    music to jazz, blues, and vaudeville, mainly in the U.S. and Great Britain. Swing
    jazz b ecame the first mainstream genre in the 1930s, with iconic stars like Louis
    Armstrong and Bing Crosb y shaping natio nal culture. By the 1940s, the creation of
    Billboard charts and the ris e of Frank Sinatra’s unique vocal style mark ed the
    growing id entity of individual p erformers. The 1950s saw the emergence of rock 'n'
    roll, with pioneers like C huck Berry and Elvis Presley breaking racial barriers.In
    the 1960s, The Beatles revol utionized pop, embracing the album era and
    contributing to the rise of psychedelic rock and other subgenres. The 1970s saw
    the rise of disco, hard rock , and glam rock, while the 1980s embraced post-disco
    dance music, synth-pop, and global stars like Michael Jackson and Madonna. MTV
    became a key platform for connecting artists with audiences through music
    videos.The 1990s highlighted female artists like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston,
    while genres like Brit-pop and gangster rap emerged. Teen pop stars lik e Britney
    Spears a nd R&B acts like TLC and Us her also s hap ed the decad e. In the 2000s,
    pop fused with hip-hop and electronic music, with artists like Beyo ncé a nd Us her
    leading the way, and hip-hop b ecame a dominant force in the 2010s with the rise
    of trap music.Today, pop music is a global p henomenon, though its dominance
    sometimes overshadows traditio nal and native-language music. This presents a
    challenge to preserving cultural identities and diverse musical heritages.
