I noticed that most of the rock music I own is from the 2000's and
earlier and I want to find more contemporary stuff.

I wasn't hearing Modest Mouse much in the album, it felt
more like Franz Ferdinand and The Strokes recording an
album featuring Matt Schultz.

FIDLAR is probably my favorite band going right now. You
should check out the dudes that toured with em, Together
Pangea. So. Good.

Jordan Cook of Reignwolf is definitely someone who deserves
more recognition. He is amazing on guitar, not just anyone
can play guitar, drums, and sing at the same time.

Going to try to encompass some different genres of 2010s rock
for you that I've liked (EDIT: this is not in any order, I just edit
them as they come to me/I confirm their year of release).
2010:
2011:
2012:
2013:
EDIT: thank you for all the PMs so far! I know that there was
some punk and metal thrown into the mix, but I tried to keep it
to 'rock' (as wide of a spectrum as that is). If any of you would
like recommendations for albums to check out in punk or metal,
I'm happy to read your PMs!
*= Got a few questions about this. dredg are awesome, but do
NOT start with C&MS or else you will miss out on the mastery
that is El Cielo, Catch Without Arms, Leitmotif, and even The
Pariah, The Parrot, The Delusion is pretty good! C&MS is a bit of
a black mark on their discography. Start with El Cielo (2002) or
Catch Without Arms (2005) if you want to give dredg a spin.

Ha, hopefully you like at least one thing on here -- I'm a big
believer in paying it forward, so if something serves as a
catalyst for you to go spelunking in the wide, wide
spectrum that is 'rock music', I'm happy I could help!

I do know a couple of names, but the majority I haven't
listen to yet, but certainly want to try. I sometimes try
recommending stuff too, but it's hard to no come off
dickish (hey, listen to this and this and this!) or to find
the people who could be interested in the first place (i.e.
share the same music style). But, your list makes me so
curious I now want to awaken this curiosity in others!
Well done!

Don't let the concept scare you! If you're not into the fiction,
you can still love the real. Fully recommend listening in order,
loudly.

opinion)
art36 7y !
I agree, but they're both neck-and-neck together if I do say
so myself. The National are one of the few bands that
haven't reinvented their sound over their past three
records but you can still sense how much they've grown as
a band with each new album.

Undoubtedly my favorite album I've picked up in years.
Josh Homme and QOTSA have a distinct sound and feel
with each album and you can really see how all that has
come together in Like Clockwork.
It's just a shame that Like Clockwork lost the Grammy for
best rock album to Imagine Dragons. Josh and QOTSA
really deserved it.
