Fireside Slippers

A Crochet Pattern by Sarah Thompson of Rich Textures Crochet

Skill Level: Easy

Gauge: 8 sts x 8 rounds of sc = 4 inches

Finished Sizes: Small: Women’s US Size 5-6 (Men’s 4-5): 7.5 x 4 inch sole
Medium: Women’s US Size 7-8 (Men’s 6-7): 8.5 x 4 inch sole
Large: Women’s US Size 9-10 (Men’s 8-9): 9.5 x 4 inch sole
X-Large: Women’s US Size 11-13 (Men’s 10-12): 11.5 x 5 inch sole
Note: The wool does have a little bit of stretch as it is worn although the double thick
soles do provide quite a bit of stability.

Yarn: Wool Ease Thick & Quick by Lion Brand Yarn (86% acrylic, 10% Wool, 4% Rayon; 6 oz/170g;
106 yds/97 m); Colour: Wheat. Small: 105 yards/pair, Medium: 110 yards/pair Large: 120 yards/pair
X-Large: 130 yards/pair

Hook: Size N/15 (10 mm) Hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn Needle.

Stitches and Abbreviations:

Blo - Back Loop Only


Ch – Chain
Flo - Front Loop Only
Rpt – Repeat
Sc - Single Crochet
Sk - Skip
Sl St – Slip Stitch
Yo – Yarn Over

Pattern Notes:
- Pattern is written in American English terms.
- Pattern is worked in rounds.
- Turn your work as instructed
- Ch 1 at the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch.
- Weave in ends as needed.
- The sole of this slipper is double thick. You will work two soles for each slipper and
crochet them together as per the instructions below.
- Yarn can be slippery on smooth ooring when used in footwear! I recommend using a
product like sock stop or even hot glue (hot glue gun) on the bottom of the slipper to
create a better grip and help prevent slipping.

SIZE SMALL:

Sole (Make 4 - 2 per slipper):


Ch 11.
Rnd 1: 3 sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each of the next 8 sts, 3 sc in the next st, now
working along the opposite side of the foundation ch, sc in each of the next 8 sts, join with a
sl st in the 1st st. (22 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 7 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 3 sts, sc in each of the next 7 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (28 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 7 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 6 sts, sc in each of the next 7 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (40 sts)

Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Repeat rounds 1-3 once more and then proceed as follows to join the two soles together to
make the bottom of your slipper double thick.

Slipper Sides:
Lay one slipper sole over top of the other slipper sole. Now working through both slippers,
join yarn in the same st as joining on your slipper soles. (Note: After working the second sole
you may wish to leave the yarn attached and continue working the steps below)

Rnd 1: Ch 1, working through both soles, sc in the same st as joining and in each st around.
Join with a sl st in the 1st st. (40 sts)

Rnds 2-3: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining and in each st around. Join with a sl st in the 1st
st. (40 sts)

Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Slipper Top (worked in rows):


From the joining st of the slipper side, count 5 sts and join yarn with a sl st in the back loop
only of the 5th st.

Row 1: Working in the o, sc in each of the next 4 sts, sl st in the next st. TURN leaving the
remaining sts unworked. (4 sc)

Rows 2-15: Sc in each sc across, sl st in the o of the next st on the slipper side. TURN
leaving the remaining sts unworked. (4 sc) At the end of row 15, do not turn but continue
working around the slipper sides as follows:

Slipper Back:
Now working under both loops on the slipper side:

Rows 1-3: Sc in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
15 of the slipper top. TURN leaving the remaining sts unworked.

Row 4: Sl st in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
15 of the slipper top.

SIZE MEDIUM:

Sole (Make 4 - 2 per slipper):


Ch 12.
Rnd 1: 3 sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each of the next 9 sts, 3 sc in the next st, now
working along the opposite side of the foundation ch, sc in each of the next 9 sts, join with a
sl st in the 1st st. (24 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 8 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 3 sts, sc in each of the next 8 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (30 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 8 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 6 sts, sc in each of the next 8 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (42 sts)

Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Repeat rounds 1-3 once more and then proceed as follows to join the two soles together to
make the bottom of your slipper double thick.

Slipper Sides:
Lay one slipper sole over top of the other slipper sole. Now working through both slippers,
join yarn in the same st as joining on your slipper soles. (Note: After working the second sole
you may wish to leave the yarn attached and continue working the steps below)

Rnd 1: Ch 1, working through both soles, sc in the same st as joining and in each st around.

Slipper Top (worked in rows):


From the joining st of the slipper side, count 5 sts and join yarn with a sl st in the back loop
only of the 5th st.

Row 1: Working in the o, sc in each of the next 5 sts, sl st in the next st. TURN leaving the
remaining sts unworked. (5 sc)

Rows 2-17: Sc in each sc across, sl st in the o of the next st on the slipper side. TURN
leaving the remaining sts unworked. (5 sc) At the end of row 17, do not turn but continue
working around the slipper sides as follows:

Slipper Back:
Now working under both loops on the slipper side:

Rows 1-3: Sc in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
17 of the slipper top. TURN leaving the remaining sts unworked.

Row 4: Sl st in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
17 of the slipper top.

SIZE LARGE:

Sole (Make 4 - 2 per slipper):


Ch 13.
Rnd 1: 3 sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each of the next 10 sts, 3 sc in the next st,
now working along the opposite side of the foundation ch, sc in each of the next 10 sts, join
with a sl st in the 1st st. (26 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 9 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 3 sts, sc in each of the next 9 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (32 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 9 sts, 2 sc

From the joining st of the slipper side, count 5 sts and join yarn with a sl st in the back loop
only of the 5th st.

Row 1: Working in the o, sc in each of the next 5 sts, sl st in the next st. TURN leaving the
remaining sts unworked. (5 sc)

Rows 2-19: Sc in each sc across, sl st in the o of the next st on the slipper side. TURN
leaving the remaining sts unworked. (5 sc) At the end of row 19, do not turn but continue
working around the slipper sides as follows:

Slipper Back:
Now working under both loops on the slipper side:

Rows 1-4: Sc in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
17 of the slipper top. TURN leaving the remaining sts unworked. Fasten off, weave in your
ends.

Rejoin yarn so that you are working with the outside/right side of the slipper facing you in
the 1st st of round 4.

Row 5: Sl st in each of the next 19 sts. Fasten off, weave in your ends.

SIZE X-LARGE:

Sole (Make 4 - 2 per slipper):


Ch 13.
Rnd 1: 3 sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each of the next 11 sts, 3 sc in the next st, now
working along the opposite side of the foundation ch, sc in each of the next 11 sts, join with a
sl st in the 1st st. (28 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 3 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 10 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 3 sts, sc in each of the next 10 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (34 sts)

Rnd 3: Ch 1, 2 hdc in each of the next 6 sts, hdc in the next st, sc in each of the next 10 sts, 2 sc
in each of the next 6 sts, sc in each of the next 10 sts, hdc in the next st, join with a sl st in the
1st st. (46 sts)

Fasten off, weave in your ends.

Repeat rounds 1-3 once more and then proceed as follows to join the two soles together to
make the bottom of your slipper double thick.

Slipper Sides:
Lay one slipper sole over top of the other slipper sole. Now working through both slippers,
join yarn in the same st as joining on your slipper soles. (Note: After working the second sole

Rnd 1: Ch 1, working through both soles, sc in the same st as joining and in each st around.

Rnds 2-5: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining and in each st around. Join with a sl st in the 1st

Slipper Top (worked in rows):

From the joining st of the slipper side, count 5 sts and join yarn with a sl st in the back loop
only of the 5th st.

Row 1: Working in the o, sc in each of the next 5 sts, sl st in the next st. TURN leaving the
remaining sts unworked. (5 sc)

Rows 2-21: Sc in each sc across, sl st in the o of the next st on the slipper side. TURN
leaving the remaining sts unworked. (5 sc) At the end of row 21, do not turn but continue
working around the slipper sides as follows:

Slipper Back:
Now working under both loops on the slipper side:

Rows 1-5: Sc in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
17 of the slipper top. TURN leaving the remaining sts unworked.

Row 6: Sl st in each of the next 19 sts, sl st under both loops of the same st as the sl st in row
17 of the slipper top.

TO FINISH ALL SLIPPERS, cut a piece of yarn to about 20 inches long. Using your yarn
needle, thread the yarn in and out through the stitches of round 2 of your slipper back. Tie
the yarn at the front of the slippers into a bow leaving some tails so that you may tie and
untie as needed.

Fasten off and weave in any remaining ends.
