Pointers (HOPE3)

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY- Any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires
energy expenditure- including activities undertaken while working playing. carrying out
household chores, traveling and recreational activity.

EXERCISES- Are also called “cardio’’ exercises. Normally, these activities increase our heart
and breathing rate. These activities cause us to sweat profusely and breathe harder.

BONE STRENGTHENING- Bone growth is stimulated by physical stress brought about by


physical activity. As skeletal muscles contract, they pull their attachment on bones causing
physical stress.

MUSCLE STRENGTHENING- Are exercises in which groups of muscles work or hold


against a force or some weight. It helps build good muscle strength when muscles do more
work, it become stronger.

INSUFFICIENT PHYSICAL ACTIVITY- One of the leading risk factors for global mortality
and is on the rise in many countries, adding to the burden of NCDs (non-communicable diseases)
and affecting general health worldwide.

CYCLING-best form active transportation that are verry good in our physical health, accessible
and safe for all esp. now pandemic season.

NATURE OF DANCES
DANCE- a form of expression of oneself through rhythmic movement.
FEATURES OF DANCE
1. MUSIC- it is closely related to dance for it plays a significant role in it. It is used as
accompaniment that somehow motivates the dancers movement
2. MOVEMENT- it refers action of dances with the use of their bodies.
3. THEME- it pertains to the content or main ingredient of the dance.
4. TECHNIQUES- it refers to the skill in executing movement.
5. DESIGN – it refers to the arrangement of movements according to pattern.
6. PROPERTIES AND COSTUME- these contributes to the visual effect of dance.

LOCOMOTOR- WALK ,RUN, HEAP, HOP, JUMP, GALLOP


NON LOCOMOTOR- BEND, TWIST, STRECH, REACH, SWING , SWAY
• Bodily Shape- It refers to how the entire body is molded in space or the configuration of
body parts
• The area in which the dance takes place is called SPACE
• Large and small movements refer to SIZE
• The dance element level primarily refers to the body's position relative to the ground.
• Floor pattern- refers to the the line of movement taken which maybe forward, backward,
sideward, diagonal, upward.

KINDS OF DANCE
Francisca Reyes-Aquino
Fondly called the “Mother of Philippine Dancing,” Francisca Reyes-Aquino lived a life
dedicated to preserving Filipino heritage through studying and teaching folk dances. Reyes-
Aquino is the first National Artist for Dance.
TRADITIONAL DANCE- Commonly known as folk dances, are dance practices that have
been passed on or handed down from one generation to another
ETHNOLOGIC DANCE- this is the dance that is indigenous to a certain race of country.
SOCIAL DANCE - these are popular people type of dancing for pleasure as generally
performed by pairs or group.
• BALLROOM DANCE- it actually originated as square dance which was followed by waltz ,
tango, foxrot, swing.
• FOLKDANCE- A dance developed by people that reflect the life of the people of a certain
country or region.

MAJOR CLASSIFICATION OF PHILIPPINE FOLKDANCES


1. CORDILLERA DANCES- These dances reflects rituals which celebrate their daily lives – a
good harvest, health, peace, war, and other symbols of living.
2. SPANISH INFLUENCED DANCES - reflect Christianity , and European art and culture,
"La Jota Isabela"
3. MUSLIM DANCES- These dances where originated in the influence of Malay, Javanese and
middle Eastern Traders.
4. TRIBAL DANCES- ethnic minorities found in different parts of the philippines.
5. RURAL DANCES- These dances reflect the simple life of the people in the barrios. It depicts
common work, daily activities of the people. Examples are Tinikling, Itik-Itik dance and Sala ti
Mais.

FUNDAMENTALS DANCE POSITION


These are the five fundamental or basic position in dance that are in commonly termed as 1st
position, 2nd position , 3rd position, 4th position, and 5th positions of the feet and arms.
