PROJECT WORK – 2024-2025


Instructions :
 Each project is allotted a maximum of 20 marks except for optionals which is out
of 100.
 Writing work should not exceed 12 pages (A4 size) [Minimum 10 pages].
 Cover page should be downloaded from the PTA group and attached at the
beginning.
 Acknowledgement, Content/Index and Bibliography should be written in separate
3 sheets.
 Writing work should be on the right side of the file and relevant pictures or
photographs should be pasted on the left side with title or caption.
 It should be in your own handwriting and should be neat and legible.
 All the sheets should be stapled together and neatly inserted in the file.
 Those who prepare models should submit 2-3 pages written work about the model
along with the Cover page, Acknowledgement, Index and Bibliography in the file.
 Those who prepare PPT in History & Civics should give the printout of the slides
along with the Cover page, Acknowledgement, Index and Bibliography in the file.

1. ENGLISH – I (Language) :
Speaking Assessment Test :
 You are required to speak to your examiners for about two minutes on any ONE of the five
topics given.
 You may refer to brief notes on the course of your presentation but reading or excessive
dependence on notes will be penalized.
 You will have one hour to prepare your topic independently.
 10 marks are awarded for speaking skills on the following criteria :

Listening Assessment Test :
A passage of about 300 words is read aloud by the examiner twice, the first time at normal
reading speed (about 110 words a minute) and next time at a slower speed. Students may make
brief notes during the reading. They then answer an objective type test based on the passage, on
the paper provided.

5. GEOGRAPHY : (Choose any ONE topic)


(a) Weather records : Maintaining and interpreting weather records as found in the
newspaper for at least one season.
(b) Collection of data from secondary sources : [Using Modern techniques i.e. Global
Positioning System (GPS), Remote Sensing, Aerial Photography and Satellite
imageries} : Preparing a PowerPoint Presentation on current issues like – use of earth
resources / development activities / dangers of development and ecological disasters
like droughts, earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, landslides cyclones and tornadoes in
the world.
(c) Physical Features : Collection of data from primary and secondary sources or taking
photographs and preparing notional sketches of features found in the vicinity or
areas visited during the year as a part of school activity.
(d) Find out the sources of pollution of water bodies in the locality and determine the
quality of water.
(e) Collect information on global environmental issues and problems and communicate
your findings through appropriate modes (posters, charts, collages, cartoons,
handouts, essays, street plays and PowerPoint presentation).
(f) Area Studies : Choosing any aspect from World Studies and preparing a PowerPoint
Presentation or a write up on it.
(g) Meteorological Instruments and their uses : Six’s maximum and minimum
thermometer, mercury barometer, aneroid barometer, wind vane, anemometer, rain
gauge and hygrometer.
(h) Using your knowledge of chemistry make a model of a volcano to study the extent of
damage that can be caused by a volcanic eruption.
(i) Make a record of recent earthquakes in India. Find out the damages caused.
(j) Rock collection is a hobby. Collect rock samples from different places and name them
with detailed information
6. MATHEMATICS : (Choose any ONE topic)
1. Conducts survey of group of students and represent graphically – height, weight and
no. of family members, pocket money etc.
2. Planning Delivery route for Postman or Milkman.
3. Running a tuckshop / canteen.
4. Study ways of raising a loan to buy a car or house. Eg. Bank loan or purchase of
electric appliances through hire purchase.
5. Cutting a circle into equal section of a small central angle to find area of circles.
6. Draw a circle of radius r on ½ cm. graph paper and then 2 mm graph paper. Estimate
the area enclosed in each case by counting no. of squares. Now try out with circles of
different radii.
7. To use flat cutouts to form cube, cuboid and pyramids to obtain formulae for volume
and total surface arc.
8. Survey of different type of bank accounts (explain the facility of loan, rate of interest
by visiting the bank.

 Students will require to do a minimum of four assignments during a year.
 Any 4 topics can be selected.
1. Identify 100 consumers of major brands of edible oils in a locality / area where you
live. Draw up the pattern of their monthly expenditure on this product and compare
it with the other household expenditure. Make a presentation of your findings in
class.
2. Identify the major brands of bathing soaps that are available in the market in your
area. Select a sample of 10 shops / department stores that sell these brands and
collect the sales of these brands over a period of one week at these shops. Identify the
brands that sell the most and make a presentation for your class.
3. Make a presentation on the central problems an economy faces. Explain these with
reference to the Indian economy.
4. Take a developed country such as the USA and a developing country such as India.
Analyse the main characteristics of these economies.
5. Outline the main modes of transport in the district / city you live. What problems do
you and other citizens face pertaining to the availability of public transport? Analyze.
6. Take a table of food grain production in India and Interpret the changes in the
production over a given period of time.
7. Make a presentation of the major trading partners of India in the last 15 years.
Specify the changes in the last five years.
8. What are the major items of export and imports from India in the last five years? Use
secondary data sources and make out the changes that have taken place in this
context.
13. COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS : (Choose any ONE topic)
1. Study the working of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Industry in India – Take
any 4 firms of the industry and group them according to their objectives (Profit / Non
Profit making).
2. Write an essay or enact a play showing growing communication needs in today’s
organizations, depicting the possible problems that may occur due to poor
communication.
3. Study the profile of any partnership firm. Write a brief report stating the nature and
working of the firm.
4. Visit any co-operative society or its website. Analyse its objectives, membership and
working.
