QUALITY
ASSESSMENT
2.1 Clarity of Learning Targets
2.1.1. Cognitive Targets

2.1.2. Skills, Competencies and Abilities

Targets
2.1.3. Production, Outputs and Projects
Targets
2.1 Clarity of Learning Targets
• Learning targets need to be stated in
behavioral terms or terms which denote
something which can be observed through the
behavior of the students.
• Measurable
1. " to understand the concept of buoyancy "

" to be able to explain how buoyancy affects the

floating and sinking of objects "

2. "Learn about different types of government."

"Compare and contrast the features of three different

types of government (democracy, monarchy,
dictatorship). "
2.1.1. Cognitive Targets
As early as the
1950's, Bloom
(1954), proposed
a hierarchy of
educational
objectives at the
cognitive level.
Bloom's Taxonomy & Cognitive Targets

Level 1: Knowledge: Basic recall of facts, concepts, and

theories.

Level 2: Comprehension: Understanding the relationships

between facts and concepts, going beyond simple
memorization.

Level 3: Application: Using knowledge in new situations or

applying it to different contexts.
Level 4: Analysis: Breaking down complex concepts into
their components and understanding how they relate.

Level 5: Synthesis: Putting together different components

to form a new whole or understanding.

Level 6: Evaluation and Reasoning: Making judgments,

assigning value, or assessing the worth of concepts or
principles.
Level 1: Knowledge
- Jose Rizal was a Filipino who fought for his country's freedom from
Spain. He was killed by the Spanish government in 1896.

Level 2: Comprehension
- Rizal wrote two famous books, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo,"
that showed how unfair the Spanish rule was and made Filipinos want to
be free.

Level 3: Application
- We can use Rizal's books to understand why Filipinos fought for
independence from Spain.
Level 4: Analysis
- Rizal wanted change, so he used peaceful ways like writing and
speaking out against the Spanish, but he also thought about how to
fight back if needed.

Level 5: Synthesis
- Rizal's life shows us how powerful words and courage can be in
making a difference.

Level 6: Evaluation and Reasoning

- We can look at Rizal's life and see how he helped Filipinos find
their identity, fight for freedom, and develop their own culture.
