Dear Sir / Madam,

We are pleased to invite your school to participate in UDAAN, an Inter-School Scholastic Festival, organized by
Rotary & Inner Wheel Club of Gangtok. This event aims to bring together government and private schools,
fostering a healthy spirit of competition. This year is a 50th anniversary of statehood of Sikkim and we are
promoting this event under the banner of ‘Sunaulo Sikkim Samriddha Sikkim’.

About Us :

Rotary Club and Inner Wheel Club of Gangtok, both are international organizations working tirelessly in and
around Gangtok since 1968 and 2000 respectively. Our projects focus on educating, helping and supporting
the underprivileged, with an emphasis on women and children. Udaan is one such project which we have been
organizing successfully over the years encouraging school students and giving them a platform to showcase
their talent.

TEACHERS EVENT : We want our teachers to be active participants in the event. So, there are a few special
events for them :

1. Essay Competition : Topic would be – “Sunaulo Sikkim Samriddha Sikkim”. Language would be
English/Hindi/Nepali with maximum 300 words. The same can be submitted online before 22nd September.
2. On the Spot Fun Event
3. Dedicated Teacher’s Quiz & Antakshari

Prize distribution will take place from 4 PM, with individual prizes for each event and best school trophies in
each category. Points will be awarded to top ten ranks, totalling to determine best-performing schools in each
category.

Udaan has been an important event in school calendar over the years. This year, we have invited more than
100 schools across the state. We believe your school’s participation is crucial to the event’s success.

We have enclosed details about the events along with the google form link. Please submit the form by 22 nd
September 2024.

DETAILS OF EVENTS :
JUNIORS (CLASS 2 – 4)

1. Quiz : Written & multiple choice type. Two entries per school.

2. Lets Converse : Time limit 2 mins. Two student per school form a team. Language is English. Judging criteria
would be content, body language & presentation and speech & diction. Students can choose any one of
the following topics :
a. My Family Members
b. What I Like About My State
c. My Favourite Sport and Why I Like It
It may be funny, serious or factual but the conversation has to be in sync.

3. Word Grid : This will consist of a grid of letters. Students will have to find the words mentioned alongside,
which could be horizontal, vertical, diagonal or backwards. Two entries per school.

4. Fancy Dress : Two entries per school. Theme would be PEOPLE AROUND US. It could be a doctor, police,
postman, cobbler, farmer, teacher, chef, mechanic, hair dresser, cleaner or any other community helper.
The child must tell on stage what he/she has dressed up as in two lines or enact something related to their
costume. Maximum time allowed is 1 min per student.

MIDDLES (CLASS 5 – 8)

1. Quiz : Written quiz covering topics on Current Affairs, Olympics, Football, Cricket, Logos, UNO, Solar
System, Oscar, Geography, Capital, Personalities and General Awareness. Two entries per school.

2. Spell Bee : There would be a written preliminary round and top 10 students will make it to the final
round. Students can ask for the meaning of the word and its use in a sentence. Two entries per school.

3. Math Magic : Two students per school would form a team. They would be required to solve given maths
problems in a given time frame. Questions will be based on topics like Maths Operations, BODMAS,
Time/Calendar, Percentage, Fractions, Sets, Geometry.

4. Mono Acting : In this, one student from each school can participate. He / She has to give a short mono
act with dialogues. Props can be used. Language should be Nepali. Maximum time is 2 minutes. Judging
criteria would be content, dialogue delivery & speech and characterization.

SENIORS (CLASS 9 – 12)

1. Quiz : For seniors, quiz will have a preliminary written round and top 5 teams will qualify for the finals on
stage. Quiz will cover questions on Politics, Olympics, Cricket, Tennis, Football, Space, English literature,
Elections 2024, Climate Change, Indian National Award, Fictional Detective, Capital, Flags of Nation,
Acronym, Logos & Symbols, English Song/Music, Trophies, Movie Characters, Geography, Riddles and
Books. Two students per school will make a team.

2. Creative Writing : Topic would be given on the spot. Two entries per school. Maximum 300 words and
language would be English.

3. Poster Making : A topic will be given on the spot and poster has to be made accordingly. Participants
need to bring their own drawing and painting essentials. Drawing sheets would be provided. Two entries
per school.

4. Aantakshari : This event will have a written musical bollywood preliminary round comprising questions
regarding music, songs, awards, directors, lyrics & movies. Top 5 teams will make it to the finals which
will be a stage event. It will feature verbal, audio & visual rounds. Two students per school make a team.

POINTS OT NOTE
✓ Registration starts at 8 AM, events start at 9 AM.
✓ On the spot changes in names & entries are discouraged. Changes can be informed till 12 hr prior via
phone, email or personally beforehand.
✓ Students should bring tiffin & water bottles though lunch will be provided by the organizers.
✓ Students should bring their pen, pencil, eraser, colors, boards etc.
✓ Avoid sending participation of same student in more than one event.
✓ There are prizes for early bird registration, best disciplined team, farthest team, most enthusiastic team,
fair play award.
✓ Please be advised that all participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation
arrangements. The organizers will not be liable for any expenses incurred, nor will we provide
reimbursements.
