Kote PU X40
HEAT RESISTANT, SINGLE COMPONENT, EASY TO USE,
ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY WATER BASED
POLYURETHANE COATING
ikote PU X40 is heat resistant, Polyurethane based elastomeric coating. A single part system which when applied
cures to form highly elastomeric and water-resistant barrier with excellent adhesion to the substrate.
WATERPROOFING OF
Retaining walls and foundations
Lift pits and concrete structures, Gutters, planter boxes and tanks
Wet areas like Toilets, Kitchens, Balconies, etc.
As DPC layer under block work for mitigating rising dampness
Roof and wet areas
Heat resistant
High resistance to water
Best suited for damp surfaces
Excellent adhesion to substrate
Highly durable and touch film
Excellent Crack bridging ability
Environmental and application friendly

The application temperature should be between 5°C to 40°C. Application procedures may vary slightly depend-
ing upon site conditions. Recommended guidelines for the application of the coating system is as follows:
Kote

The surface must be structurally sound and free of oil, grease, dust, and other contaminants which will affect
the adhesion. Rotary wire brush or light grinding should be employed to prepare the substrate. Minor honey-
combs and potholes up to 5mm shall be repaired with cementitious mortar.
While applying ikote PU X40 over aluminum sandwich panel or corrugated sheets, make sure that all the joints
are riveted properly, and rusted sheets replaced
A primer coat is recommended on used older exposed surfaces. It seals the pores and stabilizes the surface.
ikote PU X40 diluted with 30% clean water may be used as a primer coat. It will improve the bond strength of
the coating. The drying time would be a minimum of 8 hours at 30°C.
Contents in the pail should be thoroughly stirred to ensure consistent viscosity and homogeneity. ikote PU X40
can be applied by soft bristled brush or roller or an air less spray. Apply the first coat of undiluted material at
a coverage rate of 1L/m²/coat to get a Dry Film Thickness of 0.75 mm. Subsequent coats should only be
applied after the initial cure of the first coat which should take approximately 8hrs at 30°C. The second coat
should be applied at right angle to the first at the same coverage rate, to ensure a full unbroken coating to the
substrate. For improved results a non-woven geo-textile membrane can be reinforced in to the first coat while
it is wet at expansion joint areas and on the fillets in all corners. This will give an added reinforcement to the
coating. Allow the coating to cure fully (48 hours) after which it can be made trafficable.
For Wet areas – primer coat and 2 coat application at 0.5 Ltrs / sq mtr per coat
For Damp proofing – Primer coat and 1 coat application at 0.75 Ltrs / Sq mtr per coat
For Areas with constant hydrostatic pressure – Pls refer to our detailed method statement of application
Tools can be cleaned with water while the ikote PU X40 is still fresh. When hardened, it can only be removed
by mechanical means.
20 Ltr pails
Store all materials in a covered, cool and dry place. Avoid material allowing the material to freeze which will
render the material unusable. If stored properly, iKote PU X40 has a shelf life of at least 12 months.
ikote PU X40 should not be applied if the air temperature, substrate temperature or material temperature is
greater than 450C. This may significantly reduce the open time of coating,
Do not proceed with application on external areas when rainfall is imminent .
Do not apply over light weight concrete or foam concrete.
Caution should be exercised while applying the product as it is with any other construction chemical. Impervi-
ous gloves and barrier cream should be used when handling these products.
Eye protection should be worn. If accidental eye contamination occurs, wash thoroughly with plenty of water
and seek medical advice. If contact with skin occurs, it must be removed before curing takes place.
