The COVID-19 pandemic has caused an enormous amount of disruption across the globe. The
food service industry in particular has been hit hard. Restaurants have had to adapt to restrictions
brought in to deal with the coronavirus. __31__ While these are good alternatives, there is still some
risk involved for staff and the people who order the meals.
Takeout and food delivery help reduce the possibility of spreading COVID-19 because they
lower people’s exposure to others who are possibly infected with the disease. __32__ This means
that, even with takeaway and food delivery, servers, drivers, and customers all still need to take
some precautions.
Regarding food delivery, the safest way is to use contactless methods. This typically involves
customers paying by credit card over the internet or through an app. After the order is placed and
the food is delivered, the delivery driver leaves the food in a package outside the person’s door.
__33__
Even with contactless delivery, however, there is a possibility that the coronavirus could exist

We don’t live forever, and neither do our pets. Just as with our human loved ones, we wish for
our animal friends to pass naturally and painlessly in their sleep. As we all know, though, that isn’t
always the case, and we may have to make the very difficult and heartbreaking decision to put them
down.
For most pet owners and veterinarians, animal euthanasia isn’t a matter to be taken lightly.
First and foremost is always the animals’ welfare. If they are suffering from terminal diseases like
cancer or rabies, there is no question that euthanasia is the fastest and most humane solution.
However, the decision becomes harder to make if the animals are facing old age, non-terminal
diseases, or injuries that cause endless pain. In those cases, pet owners and vets are tasked with
having to determine if the animals are suffering needlessly and if their quality of life has been
severely reduced.
Making the decision to euthanize a beloved pet is never easy, but knowing about the process
may help pet owners better come to terms with it. The initial step is to make the pet as comfortable
as possible, which may or may not involve a tranquilizer. Then, the euthanasia drug is injected,
upon which the pet immediately loses consciousness, with death coming painlessly within minutes.
There may be some movement after the pet passes, but those are just bodily reflexes that occur
normally after death.
After the passing of their beloved pets, owners need time to grieve and deal with their absence.
Some spend time with their pets’ bodies after euthanasia to say goodbye. Others perform acts to
honor and remember them, such as burying them in their backyards or scattering their ashes at a
memorable place. Animal euthanasia may be a kind act, but it is also very emotional for everybody
involved.
B 35. What is the passage mainly about?
(A) What chemicals are in the euthanasia drug.
(B) How to cope with pet euthanasia.
(C) What to expect if a pet is not euthanized.
(D) How to tackle guilt over euthanizing your pet.
B 36. According to the passage, what function does a tranquilizer most likely serve?
(A) To detect signs of pain in pets. (B) To relieve pets’ anxiety or stress.
(C) To increase pets’ mental alertness. (D) To make the pet owner comfortable.
A 37. What does “upon which” in the third paragraph refer to?
(A) As soon as the shot is given.
(B) The moment the initial step is taken.

Located nearly 200 meters underground is “the First Wonder of Colombia.” It is the Catedral
de Sal, or Salt Cathedral, of Zipaquirá, a city just outside the country’s capital of Bogotá. Not only
is this church a place of pilgrimage for many Roman Catholics, but it’s also a must-see destination
for millions of tourists from around the world.
What draws people to the Salt Cathedral is the fact that it was built in the footprint of an old
salt mine. After entering through one of the original tunnels, visitors come to a shaft with the
Stations of the Cross, representing the 14 stages of Jesus Christ’s last day on Earth. At its end
awaits a large domed space with three naves representing the birth, life, and death of Christ. There,
visitors can take in the enormous floor-to-ceiling cross carved into the wall and illuminated with
purple lights.
While it’s quite grand in scale now, the Salt Cathedral came from humble beginnings.
Commercial mining of salt in the area began in the 1800s, and the work was extremely dangerous.
As a way to protect themselves from toxic gases, explosions, and other accidents, the miners in the
1930s carved out a small sanctuary and prayed to the Virgen de Guasa, the patron saint of miners,
before starting work. Later, the government was persuaded to convert the resulting empty spaces
into a church. Opened in the mid-1950s, the Salt Cathedral consisted of the three naves and the cross.
However, due to its being inside an active mine, the church experienced structural problems
and was closed on account of safety issues in the early 1990s. It wasn’t long, though, before
construction began on a new church. It was a massive undertaking, as the new space ended up being
200 feet under the old one and new features were added to create the Salt Cathedral people know
and appreciate today.
D 39. Which of the following best demonstrates why the Catedral de Sal is “the First Wonder of
Colombia?”
(A) It’s the perfect setting to sample the country’s vibrant culture and architecture.
(B) It reveals the ruins of an ancient civilization that draw crowds from near and far.
(C) It contains the largest collection of sculptures and religious monuments in Colombia.
(D) Its structure represents a beautiful mix of religion and architecture that will leave you
breathless.
C 40. According to the passage, which of the following statements about the Salt Cathedral is
NOT true?
(A) The cathedral is comprised of 14 small stations connected by tunnels.

You might not realize it, but fintech is a large part of our day-to-day lives. We get our
smartphones scanned to make purchases at shops, restaurants, and convenience stores. We also pay
for things like apps, music, and Uber rides with a stored credit card or maybe even in Bitcoin.
There’s more to fintech than just making payments, though. A portmanteau for “financial
technology,” fintech is an umbrella term for any technology that is used to augment, streamline, and
disrupt traditional financial services. This includes software, algorithms, and applications for use on
computers and mobile devices. Fintech platforms allow companies, businesses, and consumers to
better manage their financial operations, which includes money transfers, investment management,
and financial assistance.
As life becomes more technology-based, there are more and more opportunities for fintech
companies. Even so, the medium in which fintech companies thrive is also a cause for their concern
because it’s teeming with cyber criminals just waiting to attack.
Therefore, the top concern for fintech companies is cyber security. One major issue they must
tackle is having a reliable cloud provider, as it sees lots of personal and professional data passing
through daily, which allows attackers to work undetected. Another challenge is preventing malware
attacks, which are highly transferable and can result in network crashes. They are especially
dangerous because they can gain entry via multiple sources like emails, pop-up ads, and third-party
software. Yet another threat can come from the fintech companies’ apps themselves, since they may
make it easy for attackers to gain access to an entire network. These are just the tip of the iceberg,
so if you’re looking to jump on the fintech bandwagon, you should do your homework first.
B 43. What is this passage mainly about?
(A) How fintech companies protect their business and data against advanced cyber-threats.
(B) What fintech means today as it continues to evolve and what challenges it may
D 45. According to the passage, which of the following best fits the blank space?
