3. Nasal Steroids

DOSAGE FORM AVAILABLE:

1. Nasal Drops 3. Nasal Powders

2. Nasal Sprays 4. Nasal Gels
APPLICATIONS:

Delivery of non-peptide pharmaceuticals with extensive pre-systemic metabolism, such as

1. Progesterone 4. Nitroglycerin
2. Estradiol 5. Sodium Chromoglyate
3. Propranolol
can be rapidly absorbed through the nasal mucosa with a systemic bioavailability of
approximately 100%
DELIVERY OF DIAGNOSTIC DRUGS DIAGNOSTIC AGENTS:

3. Compared to oral medications, intranasal medication delivery
results in faster delivery to the blood stream and higher blood
levels
4. No destruction by stomach acid and intestinal enzymes
5. No destruction by hepatic first pass metabolism
6. Compared to IV medications, intranasal medication delivery
results in comparable blood levels depending on the drug and dose.

PREPRATION METHODS:
1. Wet gum method
2. Dry gum method
3. Bottle’s methods
4. Auxillary method
