ii. Answer all questions in section A and B and any Two questions from section C
iii. Read carefully the instructions before answering each question.

Section A

3. On their way home, Nina and her friends saw a variety of things. Some were
living things while others were non -living things. Among the things they saw
were baobab trees, cars, Mango trees, stones, butterfly, gravels, pebbles, dogs,
water streams and birds.

4. Waste management is one of the things which help us to live healthier

i) Explain three (3) ways which can be used to manage wastes at your school
ii) How do your school community benefits from proper waste management

5. Bwanaheri is a man with an age of 40 years but his appearance looks like that
of 60 years person with wrinkled skin, grey hairs and decreased vision ability.
Predict six (06) possible factors might have caused the condition which
Bwanaheri is experiencing.
6. (a) Suppose there are the following organisms in the ecosystem: Grass, Goat,
Hen, Vulture, Grasshopper, Lizard and human being.
i. Construct a food web from the list provided organisms above
ii. From food web in which you construct which organisms are
a) Producers b) primary consumers c) Secondary consumers
(b) Which important group of organisms should be included in the provided
organisms to make the ecosystems balanced?

7. Organisms with simple body structure like Amoeba and Paramecium do not
need any elaborate system for excretion because they only use diffusion to
remove wastes from their bodies. On the other hand higher animals like
humans, cows and birds need more complex system for excretion due to their
nature, concentration and varieties of wastes they excrete.

(i) Analyse the three (03) types of excretory products excreted by higher
organisms
(ii) Cite any three (03) organs used by higher organisms for excretion.

8. In an experiment, a variety of garden peas having a smooth seed coat was


crossed with a variety having a wrinkled seed coat. All the seed obtained in
the F1 had a smooth seed coat. The F1 gene for smooth seed coat be S.
(a).Work out the genotypes for the F1
(b) Work out the following for the F2
i. phenotypes
ii. genotypes
iii. phenotypic ratio
iv. genotypic ratio
(c) If the total number of all seeds were 7342. Find out the number of
i. Wrinkled seeds
ii. Smooth seeds

SECTION C

Answer any two questions from this section

9. There are lot of microorganisms around us which can cause harm to our
health. Justify with five (05) points on how our bodies defend themselves
against them.
10. Some bacteria are useful and others are harmful to man verify this statement
by discussing three (3) points of their usefulness and three (3) points of their
harmfulness.
11. On his way home James heared a strong voice of Lion. Describe the
mechanism which enabled James to hear the voice.
