DESCRIPTION: Vials of HuCoG Injection contains Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) as a white, freeze- dried, sterile and pyrogen - free power. Three strengths are available: 2000, 5000 & 10000 I.U. ADDED SUBSTANCES: Lactose I.P. Disodium hydrogen phosphate I.P. Sodium dihydrogen phosphate I.P. One I.U. of Chorionic Gonadotrophin is defined as the activity contained in 1.279 mg of the 2nd International Standard Preparation. Each vial of HuCoG (HCG) is accompanied by a solvent ampoule containing 1 ml of isotonic, sterile and pyrogen free sodium Chloride Injection solution. PROPERTIES: Human Chorionic Gonadotrophin (HCG) is a hormonal substance obtained from urine of pregnant women. Its action is predominately luteinizing.
INDICATIONS: Anovulatory Infertility In female patient, HuCoG Inj. is used in the treatment of a anovulatory infertility, where its administration would form part of recognized treatment regimen involving the prior stimulation of follicular maturation and endometrial proliferation e.g. with Menotropin Injection (HuMoG). Hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism and cryptorchidism: In male patient, HuCoG Inj. stimulated the interstitial cells of the testes and consequently the secretion of androgens and the development of secondary sexual characteristics. With concomitant Menotropin Inj. (HuMoG) therapy, HuCoG Inj. stimulates the induction and maintenance of spermatogenesis. HuCoG is also indicated in the treatment of hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism and cryptorchidism DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: HuCoG is given by intramuscular Injection only. The injection should be reconstituted with solvent and it should be prepared just prior to use. Anovulatory Infertility: HuCoG Inj. 10000 I.U. is administered in mid-cycle, following treatment with Menotropin Inj. (HuMoG) according to a recognized scheme. Details of Menotropin Inj. (HuMoG) dosages and monitoring are available on request. Hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism: HuCoG IM Inj. 500-4000 I.U. thrice weekly for 6 to 9 months with serum testosterone levels regularly monitored and concomitant use of HuMoG (Menotropin Inj.) one vial three times a week, is often added to enable spermatogenesis. Cryptochidism: HuCoG Inj. 1000 I.U. is injected on alternate days for several weeks.
CONTRAINDICATION AND WARNINGS: Stimulation of ovulation with HuMoG may lead to super ovulation and the hyperstimulation syndrome. Oestrogen assays will detect and excessive response so that HuCoG Inj. (HCG) may be withheld in that particular treatment cycle. In the male, high dosages of HuCoG Inj. may lead to oedema and in such cases dosages should be considerably reduced. If signs of sexual precocity are observed a reduced dosage regimen should be instituted. STORAGE: Vials of HuCoG Inj. should be stored at 2080C protected from light. Solution of HuCoG reconstituted in physiological sodium chloride solution and should be used immediately after preparation. Discard any unused portion. PRESENTATION: HuCoG Inj. 2000 I.U. / 5000 I.U. / 10000 I.U. packed as a single vial and it is accompanied by one ampoule of 1 ml. Sodium Chloride Injection as solvent. Drugs should be stored out of reach of children.
