The Celebrity Chef

There was a time when no one thought a chef could be as famous as a
football player. Today, many chefs are celebrities with their own books, TV
shows and podcasts.
Maybe the most famous, or the most popular, is James Black. It all started in
1973 with his original TV show, Cooked. At the time, he was a young US actor
and the television company asked him to study with some of the best French
chefs in Paris and make his own show. After the show was a success,
thousands of Cooked books were in kitchens around the world. James wanted
everyone to feel like they could cook, or at least learn to make better food.
French cooking uses a lot of butter, oil, and other delicious things that weren't
popular in the 1990s. That is when the healthy eating and cooking shows
started like Delicious Diets and Farm Good. James then wrote his brilliant
series of books Healthy Plate. A few years later, in 2001, the film Love Food
was showing all around the world. It tells the story of his life.
Knives is his latest popular cooking show where he gives talented chefs a
chance to also become famous. When Mariam from Buenos Aires and Tom
from Liverpool started on Knives, no one knew them. Now, they have their
own amazing TV shows. Mariam teaches teenagers to cook, while Tom shares
his grandma’s best recipes with an older audience.

1 was a TV show from the 1970s.
