GRAMMAR

TO BE VERB:

AFIRMATIVA INTERROGATIVA NEGATIVA


I am = I´m Am I? I am not = I´m not
You are = You´re Are you? You are not = You aren´t
He is = He´s Is he? He is not = He isn´t
She is = She´s Is she? She is not = She isn´t
It is = It´s Is it? It is not = It isn´t
We are = We´re Are we? We are not = We aren´t

REGULAR & IRREGULAR VERBS:


AFIRMATIVA:
I/YOU / WE / THEY + verbo no infinitivo sem to.
Ex.: They dance well.
HE / SHE / IT + verbo no infinitivo sem to + -s .
Ex.: She sings badly.
Obs:
Quando o sujeito for 3ª pessoa do singular (He/She/It):
 Nos verbos terminados em y depois de uma consoante, elimine o y e
acrescente -ies.
 Nos verbos terminados em ch, sh, ss, x,z e o, acrescente -es.
 Os seguintes pronomes indefinidos também são considerados 3ª pessoa do
singular: each, everybody, everyone, everything, somebody, someone,
something, anybody, anyone, anything, nobody, no one, nothing,
much, little, all.
 Os seguintes pronomes indefinidos são considerados 3ª pessoa do plural
(they): many, few, a few,several, all.
 O verbo have (ter, possuir) torna-se has quando o sujeito é a 3ª pessoa do
singular.
 O presente simples descreve ações habituais, por isso, é comum
empregarmos advérbios de freqüência, como: always (sempre), sometimes
(às vezes), usually (geralmente), often (freqüentemente), everyday (todos
os dias).
 Ex: My brother always forgets my birthday.
 Indica fatos reais e imutáveis.
 Ex: Birds sing. Dogs bark. Children play.
 Lembre-se sempre: Se a frase é afirmativa, está no tempo presente e o
sujeito na 3ª pessoa, nunca esqueça o que acontece com o verbo!

NEGATIVA:
I/YOU / WE / THEY + do not (don´t) +verbo no infinitivo sem to.
Ex: We don´t go to Italy anymore.
HE / SHE / IT + does not (doesn´t) + verbo no infinitivo sem to.
Ex: He doesn´t like her.

INTERROGATIVA:
Do + I/YOU / WE / THEY + verbo no infinitivo sem to.
Ex: Do you wanna dance?
Does + HE / SHE / IT + verbo no infinitivo sem to.
Ex: Does he teach Spanish?
