When to use?
We use the Present Perfect to talk about:

Actions that happened at an unspecified time in the past.


Actions that started in the past and continue to the present.
Experiences up to the present.
Recent actions or changes with present relevance.
EXAMPLES
UNSPECIFIED PAST: She has traveled to Japan.
PAST TO PRESENT: He has lived in New York for five years.
EXPERIENCES: They have tried sushi before.
RECENT CHANGES: I have just finished my homework.
How to use?
POSITIVE STRUCTURE:
All subjects take the past participle form of the verb.

Attention!
In the English language, the verbs are divided into two:
REGULAR VERBS
Regular verbs form their past participle by adding -d, -ed or -ied to the base form.

IRREGULAR VERBS
Irregular verbs do not follow a consistent pattern for their past participle forms.
Each irregular verb has a unique past participle!
REGULAR VERBS
How to spell?
If the verb ends in a silent e, simply add -d.
live lived
hate hated
bake baked

Mum has baked a raspberry pie.


How to spell?
For most verbs, simply add -ed.
talk talked
clean cleaned
watch watched

She has watched her favorite show.


How to spell?
If the verb ends in a consonant + y,
change the "y" to "i" and add -ed.
cry cried
carry carried
study studied

He has studied English since morning.


IRREGULAR VERBS
Here’s a list of some of the most common irregular verbs:

FOR SINCE
AND
For
“For” indicates the duration of time.
Examples:
I have studied Medicine for five years.
She has played the piano for three years.
They have worked there for six months.
SINCE
“Since” refers to the starting point of the action.
Examples:
I have read 30 pages since yesterday.
He has worked as a teacher since 2010.
We have waited for her since 8 PM.
