ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW

You are required to write a detailed project report that covers all phases of the project management lifecycle,
from initiation to closure. You may choose to base your report on either a fictitious project or an existing
one. The project can be related to any domain, such as software development, construction, event planning,
marketing, or any other field of your choice.

ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVES

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the project management lifecycle.

2. Apply project management concepts and tools to a real or fictitious project.

3. Develop a comprehensive project report that includes all key elements from initiation to closure.

ASSIGNMENT STRUCTURE:

1. Project Initiation:

o Project Selection: Briefly describe the project and its relevance. Include the rationale for
choosing this project and its alignment with business or organizational goals.

o Project Charter: Develop a project charter that includes the project title, objectives, scope,
deliverables, stakeholders, and high-level requirements. Define the project manager and
their authority.

o Stakeholder Analysis: Identify key stakeholders and their roles. Analyze their interests,
influence, and the strategies you will use to manage their expectations.

2. Project Planning:

o Scope Management: Define the project scope, including the Work Breakdown Structure
(WBS). Discuss how scope changes will be managed.

o Time Management: Develop a project schedule, including a Gantt chart or other


scheduling tool. Discuss the critical path and any potential scheduling conflicts.

o Cost Management: Create a project budget, outlining estimated costs for all project
phases. Include a cost management plan that addresses how cost overruns will be handled.

o Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop a risk management plan, including
risk assessment, risk response strategies, and a risk register.

o Quality Management: Describe the quality objectives and standards for the project.
Develop a quality management plan that includes quality assurance and quality control
activities.

o Communication Plan: Outline the communication plan, including how information will be
distributed to stakeholders, the frequency of communication, and the methods of
communication.

o Resource Management: Identify the resources (human, physical, and technological)


required for the project. Develop a resource management plan, including roles and
responsibilities, resource allocation, and conflict resolution strategies.

o Procurement Management: If applicable, describe the procurement needs for the project,
including how vendors will be selected and managed.

3. Project Execution:

o Execution Strategy: Describe how the project will be executed, including how the project
team will be managed and how the project plan will be implemented.

o Team Management: Discuss the process for team formation, development, and
management. Include strategies for conflict resolution and maintaining team motivation.

o Change Management: Outline the change management process, including how changes
will be requested, evaluated, and implemented.

o Performance Monitoring: Describe the methods you will use to monitor project
performance against the project plan, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and
metrics.

4. Project Monitoring and Control:

o Progress Tracking: Discuss how project progress will be tracked and reported, including
tools and techniques.

o Variance Analysis: Describe how you will perform variance analysis to compare actual
performance with the project plan. Discuss how you will handle any deviations.

o Issue Management: Identify potential issues that could arise during the project and how
they will be managed. Develop an issue log template.

o Quality Control: Describe the quality control activities that will be conducted to ensure
that the project meets its quality standards.

5. Project Closure:

o Closing Processes: Describe the steps that will be taken to formally close the project.
Include the process for obtaining stakeholder acceptance of the final deliverable.

o Final Report: Outline the content of the final project report, including a summary of project
outcomes, lessons learned, and a reflection on the project’s success.

o Lessons Learned: Discuss how lessons learned during the project will be documented and
shared for future projects.

o Post-Implementation Review: If applicable, describe the process for conducting a post-


implementation review to assess the project's long-term impact and success.

DELIVERABLES:

• A comprehensive project report covering all the phases mentioned above.

• Supporting documents such as the project charter, WBS, Gantt chart, risk register, budget, and any
other relevant materials.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

• Depth and accuracy of the project report.

• Application of project management principles and techniques.

• Quality and clarity of documentation and presentation.

• Ability to identify and manage project risks, issues, and changes.

• Thoroughness in project planning, execution, and closure.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
