Growing fast J
The sport of rock climbing is growing more and more popular.
Why? It's exciting, it's quite easy to learn and you can now do it
indoors or outdoors! When you're learning (or when it's cold and
raining!) you can do it at your local sports centre. When you know
how to do it, you can go rock climbing outdoors on real rocks at
special activity centres.
Take it slowly J
Jake Jackson, a rock climbing instructor in London, says, 'Many
people think that rock climbing is difficult and dangerous. It isn't. Just
take it slowly, have some lessons and listen carefully to your instructor.
Most young people learn quickly and easily. When you can climb, the next
step is to learn abseiling - that means you go down the mountain on a rope
Safety first
To do rock climbing
safely, you need a good
pair of climbing shoes or
trainers, a helmet, a special
harness, strong ropes and
a qualified instructor!

On the school wall there were red and yellow

This is very serious. There are now graffiti

'Sam! Are you OK?'
'Jade! What are you doing here?'
'I can't believe it's you! Is your leg OK?'
'Yes, it hurts but I'm OK. Are you going
to tell Mr Piper?' Sam was anxious.
'No, I'm not,' said Jade. She looked at
Sam and Benny. 'I'm not going to tell
Mr Piper. You are. We all want our
