Lucas. He was sitting at a perpendicular position from me, giving me the perfect
vision of his face. His black hair, sharp jawline, and perfectly shaped lips made a
perfect harmony for my view. Everyone was talking while leaving the class. I hurried
up to pack all my belongings just to try to talk to him. I felt insecure when I saw Chloe
approaching first, so I slowed down my steps. Suddenly he turned, and his blue eyes
connected with mine, making my heart race.
—Oh, Emily! — he smiled, and that made me feel a warmth spread through my
chest, as if his simple gesture could light up the entire room.
—Hey Lucas — I said, and then I turned to Chloe— Hey Chloe.
Chloe examined me and I felt intimidated.
—How are you doing? —Lucas asked me.
—I’m fine, I little bit busy with the exams —I answered.
—Oh yes, you know, if you need any help… —he proposed.
I was going to deny his offer, but then I thought, “That would give us some private
time”.
—Actually… —I started— You know, the Monday’s exam of math? I would really be
grateful if you helped me with functions.
—Hey… I’m going to wait at the entrance of the school —interrupted Chloe and after
looking at both of us, she left the room. We were alone.
—Yes… of course.
—Can we go to the library… now? —I asked.
—Oh… no, I have to go with Chloe… We can meet this afternoon —He said. I felt a
thorn in my chest. I was jealous. What they were going to do? Why that annoyed
me?
—Cool, see you at 18.00h —I swallowed my thoughts and said.

We spend almost two hours at the library. I was creating imaginary doubts just to
lengthen the moment. I loved how he talked about things he knew. He was
passionate about it. Lucas and I were started our relationship as friends a couple of
months ago when we ended up being partners for a chemistry project. Since then, I
started to develop feelings for him, but I wasn’t courageous enough to tell him. I
really wanted to say it. People were starting to leave and the close hour of the library
was every minute closer. I didn’t want it to end. Not that way.
He was sitting close to me, every time he leaned to explain something in my paper, I
could sense the essence of his masculine perfume. Every time I felt that, my face
was starting to warm up and my heart was near to a heart attack. His closeness can
stir me and take me out of my comfort zone.
—Do you understand? —his voice took me away of my imagination.
I looked at the paper and I just nodded.
—It’s almost closing time, Emy —he said. Again. The way he pronounced my name
sent shivers down my spine, as if each syllable was crafted just for me. It wasn’t just
the sound, but the way his gaze held mine, making something so ordinary feel
intimate.
—Oh, yes, we should go —” Say it. Say it.” The voices in my head repeated.
He started packing his things, and I was trying to control my thong. I would ruin our
friendship if I said that I liked him. I was almost done when our hands touched when I
grabbed my pencil. For a moment, I stopped, forgetting what I was doing. The
warmth of his skin was distracting. I pulled my hand away quickly, but I could feel
the tension in the air between us. He looked at me, a hint of surprise in his eyes, as if
he felt it too. I cleared my throat out of nerves and when we were standing, without
controlling myself, I grabbed his wrist. He looked at me confused.
—Lucas, I think I have to tell you something… —I started. There would be no going
back.
—Emy… —He started, as if he was aware of what I was going to say. Like he was
warning me.
—No, but… —For a moment I was going to let it go, but when I looked into his eyes,
my heart raced. My gaze landed on his kissable lips, I felt a pull I couldn’t ignore. At
that moment and I knew I had to take the chance.
I stood on tiptoe, my heart pounding as I pulled him closer to me. Then our lips met.
A wave of warmth rushed over me. The kiss deepened, and everything else
disappeared. I didn’t want to know how things will go after this.
