of the world around them. Therefore, literacy is a powerful tool that allows us to explore,
question, and dream of a better future.
Dear friends,
As students, literacy plays an essential role in shaping our character and expanding our
understanding. There are several ways in which literacy directly impacts us. Firstly, literacy
grants us access to limitless knowledge. Through reading, we can learn about historical events,
scientific discoveries, and cultural traditions from around the globe. Every book we read and
every article we study broadens our perspectives and helps us become more open-minded
individuals.
Literacy also fosters critical thinking, a skill that is more important than ever in today’s world.
We live in an age where information is everywhere, from social media to news outlets. Not
everything we see or read is true, and being literate means we can analyze information, question
its sources, and discern what is accurate. A literate person is a critical thinker, and a critical
thinker is a better student—one who is capable of making informed decisions and avoiding
misunderstandings.
Additionally, literacy enhances our creativity and imagination. When we engage with stories and
ideas, we are encouraged to think outside the box. We learn to communicate our own thoughts
and emotions, and we gain the courage to share them with others. Creativity is essential in
solving problems, and as students, it is our creativity that often helps us succeed academically
and socially.
We should also recognize that literacy is not just a personal achievement—it has a social
dimension as well. When we become literate, we are better equipped to contribute positively to
society. We gain the ability to speak up for what we believe in, to advocate for others, and to
take action based on informed perspectives. Literacy empowers us to make a difference in the
world around us.
In conclusion, literacy is much more than a skill; it is a force that shapes who we are. It enables
us to learn from the past, engage with the present, and imagine a better future. As students, let us
embrace literacy wholeheartedly, not only for our own benefit but for the betterment of society
as a whole. May Allah SWT bless us with knowledge, wisdom, and the motivation to use our
literacy skills to create a brighter, more compassionate world.
