1. The signal coming from the head is boosted by the programs space, and this is made possible via the time
equalizer (1C101) amplified first and next by the level constant assured by the capacitor (C146, C149) and

which is shown: thru 7-4.

APSS switch kept off, the Q104 and Q105 remain

or not a voltage is present at the D 102—1 (see
The unit is designed to provide VU indication for Step 2), and this is summed ‘up;
both the tape playback mode and the radio reception

3) In the case the APSS switch is pushed on just when
the programs space (non-signal recorded part) is
being traced in playback:
Here, the Q104 is kept off (see Figure 7—2), and
assuming the charging of C152 is not yet completed,
the Q106 turns on to permit the timer standby
mode. If the tape advances to the signal recorded
part, the Q104 turns on and the C152 discharges
(see Figure 7—3). Then, if the tape reaches the
programs space, the Q104 turns off, a current is
caused at the C152, the Q106 turns on, and the
plunger is activated (see Figure 7—4).
4) In the case the APSS switch is pushed on just when
the signal (program) recorded part is being traced
in playback:
The Q104 turns on (Figure 7—3), and if the programs
space is reached, the plunger will be on as shown
in Figure 7—4.
5) Besides with the APSS switch on, the Q103 turns
on to stop (mute) the VU signal coming from the Figure 7—2
power amplifier (1C103).
= ALC (Automatic Level Control)
The ALC feature is provided by the level comparator
(1C102). DC voltage at pin of the 1C102 varies —
in a linear form — according to the strength_of input,
and the resultant voltage is applied to pin (16) of the
record/playback amplifier (1C101).
D105 serves as a buffer for the ALC time constant circuit
(C147, R151) — without the function of rectification.
