Job application for Creative Strategist role

The ask:

The Answer

1. My understanding of D2C space

Jo dikhta tha, wahi bikta tha.

Aur yahan dikhne ka matlab IMPRESSIONS hai

- If I work on a brand, It might have 10 competitors selling the same product with
similar USPs, similar brand messages and ofcourse to the same consumers.
Here, if I have to sell a product, I’d rather look at what other brands are doing and try
not to copy even 1% of what they are doing. I believe original content will always
work, once you figure out the right ways to execute it and present it on social media.

- I’d rather look into different ways of representing the brand through various
campaigns, be it controversial pre-buzz campaigns through social media or the ganji
chudail videos. I’d check the virality factor (Yes, ofc, client se approval lena padhega
kyunki client bolega this doesn’t align well with our brand and we have to back it up
with insights to convince the brand that how good this campaign would work for you)

- To understand your client’s brand, you need to be obsessed with the brand itself
like it’s your own, understand what the audience is consuming, make progress and
deliver results. I believe D2C offers us marketers a chance to express ourselves and
our creativity through social media.

- In this digital world, I believe, us marketers are outdated as soon as we miss on a

trend, yet catching on every single trend isn’t possible, we have to find a balance to
make things work.

2. Creative strategy field

- For me, to execute an idea in a creative way or a new way is a win. It might work,
might not but learning something new daily is what gets me going.

- For me, yes, representation is crucial but also I might go against everyone, upload
a half-frame meme video backed by a super copy to make things work too, which of
course I’ve done for some of my clients.

I’ll share 2 examples here:

1. Good representation with results

2. Bad representation, still look at the results

When you know what people want to see and read, you give them that. You can be
creative in many ways, you just need to figure out the mindset of the audience you
are dealing with.

Concluding that, for me, the key is experimenting. Win or fail, doesn’t matter, until
you don’t experiment, you don’t grow.

Apart from that I look to make my work easier, I use a lot of Gen AI but I don’t use
ChatGPT. I believe GPT hampers your creativity - Just a personal opinion.

3. Favourite Strategist?

I do not read about or follow a lot of people from the industry. Though I’m sure my
favourite strategist is quite different from the other responses you’ll get on this job
application.

Here, shocked?

I’ll tell you, I’ve seen this guy grow from 50k to 1M. Yet, his strategy was very simple.
Call out people: add a personal touch, add controversy. Your account will boom!

This guy literally picked topics which are a little less talked about, but probably
common in boys group chats. He started calling out the common names in his videos
and started receiving a lot of shares on his reels which eventually converted into
followers.

Now, he has his helpline numbers, he is selling products and what not.

Just with that personal touch, topics with relatability and virality factor, this guy has
converted his IG account into cash.

Thank you,
