ONLINE IDENTITY THEFT
Identity theft occurs when criminals steal a victim's

personal information to commit criminal acts.
Using this stolen information, a criminal takes over the
victim's identity and conducts a range of fraudulent
activities in their name.
DATA MINING
Data is the bread and butter of social media
platforms. They do everything based on your
information – tailor their services, serve ads, analyze
the market, build business models, etc. Some data
you’ve given to them is personal, like your name, email
addresses, date of birth, or where you live.
THIRD PARTY DATA
SHARING
Third-party data sharing is the transfer of data from an
original receiver to another entity. This other entity
often does not have a direct relationship with
customers who own the data collected. This process
starts with two entities agreeing to share customer
data.
DATA BREACHES
Data breaches or data leaks can be far more than
a temporary terror — they may change the course
of your life. Businesses, governments, and
individuals alike can experience huge
complications from having sensitive information
exposed.
PISHING ATTACKS
phishing attack - “Phishing” refers to an attempt to steal sensitive
information, typically in the form of usernames, passwords, credit
card numbers, bank account information or other important data in
order to utilize or sell the stolen information. By masquerading as a
reputable source with an enticing request, an attacker lures in the
victim in order to trick them, similarly to how a fisherman uses bait
to catch a fish.
MALWARE
MALWARE - Malware, or “malicious software,” is an

umbrella term that describes any malicious program or code
that is harmful to systems.
RANSOMWARE
Ransomware is a type of malware that prevents or limits users
from accessing their system, either by locking the system's screen
or by locking the users' files until a ransom is paid. More modern
ransomware families, collectively categorized as
cryptoransomware, encrypt certain file types on infected systems
and force users to pay the ransom through certain online payment
methods to get a decryption key.
DATA MISUSE OF
COMPANIES
Data misuse occurs when individuals or organizations use personal

data beyond those stated intentions. Often, data misuse isn’t the
result of direct company action but rather the missteps of an
individual or even a third-party partner.

access to, personal data.

Security breaches can result in financial losses

for individuals and organizations. This includes
direct theft of funds and the costs associated
with recovering from such incidents.

For businesses and public figures, breaches of

privacy can damage reputations, erode trust,
and impact relationships with customers and
stakeholders,

It is the result of an action that directly or

indirectly affects substantive legal rights or
obligations
SOCIAL TRUST
Social trust is a belief in the honesty,

integrity and reliability of others.
PSYCHOLOGICAL IMPACT
It refers to any factor impacting or arising in

the mind related to the mental and emotional
state of a person.
