The IECEP LSC DATATHON 2023: PROGRAMMING COMPETITION will be held virtually this
September 21, 2024, 8 am via Zoom Platform.
B. Eligibility
1. The competition is open to all bona fide Student Members from the affiliated Schools of
IECEP Laguna Student Chapter, currently enrolled in the HEI or Technology Center on the date
of the competition.
2. The participating team must be composed of three (3) members only, duly endorsed by their
respective Local Organizations, and have successfully registered for the IECEP LSC General
Assembly 2024.
3. The team must have 1 official faculty coach (Licensed ECE) representing them.
4. Local organizations shall submit their official list of participants, on or before September 13,
2024, through a provided google form. They can submit their list of participants and other
document thru this link: Link
5. They must accomplish the Agreement and Official entry Form together with the other
documents related to the competition and submit under the prescribed format.
1. The IECEP LSC Programming Competition will be held virtually this September 21, 2024, via
Zoom Platform at 8 am.
2. The programming languages of the competition are limited to C++, Java, and Python 3. Given
problems will be solved and coded in any of the specified programming languages.
a. Each team will be allowed to use only a single computer (laptop) and must write and
test their programs on that machine.

2. A team may submit a claim of ambiguity or error in a given problem. If the claim is valid.
3. A clarification statement will be issued to all teams. (Applicable only to running errors).
4. A team will be disqualified for any action that jeopardizes the integrity of the competition, such
as but not limited to the following: searching answers in the internet, using of cellphones (except
for the use in the separate Zoom), receiving codes from an inside and outside source,
modification of competition materials, codes from notes, and from internal and external sources,
etc. Such actions may be reported by a team member, or coach, or one of the organizers, to the
emcee and later raised to the organizers and board of judges. The decision of the board of
judges will be final and irrevocable.
E. Preparations
1. All teams must be present 30 minutes before the start of the competition proper, failing to do
so will result in an instant disqualification. A dry run for the participating teams shall be
conducted a week before the competition. A connectivity test shall be conducted during the dry
run.
2. The setup for the participating teams shall be as follows: A Zoom link intended for the main
session will be provided. The link will be used to monitor all of the team’s activities and will be
broadcasted in Facebook Live during the competition proper. All cameras must be turned on
and microphones turned off at all times in the main Zoom session. Additionally, a separate Zoom
link will be provided for each participating team in order to monitor all of the activities and
discussions by an assigned watcher under the organizing committee. All participating teams will
be required to turn on both their cameras and microphones in the separate Zoom link.
3. A Google form will be provided for each question which will be used to submit the correct
answers.
4. All members of the participating team must be in a single location, preferably in school or at
their chosen area during the competition proper where a strong Wi-Fi connection is present
5. A Google Drive link containing each problem will be sent to the contestants and later
displayed on the Zoom Meeting to be read to the audience by the emcee after the submission.
The contestant’s Gmail addresses will be asked before the competition proper. This is to ensure
that only those accepted requests are allowed to access the Google Drive.
F. Competition Proper
2. The emcee in the Main Zoom Session will give the signal to start the competition. An
automated timer will be displayed in one of the committee screens.
3. A team member/s leaving their designated Exclusive Zoom session, as well as accessing
another Exclusive Zoom session other than their designated room is strictly prohibited and will
result in disqualification.
4. Access to other websites and online resources is prohibited. If caught doing so, it will
automatically result in disqualification.
5. All participants are expected to have a stable and accessible internet. If a disconnection
occurred, the competition timer still continues.
1. There will only be a one-time submission for the final answer of each problem using Google
Form. After the time is up, the Google Form will be closed and will not accept any more
responses. The file to be submitted must be an executable (.exe) format. The file name must be
in this format: SCHOOL INITIALS_ProblemNumber.exe. (example: UP_1.exe).
1. A team can get as much as 120 points. Scoring per answer is based on the table provided

2. First to submit the correct answer will be awarded the maximum of 20 points. Submissions
that came later will be deducted by a point (e.g., 2nd – 19pts, 3rd – 18pts, 4th – 17pts, etc.).
3. The top 3 teams with the highest accumulated scores will be declared the winners.
4. In case of a tie, a knockout round will commence where an additional problem will be given to
each team and shall be answered in 30 minutes or until all of the tied teams have casted their
answers. The process is repeated until one team, for each place, shall be hailed as the
champion, the 1st runner-up, and the 2nd runner-up.
1. The top three (3) winners shall be named Champion, 1st Runner-Up, and2nd RunnerUp
respectively. Winners shall receive their respective certificates and prizes.
J. Board of Judges
1. The three (3) members of the Board of Judges shall be a Professional or a Registered
Electronics Engineer who are active members of the IECEP Inc., they will also convene to
resolve any issue that may arise during the conduct of the competition.
2. Members of the Board of Judges must have expertise in Information and Communications
Technology as well as a forte in programming, especially on the aforementioned three (3)
programming languages to be used in the competition proper.
3. Only the members of the Board of Judges are allowed to check and review all the submitted
files and solutions.
