B. Learning Activities
a. Drill: Let the pupils to group themselves into two.
Provide each group with pictures. Let them find the words scattered on
the table that named the pictures. The first group who could find it first
will be the winner.

Today, we are going to learn using This and That in a simple sentence.
a. Showing the pictures:

This is a ball. This is an umbrella.

That is my bag. That is a bird.

- Let the pupils read the sentence below the picture.


- How many boys and girls on every picture? How many all together?
- What are the underlined words in each sentence?
This – is used to refer a singular noun (only one) that is near from the speaker.
This is always comes to the words is.
Now, let’s see the example:

1. This is a red apple.

2. This is a pink umbrella

3. This is a bird.

4. This is a toy truck.

- Have the pupils to read the sentences after the teacher.

That – is used to refer to singular noun (only one) that is far from the speaker.
That always come to the words is.
Now, let’s see the example:

1. That is our small house.

2. That is a teddy bear.

3. That is our church.

4. That is a bright sun.


- Let the pupils read the sentences.
D. Application
1. Group the pupils into two.
- Group A will hold a picture of a mango and say, “This is a mango.”
- Group B will point the picture of a mango and say, “That is a
mango.”

2. Pair work:
Say: Look for a partner. Draw something that tells about the sentences.

This is a ball. (The pupils draw a boy or girl holding a ball)

That is a ball. (The pupils draw a boy or girl pointing a ball)

E. Independent Practice:
Directions: Write this or that to complete the sentences.
