    In today’s globalized world, English is often seen as the key to success.

    Its dominance in international busi-


    ness, technology, and media means that proficiency in English can open doors to countless opportunities.
    However, this growing emphasis on English comes with significant consequences for other languages and
    the communities that speak them.

    Many people from less affluent backgrounds face barriers to learning English due to the high costs associ-
    ated with education and resources. As English becomes increasingly essential for accessing better job
    prospects and participating in the global economy, those who cannot afford English education are left at a
    disadvantage. This difference makes social and economic inequalities worse, giving more power to those
    who already have it.

    Simultaneously, the push for English proficiency contributes to the decline of lesser-known languages.
    When economic opportunities and social mobility are tied to English, younger generations may prioritize
    learning it over their native languages. This shift can lead to a big loss of linguistic diversity, with unique cul-
    tural and historical knowledge disappearing along with these languages.

    The impact of this phenomenon extends beyond individual communities. Each language carries its own
    worldview and way of thinking, and the loss of languages means the loss of diverse perspectives and cul-
    tural richness. As we move towards a more interconnected world, it's crucial to recognize the value of lin-
    guistic diversity and work to ensure that efforts to learn and use English do not come at the expense of
    other languages and cultures.

    To address this issue, we need to promote and support multilingualism. Educational policies should provide
    opportunities for learning both English and native languages, and efforts must be made to preserve and re-
    vitalize endangered languages. By valuing and investing in linguistic diversity, we can create a more equi-
    table and culturally rich global society.
