 Make sure the excavation, pipe ( HDPE, PVC ), and tray are ready when puling the cable.

 Pull and cut the cable based on latest cable schedule.

 Write down length of the cable as a report, and cut the cable base on cable schedule.
 Rotate the drum while pulling to loosen cable strength.
 Maintain a close look at the cable & drum status to see any defects that could possibly damage
the cable.
 Cut the cable follow latest cable schedule.
 After cable are pulled, dressing the cable as per design.
 Put cable marker and install as per typical drawing.
 After cable are pulled do continuity test and insulation resistance test.

12.4 Pulling In Pipe

 Plastic rope in the pipe is connected to the sling wire to pull the sling wire in the pipe.
 After the cable sling passes through the pipe, connect the cable with the cable sling to be
pulled with a hydraulic puller.

 Use cable stocking to grip the cable tip firmly.

 Watchman with radio communication shall monitor at the drum location to ensure the cable
drum is not stack. The watchmen shall inform immediately to stop the pulling if the cable drum
stack.

12.5 Dressing of The Cable Laid on Cable Ladder / Cable Tray

 After the cable being pulled and laid on the cable ladder, the cable shall be properly secured
with cable-tie to the rung of cable ladder at the distance typical installation drawing. And special
for single core cable power, to be collected into (R, S, T) one line and tied with cable ties
stainless steel coated every 3 meters.

16
12.6 Install Cable Tagging
 Cable shall be installed cable marking as per cable schedule tag. And install cable tie as per
typical installation also project specification.
 The tagging number and material will be in accordance with the latest revision cable schedule
and typical drawing for cable.
 Ensure all cable ID tagging is correct and identical throughout the length of cable as per typical
installation and project specification.

12.7 Install Trefoil for Single Core LV Cable

 Install power cable as per standard trefoil.

12.8 Repair Damage Jacket Cable
12.8.1 Minor Damage
 Small hole - the depth any hole that does not penetrated through the armor shall be
considered as a small hole and diameter of the hole should less than 1 cm, outer sheath
crack maximum 200 cm length. The reason why the maximum outer sheath crack is 200
cm length because based on the specification of Flame Retardant Cat. A (IEC 60332-3-
22:2000-10) the maximum extent of charred portion measured on the sample shall not
have reached a distance exceeding 250 cm.
 Armour bloom regularly (length of bloomy armor is not more than 50 cm): in case of
armor is regularly shaped blooms that can be trimmed/repaired.

 Scratch and slice on the outer sheath surface. If found scratch and slice on the outer
sheath, contractor should be measured the deep of scratch or slice the smallest value
measured shall not fall below 80% of the nominal value by more than 0.02 cm. Or as the
following formula:
tmin ≥ 0.08 tn – 0.02
where:
tmin is the minimum thickness, in centimeter

12.8.2 Major Damage

 If found diameter of the damage hole over than 1 cm, outer sheath crack over than 200
cm length shall be considered as major damage. Armor wire break at damage area, zinc
coating of steel armor peels off (corrosion) and found broken of armor stranding, armor
bloom (bloom means armor is not in original shape or position) the cable shall be
repulled back on the drum and returned to the Manufacturing for re-sheathing or
remanufactured.
 Armor bloom irregularly (length of bloomy armor is more than 50 cm): in case of armor
is irregularly shaped blooms that cannot be trimmed/repaired. See picture bellow.

12.8.3 Repair of Cable

 Prepare the equipment for repair, such as:
a. Cutter
b. Sandpaper
c. Heat gun

18
d. Alumunium’s foil
e. Steel pipe
f. Insulation tape
g. Towel
h. Pad saw
i. Solder
j. Cable ties
 Prior to any repairs being performed using a heat gun, the location shall be verified as
being a safe area (i.e nonhazardous according to the hazardous area drawing). A gas
monitoring device shall be present at the location prior to and during any repair being
performed.
 Prepare the other piece of sheath which same type of material, color and size with the
damage cable. This piece will be placed on damage sheath. That new cable sheath
piece shall be the overlay size. Approximately dimension of the piece of outer sheath is
length of damage cable plus 2.5% and 1 cm width. For example, if the damage length is
100 cm the new overlay sheath size shall be 102.5 cm (L) and 1 cm (W)
 Slice the part of damage cable to avoid contamination of foreign material so after heating
the other piece of sheath and damage cable melting perfectly. To avoid contamination if
found any damaged of outer sheath.

 Put the piece of sheath on the damage outer sheath.

 Then wrap the piece of sheath portion by aluminum foil.
