“W hen you speak in tongues, you’re not talking


to men but to God. You’re speaking mysteries
– secret truths, hidden things that are not obvious to the
understanding. When you speak in other tongues, secret
truths and realities are being revealed.... You may need an
idea or a plan for your own life. You may not even know
what steps to take, but when you speak in other tongues,
the truths will be revealed to your spirit and you would
know what to do. Jesus said, “He that believeth on me, as
the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living
water” (John 7:38 KJV). So, when those thoughts or words
well up in you, you receive secret truths from God.”

LET’S TALK
ill had formed a habit of always standing in
front of his mirror and declaring, “I know who
I am; I am a success; I am top class; the world is mine; I’m
victorious, healthy, and strong every day of my life.” This
intrigued Ralph, his bunkmate, who confronted him with
this question: “What in the world are you doing?”
Will simply replied to Ralph: “Words are seeds; my life
is the fruit of those seeds, and I’m speaking what I want in
my life.”
In explaining the parable of the sower (Matthew 13:1-
9, 18-23, Luke 8:4-8, 11-15, and Mark 4:3-8, 13-20), the Lord
Jesus lets us know that words are seeds and what you sow is
what you reap. If you sow the right words into your life and
future, they’ll produce the right harvest. So, always steer your
life in God’s direction for you with the right words.
You can’t keep speaking negatively and expect to have
an excellent life. Proverbs 15:4 says, “A wholesome tongue
is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” Here,
Solomon connects words with seeds, trees, and fruits. A
wholesome tongue is one that speaks life, health, healing,
righteousness, and abundance. That wholesome tongue is a
tree of life.

Many unknowingly bruise their spirits by speaking words
that are inconsistent with the provisions of the Gospel. This is
why you must train yourself to talk right. Speak blessed words.
Your life goes in the direction of your words. Colossians 4:6 TPT
says, “Let every word you speak be drenched with grace and
tempered with truth and clarity. For then you will be prepared to
give a respectful answer to anyone who asks about your faith.”
In other words, don’t speak idle, inoperative, and uninspiring
words because you’d give account of your words: “But I say to you
that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of
it in the day of judgment” (Matthew 12:36). Your life today is the
harvest of all the words you’ve been speaking. Therefore, always
speak righteousness, peace, health, wealth, and joy.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation,
or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or
sword? As it is written, ‘For your sake we are being killed all the day
long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these
things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

LET’S TALK
ur opening scripture tells us very evidently and
unequivocally that no tribulation (trouble), distress,
persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, nor sword shall be able
to separate us from God’s love. It then concludes by saying
that we are more than conquerors through Him who loves
us, Christ Jesus. Being more than a conqueror means you
conquered in Christ before the earth itself was founded! This
should give you immediate comfort, peace, and joy. You’re
right now living in the victory of Christ.
Remember, the Lord assured us of victory over crises
and challenges when He said, “These things I have spoken to
you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have
tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33). The Bible says in 1 John 4:4 AMPC, “Little children,
you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated
and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He
Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the
world.” You’ve been lifted over and above the corrupting
influences of this world. Hallelujah!

There’s nothing to struggle with or try to overcome
anymore. When He arose from the grave a victor and a
champion, you were in Him. Don’t allow the circumstances of
life make you a victim. You were born into the victorious life in
Christ: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in
Christ, and through us reveals the fragrance of the knowledge of
Him in every place” (2 Corinthians 2:14 NASB). Glory!

Thanks be to God who always causes me to triumph in Christ and


spread the sweet-smelling fragrance of His knowledge in every
place! Thank you, Father, for my victorious life in Christ! I live

TO THE BIBLE 2 Peter 3:17 GNB
“But you, my friends, already know this. Be on your guard, then,
so that you will not be led away by the errors of lawless people
and fall from your safe position.”

LET’S TALK

L et’s look at an exhortation and warning the Holy


Spirit gives through the Apostle Peter in today’s
opening verse. The New International Version (NIV) of
the verse says, “Therefore, dear friends, since you already
know this, be on your guard so that you may not be carried
away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure
position.” Basically, Apostle Peter is saying to watch out so
you don’t get misled by “the error of lawless men….”
The Living Bible puts it like this: “I am warning you
ahead of time, dear brothers, so that you can watch out and
not be carried away by the mistakes of these wicked men,
lest you yourselves become mixed up too.” Here, it’s called
the mistakes of the wicked: their miscalculations because of
their ignorance.
Hebrews 3:12 also warns, “Beware, brethren, lest there
be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the
living God.” The original Greek word for unbelief, “Apistia,”
means disbelief, or arising from disobedience. Verse 13
adds, “…Exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,”
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”
How do we exhort one another daily? It’s with the
Word. The Word is the only material to help us grow and be

shielded from the error of the lawless and the miscalculations
of the wicked. With the Word, you can diligently guard your
heart against unbelief and anything that tries to change or
destroy the excellence that God already programmed in you.
Study and meditate on the Scriptures until your whole
spirit, soul and body are programmed to only think God’s
thoughts and influenced only by His ideas and opinions.

Dear Father, I delight in your Word and yield to it for exhortation,


doctrine and counsel. In your Word, I’ve found life, peace,

“…You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation,
[God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the
wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him
Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

LET’S TALK

O ur opening verse shows that you and I are royal


priests; isn’t this just amazing? What do priests
do, you ask? Well, the scriptures show us three important
roles of the priest: he’s to offer gifts, intercede in prayer, and
teach the knowledge of God. These are the responsibilities
the Lord Jesus would have us carry out on earth, and
by studying the writings of the prophets concerning the
millennial reign of Christ and by looking at what Israel will
be doing at that time, you’ll easily understand our roles as
priests today.
The millennial reign of Christ—the one-thousand-year
reign of Christ on earth—is the period of Israel’s restoration
and their exercise of the Christ-life, which we already had
throughout the Church age. Thus, the millennial reign isn’t
towards the Church; the Church already reigned on earth
for two thousand years THROUGH Jesus Christ (Romans
5:17) and will reign WITH Him in the millennial period.
So, when do we function as priests? When do we
teach the knowledge of God, intercede for everyone, and
offer gifts? NOW! Our priesthood is now! Revelation 1:6
says, “…Jesus Christ…made us kings and priests to His God

and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
Amen.” Revelation 5:10 also says He has “…made us kings and
priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” We’re in
office as king-priests of God on earth.
He’s given us the responsibility to alter the course
of events and happenings in our world today through
intercession, sacrifices of praise to the Name of the Lord, and
the propagation of His truth in all the earth. Glory to God!

Dear Father, by your Spirit, I fulfil my ministry of intercession as a

“...Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who
believes.”

LET’S TALK

“L isa, I heard you preaching a minute ago; did you


say Jesus Christ fulfilled the law for righteousness
and now, being born again, we don’t have to keep the law of
Moses to be righteous?” Sean asked.
“Yeah, and I meant it! Romans 10:4 says that the Lord
Jesus fulfilled all of God’s requirements for our righteousness,
and now, by reason of our being in Christ, we’ve been ushered
into the life of righteousness, fulfilled promises, and blessings
now,” Lisa explained.
You know, God spoke to Moses and instructed him
to tell the Israelites that if they’d obey his voice, then they’d
be His treasured possession—a priestly kingdom and a holy
nation: “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and
keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me
above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to
Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation…” (Exodus 19:5-6).
But, thank God, that promise which was preconditioned
on Israel’s obedience to the Law has been fulfilled in us
through the Lord Jesus Christ. We have been ushered into
this fulfilled promise by the new birth in Christ, and we’re now
His special treasure above all people. Hallelujah!

That’s the reason Apostle Peter declared in his letter, “…
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation,
[God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth
the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of
Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1
Peter 2:9 AMPC).
Additionally, the Spirit says through Apostle Paul in 2
Corinthians 1:20, “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and
in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.” All the blessings
have been fulfilled in Christ Jesus. You’re not waiting on God to
fulfil any promise; you can live in the reality of these promises
and blessings even now. Hallelujah!

“For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives
he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and
alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

LET’S TALK

W hat we just read is absolutely life-transforming


and superb: we’re alive to God and awake to all
the spiritual realities of the Kingdom. Hallelujah! The Apostle
Paul made a similar statement in Ephesians 2:1; it says, “And
you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.”
When Jesus died, you were in Him and died in Him. When
God raised Him from the dead, you were raised together with
Him. You were awakened in God; you came alive in the spirit.
This is the reason you can understand the realities of God’s
Kingdom. The one who isn’t born again isn’t alive to God; he’s
dead spiritually and gropes in the darkness.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “…The natural man does not
receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness
to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually
discerned.” In Luke 8:10, the Lord Jesus said it is given to you
to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Every so often,
declare that you’re filled with the knowledge of God’s will, in
all wisdom and spiritual understanding. Affirm that you have
an understanding heart. This is all part of your heritage in
Christ.

The Lord Jesus said in John 8:12, “…I am the light of
the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but
have the light of life.” 1 Corinthians 2:12 NIV says, “We have not
received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God,
that we may understand what God has freely given us.” You have
insight into the mysteries and realities of the Kingdom, into your
inheritance, rights, benefits, privileges and blessings in Christ.

with God all things are possible.””

LET’S TALK

S ome young people have unnecessary regrets that


they nurture in their hearts: “If only I had studied
harder, I would have been top of my class by now,” “If only I
had eaten healthier, I would have been in great shape by now,”
and the like. But you see, it makes no difference where you are
in life and the circumstances in which you find yourself today;
you can still win; you can be a success if you don’t give up.
With God, nothing is ever too late or impossible. Therefore,
don’t despair. Renew your mind with the Word. Change your
thinking.
As you grow spiritually, there could be times of
difficulties and tough challenges. But those challenges are
your opportunities to demonstrate your faith in the Lord and
prove His Word. God gave us His Word to live by and to use
in creating our glorious and triumphant lives. So, it’s your
responsibility to use the Word, to work the Word. Philippians
2:12 (NIV) says, “…continue to work out your salvation with fear
and trembling.”
That was what Abraham did. God said to him, “(As it
is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the
presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the
dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they

did” (Romans 4:17). At this time, Abraham was nearly a hundred
years old and didn’t have a child, but he believed and acted on
the Word. Romans 4:20 says He didn’t stagger at the promise
of God through unbelief, but he was strong in faith, giving glory
to God!
The change you desire in your ministry, academics,
finances, health, and family is possible and dependent on you.
Act on the Word. Insist that nothing but what the Word of God
says will prevail in your life, and it shall be so. Be ever joyful,
declaring your glorious life, righteousness and victory in Christ
Jesus.

My mind is constantly renewed by the Word to think and produce


excellence. The Word of God is prevailing in my life, producing what
it talks about. I spread the fragrance of God’s knowledge in every

KNOW?

THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST


is primarily a time of judgment for the world? When you read 2
Thessalonians 2:1-2, you discover that the Day of Christ refers to
the second coming of Christ. It’s the day of His wrath, the day of His
judgment (2 Thessalonians 1:7-8), and this judgment happens before
He establishes His Millennial reign—His one-thousand years of
peace—on earth. There’s so much to be said about this, but, for now,
here are some interesting facts about the Second Coming of Christ.

1. The Second Coming Is Not Meant For Christians


The Second Coming of Christ is NOT intended for Christians, while
the Rapture of the Church is meant for Christians (Remember, we
treated the Rapture in last month’s edition).

2. The Saints Are Returning To The Earth At His Second Coming


He’s not coming alone; we will be coming together with Him to
execute judgment on sinners. Remember we went with Him at the
Rapture of the Church. So, we are not waiting for the second coming
of Christ; we will be returning, after the Marriage Supper of the Lamb,
with Him to the earth (Jude 1:14-16).

3. The Duration Of The Second Coming Is Not Like The


Rapture!
Unlike the Rapture of the Church, in His Second Coming, the Lord
Jesus Christ will be in the air for a whole day—24 hours—for all the
nations to see Him (Matthew 24:30).

4. His Return Happens 7 Years After the Rapture Of The
Church.
Seven years before the second coming of Christ, the Rapture will
take place (1 Thessalonians 4:17), and we’ll go to heaven for the
Investiture of Christ and the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.

5. Jesus Is Returning To Earth Wearing A Robe Dipped In


Blood.
After the Marriage Supper, that wonderful party in Heaven, is
done, the Lord Jesus on a white horse, wearing a robe dipped in
blood, returns in His Second Coming to the earth. Revelation 19:13
says, “He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is
called The Word of God.” The significance of this? His robe dipped
in blood is His proof and receipt of purchase of the whole world
(Matthew 13:44, 1 Corinthians 6:20, 1 Peter 1:18-19).

6. He Will “Smite” The Antichrist At His Coming!


At the second coming of Jesus, the Bible says He’ll smite the
Antichrist “...with the spirit of his mouth...” (2 Thessalonians 2:8),
which refers to the sword of the Spirit—the “Rhema” of God—
words coming out of His mouth (Revelation 19:15, Ephesians 6:17).
Glorious news!

7. It Happens Immediately After The Great Tribulation.


In Matthew 24:29, where Jesus Himself speaks about this, He said,
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days....” This indicates that
the Second Coming of Christ will occur after the Great Tribulation.

Guess what? You don’t have to wait till the Second Coming of Christ
to be with Jesus. At the Rapture, everyone who received Him as Lord
will get to be with Him forevermore. Just turn to page 76 and pray

“J esus died for the whole world, including Christians,


right?”
“Well, the Lord Jesus died for everyone, but the moment
I believed in His resurrection and confessed His Lordship, I
literally became someone new, a new creation. I’m not the
same person He died for. I’ve become a new species of being
without a past,” Stephanie responded to Jessica’s question
while they studied the Bible together.
Generically, we say, Jesus died for all of us—the whole
world; He was judged for us. But when you believed that He
died for you and was raised back to life for your justification, it
became possible for eternal life to be imparted to your spirit.
Once that happened, you were born again; you became a
Christian—a new creation. The new creation is a brand-new
person, a brand-new species of being; he or she has no past.
You aren’t the same person that was born of your father
and mother; that’s the “old you” with the sin nature who died
with Christ: “Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with
Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we
should no longer be slaves of sin” (Romans 6:6). The new you—
the new creation—came from the resurrection: “Therefore we

were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as
Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even
so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4). This
“new you” is created in righteousness and holiness (Ephesians
4:24). Hallelujah!
If it’s true that the new creation has no past (and it’s true),
then he isn’t the one that Jesus died for. Understanding this will
help you a great deal in your Christian walk. It’ll make it easier for
you to understand why you’re justified. The Bible says Jesus Christ
was raised back to life for our justification (Romans 4:25). You’ve
been justified in Him. In other words, in the mind of justice, you
never sinned. You’re the righteousness of God in Christ.

LET’S TALK

O ftentimes, we say that God is loving; yes, He is. But


it’s important to understand that love isn’t just a
quality He possesses; it’s who He is. GOD IS LOVE. Love is His
nature. Everything He does is love-inspired. Ephesians 2:4-5
talks about His great and amazing love. It says, “But God still
loved us with such great love. He is so rich in compassion and
mercy. Even when we were dead and doomed in our many
sins, he united us into the very life of Christ and saved us by
his wonderful grace!” (TPT). When Jesus restored sight to
the blind, healed the deaf, made the lame to walk, restored
maimed limbs and raised the dead, they were all acts of love.
He was love made flesh; He’s love personified.
There’s an account in the Bible about a woman who
had suffered from hemorrhaging for twelve years. Despite
the risk to her life, she pushed through the crowd to touch
the hem of Jesus’ garment, seeking healing. It’s important to
understand the context here: according to the Law, anyone
with a blood issue was forbidden from physical contact with
others; discovery of her condition could have led to her being
stoned to death. However, the Bible says she thought to
herself, “If I can just put a finger on His robe, I’ll get well.” She
did and was healed instantly (Matthew 9:20-22, Mark 5:25-
24
34, and Luke 8:43-48).
Everything the Lord Jesus is and represents is love. His
communication and actions pointed everyone to the Father’s
love. He was the revelation of God’s love. He said in John 15:9
(MSG), “I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make
yourselves at home in my love.” He loves you unconditionally and
unequivocally. Let this inspire you today and always, and provoke
in you great audacity of faith.

LET’S TALK

I n our opening verse of Scripture, Paul hints at the


faith of the Son of God—the faith of Jesus Christ!
Did you know that He had faith in you? The Bible tells us
that for the joy, the glory, that was set before Him, He
endured the Cross, despising the shame (Hebrews 12:2).
You’re that joy and glory He saw for which He gave His
life, not minding to be crucified like a criminal. He saw what
you’d become by virtue of His vicarious death.
The Bible says God’s dream was to live inside man.
He desired to have man as His living, walking temple!
Think about that! In Proverbs 8:31, the Bible says the Spirit
rejoiced in the habitable part of His earth; but His delights
were with the sons of men. Jesus gave His life to realise
God’s dream: His dream of us becoming the glory of God;
His dream of us becoming the righteousness of God; His
dream of us becoming associates of the God-kind. He gave
His life so God’s plan for us to have and enjoy life to the full
would be realised.
Now we live in righteousness, prosperity, health,
dominion, victory and excellence forever because of the
faith of Jesus Christ! He had faith in what He did. He had

faith in you and trusted you with His life. He knew if you’d
believe His Gospel, you’d become like Him, and now you’re
like Him: “...As He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17).
Believe in what He did, who He is, and what He’s made you.
Believe in yourself. Live by His faith. Decide that you’re
going to be everything He died and came back to life for
you to become, achieve, and enjoy. Make up your mind your
life will be for His glory and for His praise as you fulfil your
destiny in Him.

“H ey Mark, what does it mean to live in the Spirit?


It sounds a bit mysterious to me,” Anna inquired.
Anna was a new member whom Mark had won to his cell.
“Well, there are two ways of living in the Spirit, but the
most important way is by being born into the Spirit,” Mark
replied.
“Born into the Spirit? That sounds deep!” Anna exclaimed.
“No, not really; the Lord talked about this to Nicodemus
in John 3:1-6. When you’re born again, you’re born of God’s
Spirit and therefore live in Him; it’s quite simple really,” Mark
explained.
As Christians, we don’t go in and out of the Spirit; we
live in the Spirit. Our opening verse makes it clear: it says,
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” There’re
two common expressions that you find in the Bible for
being in the Spirit. One is to be in a vision or trance where
your physical senses are more or less suspended. However,
that’s a temporal experience.
The other and more important expression of being in
the Spirit is being born into the Spirit, where you become
aware and alive to the spirit-realm through the Word and
the Holy Ghost. You live in that consciousness even though

you’re in this world and your physical senses are conscious of
your natural environment.
In the latter, you’re living with the mindset of the
heavenly being that you are. You see the same things with
other people, but you have a different interpretation and a
different understanding. You’re Spirit-ruled; you see things
the Kingdom way; the Word of God dictates your actions and
responses to life and everything around you. You dominate
your environment with the atmosphere of the Spirit.

LET’S TALK
he Greek word “aion” is what is translated as
“worlds” in the verse above. It refers to the course
of life, an era, or the structure and administration of things
as they are in the world. Every now and then, the devil tries
to turn the course of this world in his direction; he likes to
impose his own system on the world and force us to live in
his system. Thank God, he’s subject to us, so we can’t allow
him to have his way.
Take, for example, a city or a nation that gets new
leaders: Satan often attempts to make such leaders follow
his agenda. Those leaders may never know when they’re
being influenced and caused to lie and deceive their people
and nation. Even when the people find out that they’re
being deceived, they can’t reverse the damage; they can’t
free themselves. The Bible says, “For the eagerly awaiting
creation waits for the revealing of the sons and daughters
of God… that the creation itself also will be set free from
its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of
the children of God. For we know that the whole creation
groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now”
(Romans 8:19-22 NASB).

We’re the ones to deliver the world—all of creation—
from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of
the sons of God. How? It’s with the Word of God (the “rhema”
of God) on our lips. With the Word of God, you can repair,
construct and reconstruct the course of your life and your
world. That’s what the men and women of faith did in Bible
days. Through faith, they framed or repaired their world with
the Word of God. It’s what God expects of us today: we must
frame our era with the Word of God through faith.

LET’S TALK

I f, as a young Christian, you’ve come to a point in


your life where it seems everything is now a drag
and you don’t seem to be making the kind of progress you
desire or that’s expected, there’s a way out! Maybe you’ve
even tried everything you know to do, but there’s still no
commensurate progress; don’t be frustrated. You can have
a complete turnaround today.
First, understand that life is spiritual and except you
operate from the realm of the Spirit, you can’t achieve
meaningful success. We can take charge of our lives and
situations from the realm of the Spirit by praying in the
Spirit. When we pray in tongues, the Spirit Himself gives us
utterance in spiritual vocabulary.
Beyond this utterance in tongues, we have deep sighs
or groanings as in the opening verse: “Now in the same way
the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know what
to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for
us with groanings too deep for words” (Romans 8:26 NASB).
This is a better and higher way to pray.
When you’re faced with serious crises in your life, it
may get to the point where you don’t know or have words

with which to express yourself or deal with the situation. At
that point, you might just want to get on the floor before the
Lord, in absolute dependence on the Holy Spirit, speaking in
other tongues, till He takes over for you in deep sighs and
groanings of the Spirit. Hallelujah!
With these groanings, the Holy Spirit makes intercession
for you and God’s people. You can learn and train yourself in
this by giving more time and attention to praying in tongues,
yielding yourself to God. These are Kingdom secrets given
to us from the Word for us to live victoriously in life. Glory to
God!

LET’S TALK

I n Romans 12:3 KJV, the Bible says, “…God hath dealt


to every man the measure of faith.” We all have faith,
and according to our opening verse, the faith that was given
to us from God’s eternal Word conquers the world! It’s the
faith of the Kingdom. Our hearts easily take in God’s Word
and we can always trust His Word to produce faith in our
hearts, and with our faith, we have victory over the world,
its system, and its fears. Hallelujah!
We’re not victims in this life. In Mark 9:23, Jesus didn’t
say, “Some things (or most) things are possible”; neither did
He say, “All things are possible to God.” Rather, He declared,
“...If you can believe, all things are possible to him who
believes.” That means anything is possible to anyone who
believes; that includes you. So, how are you going to make
all things possible unto you? It’s with your faith! That’s your
instrument. You can use your faith for anything.
When you face challenges, put your faith to work. If
you ever think that your faith isn’t strong enough, all you
have to do is listen to, or study the Word of God. The Word
of God will produce faith; that’s the miracle power of God’s
Word: it stirs faith. That’s the source of faith in the heart of
any man.

n a quiet corner of the café, Sarah and Emma sat
across from each other, sipping their drinks. Sarah,
her eyes clouded with worry and tears, confided, “I’ve been
feeling so overwhelmed and hopeless lately. Everything
seems to be going wrong since my….”
“Hey, Sarah, it’s okay. I understand how you feel,” Emma
said softly, gently placing her hand on Sarah’s. “It’s high time
we focused on God’s Word. Get rid of the thoughts saddening
you; set your mind on His thoughts, not on what’s happening
to or around you.”
One of the ways to live happily every day is to focus
your mind on the Word and think good thoughts about other
people. Never allow anyone bring some negativities into your
life to defile the purity of your heart and the joy of seeing
others with the eyes with which God sees them. Stay with the
good thoughts about everyone. God’s love believes only the
best about others every time.
Some people get in awkward situations for believing all
the wrong and negative things they heard about others and
end up losing good relationships. For example, you probably

know a lot of things about certain people in your congregation,
family or neighbourhood but never dwell on the negatives. The
Bible shows us clearly what we should give our minds to, how
to think and what to think about.
That’s what we read in our opening verse. Don’t dwell
on allegations against people. When you set your thinking on
thoughts that are contrary to those listed in the opening verse,
you become the reflection of such thoughts. But imagine if
your life is the reflection of things that are true, honest, just,
pure, lovely, and of good report. How beautiful your life would
be! Your character is the reflection of your thoughts. The more
positive your thoughts are, the more peaceful and excellent
your life would be.

LET’S TALK

T he expression “the power of the air” in the scripture


above refers to an atmosphere or behaviour
indicative of some quality or trait, like you’d say, “An air of
unbelief.” It could be the atmosphere in a region indicative of
something foul, evil, or dark about that place; it’s the work of
the prince of the power of the air, but you’re to paralyse his
influence.
Churches, people, families, and individuals could be
influenced by “the air” of their city without their knowledge.
The church that was in Corinth, for example, was influenced by
the city of Corinth; likewise, the church at Ephesus. However,
through the teaching of God’s Word, the apostles made the
people understand that only through the Holy Spirit could
they rise above the spirit of their environment and break the
power of darkness over their cities.
The prince of the power of the air brings an air of
poverty into a place and a feeling of inadequacy; he causes
the destruction, hatred, killings, murders, wickedness, and
violence in the world today. He can run families, cities,
kingdoms, and nations, determining a lot of things that

happen in them. But the Bible says, “For through the voice of
the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with
a rod” (Isaiah 30:31 KJV).
The Assyrian is prophetic of the Antichrist spirit. The “voice
of the LORD” is contextualised for us here as the Word of God
spoken by the power of the Holy Spirit. That’s the “rhema” of
God, which is the sword of the Spirit! It discomfits Satan and the
princes of darkness. With the Word on your lips, you destroy
their activities; you paralyse his influence over your nation,
your city, your family, your personal life, and your environment.
Hallelujah!

I sn’t it amazing what we just read in our opening


verse? I would to God that every young Christian
would grasp the profundity of the message; it’ll make
champions out of them. God the Father blessed us with
the Holy Spirit, the One who knows everything and owns
everything. Having Him in you means you’re made for life.
He’s all you need to be everything He has destined you to
be and fulfil your destiny in life and in the Gospel.
The Holy Spirit in you is your assurance of an
extraordinary life of victory, dominion, abundance, and
infinite possibilities. He’s the power and glory of your life.
His joy is to make your life excellent and full of glory and to
perfect everything that concerns you. There’re blessings and
benefits from God for you every day (Psalm 68:19; Matthew
6:11). The Holy Spirit guides you into these blessings and
sees to it that you enjoy them.
Live every day with the consciousness that you’re
indeed the temple of the Holy Spirit. Become more conscious
of Him and of His presence in you. What a blessing! What
glory it is to have the Holy Spirit in our lives today! He’s the

LET’S TALK

“I ’ve been praying for five months now just to get


healed of this ailment, but it keeps getting worse.
I’m feeling really depressed,” Valerie lamented.
“You don’t need to be depressed or stressed about it,”
Carl replied gently. “What you need is to understand what
the Word says about your health and stand firm on those
promises.”
Sadly, I’ve heard many who gripe in the same way, “I’ve
prayed for five years, with intense fasting, and even sown
seeds just to get healed of this ailment!” Life, to them, has
become a spiritual warfare or, as it were, an endless struggle
in prayer just to live in health, pay a meagre house rent, or
even pass their exams.
This problem usually stems from their ignorance of
what rightfully belongs to them in Christ. Psalm 82:6-7 says, ‘I
said, “You are gods, and all of you are children of the Most High.
But you shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.”’ Why
would they die like men? Why would they fall like one of the
princes? It’s because “they know not”; that is, their ignorance!
First, you belong to a great and winning Kingdom,
so square up, chest out and chin up because Jesus already
paid the full price for you to walk in victory and enjoy all
His blessings. How would you talk, walk, or act if you knew

you were superior to sickness, disease, and infirmity? That
understanding would put an end to unnecessary health
struggles, wouldn’t it?
If you found out that you’re the seed of Abraham, an heir
of blessings untold, and have been imbued with a life that’s
incapable of poverty or failure-a life that can’t be defeated or
destroyed-wouldn’t that immediately change the contents of
your prayer? Get to know the Word for yourself; be acquainted
with these truths. Remember, the life of blessings is your
heritage in Christ Jesus. God already blessed you beyond
measure (Ephesians 1:3). Hallelujah!

cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up
serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt
them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

LET’S TALK

T here’re two things I’ll like you to observe in the


opening verse. The first is the fact that the Lord
Jesus gave us authority over demons. What is authority?
Authority is delegated power; it’s the right to command and
be obeyed or the ability to command and enforce obedience.
It’s the right to command something, someone, or anything
and be obeyed! For example, when we use the Name of Jesus
to effect a change or make a command, that’s authority!
Secondly, He also gave us the power of attorney, that
is, the legal right to act on His behalf or in His place as His
agent: the legal right to act in His Name. So, having been
given the power of attorney, how much power do you wield?
How much force can you exercise? And how much authority
do you really have? It depends on how much power is behind
the one that gave it to you.
It doesn’t matter how much power you’ve got; if
someone with a higher authority than the one who authorised
you comes, you have to submit. Matthew 28:18-19 lets us in
on the Master’s authority. It says, “And Jesus came and spoke
to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven

and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit.” Notice He doesn’t say some power but ALL
power; also observe that He didn’t say that all power is given
unto Him to exercise in only some places; no! He said in heaven
and in earth.
The Lord Jesus has supreme and unrivalled authority.
Hallelujah! When you issue commands to Satan, his demons,
and the elements of this world in His Name, they’ll hear and
obey you because you function in Christ’s supreme authority
and dominion.

Dear Father, thank you for giving me the ability to command and
enforce obedience and the power of attorney to use the Name
of Jesus to effect changes and control circumstances. That Name

LET’S TALK

“Y ou seem pretty relaxed for someone about


to face the school board for preaching in the
classroom. Shouldn’t you be at least a little nervous?” Patrick
inquired from Julius, who has a joyful look on his face.
“Nope, I’m never frantic because I’m confident of only
one outcome: victory,” Julius replied.
In Christ, we don’t pray for victory; victory is our
heritage, our very life! We were born to be triumphant
always and everywhere. This is what the Word declares, and
it is unchangeable. Let your spirit embrace this truth, and
live by it.
This doesn’t mean you won’t face challenges, but
it does mean you’ll always emerge victorious, regardless
of the obstacles. No matter what happens, where you
find yourself, or who opposes you, you are more than a
conqueror. You can never be disadvantaged. God has
equipped you with everything needed to live victoriously
every day: the Holy Spirit, His Word, and the Name of Jesus.
Additionally, He gave you the power to speak, to use
words. By your words, you can chart your course of endless

victory and success, making your life a perpetual triumphant
victory parade! Whatever you declare will surely come to
pass. Therefore, in the face of adversity, declare God’s Word.
Frequently affirm that good things are coming your way and
happening around you, for the earth is full of the goodness
of the Lord. Use your words to stay on the victory path,
transform circumstances, and align situations with God’s
perfect will for you.

LET’S TALK

T here are three important questions in life: “What?”


“How?” and “Why?” To know “what” is to begin to
live; to know “how” is to begin to succeed; and to know “why”
is to begin to reign because that’s when you’re fulfilling your
purpose. Whether you’re asking these questions about your
personal life, growth, academics, finances, family, or ministry,
these three questions will guide you. However, the most
important of them is “Why?” It’s the age-old question that
humanity has grappled with through generations.
Why were you born? Why are you here on this earth at
this time? Why do you do what you do? Your “Why” is your
purpose, your reason for being. Purpose is the reason for
which something is done or created or for which something
exists. It refers to intent, design, and the reason for a cause or
action; it also alludes to the relevance or usefulness of a thing.
So, have you discovered your purpose? Do you know
why you’re in this world? What are the intents, designs, or
reasons for your actions and the things you do? Why were
you recreated in Christ? The Word of God gives clear answers
and insights into your purpose on earth.

For example, 1 Peter 2:9 AMPC says, “But you are a
chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own
purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful
deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called
you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” You were created
to bring God glory—to show forth His praise, to set forth His
wonderful deeds, and to display His virtues and perfections on
earth. Thus, your life should be about living for Him, pleasing
Him, and fulfilling the purpose for which you were born again.

“AUTHORITY”
“I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions
and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm
you” (Luke 10:19 NIV).

Authority from the Greek word “Exousia” is the power or right


to give orders or make decisions. It’s the influence, weight, or
endorsement to command thought, opinion, or behaviour.
It’s official permission or approval to do something or cause
someone else to do something.

Authority is often used interchangeably with “power.”


However, their meanings differ. While power, for instance,
could be described as the ability to influence somebody to do
something against personal wish, authority refers to a claim
of legitimacy, the justification and right to exercise that power;
it’s delegated power. Authority can either be a personality or
an institution, but it’s meant to be obeyed either way.

Essentially, authority is imposed by superior hierarchy either


by force of arms or by force of argument. Bringing this to
bear on our study on 19 August titled: “His Name Is Supreme,”
the Christian has the right or power, warrant, grounds and
convincing force to command and cast out Satan and his
demons, and they’ve got no option but to comply. This is one
of the major revelations of the new creation; he’s an authority
and at the same time has authority—influence and power—
to execute judgment on Satan and the cohorts of hell.

LET’S TALK

T here is the education of the human mind, but there’s


also the education of the human spirit. In these last
days, through the ministry of the Word and the Spirit, we are
raising God’s people to become effective witnesses for Jesus
Christ. The Body of Christ is growing, and we thank God for
making it possible for more people to hear the Word and be
nurtured.
It’s like watching newborn babies grow up; parents feel
excited as they see their children go through various stages
of development. At a certain stage, parents need to provide
instructions, guidance, supervision, and direction. They ensure
their babies are well-fed, receiving proper care, and living in a
healthy environment. Eventually, through observation, the
babies start to talk and act like their parents. This way, they’re
being raised; the things you do influence them, and they
become more like you.
The same principle applies spiritually. The Apostle Paul
told the Corinthian Church in his letter, “Pattern yourselves
after me [follow my example], as I imitate and follow Christ (the
Messiah)” (1 Corinthians 11:1 AMPC). As the Lord fellowships
with us, teaching and feeding us, we become more like Him,
acting, talking, and relating to others as He would. The Bible

says, “…From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures,
which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith
which is in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:15).
Open your heart to be raised by the Word. Receive
with meekness the love, hope, faith, power, prosperity, truth,
strength, and soundness of mind and body that the Word
brings to you. Embrace the Word, which is able to make you
wise unto salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah!

LET’S TALK

R eading the four gospels might not give you the full
picture of what it means to live as a Christian or
who a Christian really is. This is because the gospels don’t
cover much about Jesus’ life after His resurrection. That’s why
Jesus told His disciples about the Holy Spirit—the Spirit of
truth—who would show them what’s to come and guide
them into all truth (John 16:12-13). So, to really understand the
Christian life, the best place to look in the New Testament is
the epistles.
“What about the Book of Acts?” you might ask. While
it’s valuable, it mainly documents the acts of the early, baby
Church. It’s a good starting point but not the best guide for
understanding the mature Christian life. For deeper insights
into the life of God’s new creation in Christ, you should study
the Epistles. For example, Paul’s letter to the Romans is an
extraordinary explanation of Christ’s supremacy and faith in
Him as the source of salvation. His letter to the Ephesians
details how new converts can grow in their spiritual knowledge
of God and the realities of the Kingdom.
Consider Peter’s writings. In 2 Peter 1:4 ESV, he says,
“By which he has granted to us his precious and very great
promises, so that through them you may become partakers of

the divine nature….” This describes who Christians are: partakers
of God’s divine nature, associates of the God-kind, carriers of
the God-life. What a glorious reality!
Moreover, the prophetic words about the millennial reign
of Christ reveal that everything the Lord promised to the Jews
for that future time, He has already given the Church to enjoy
today. To truly understand the Christian life and identity, you
need the insights from the Book of Acts, the revelations and
teachings in the epistles, and the promises given to the Jews for
the Millennium. Hallelujah!

LET’S TALK

O ur opening verse leaves no doubt about who


Jesus is: He is God made visible in human
flesh, justified and vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels,
preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and
taken up in glory! Hallelujah!
It reminds me of the hurried trial of Jesus in Mark
14:60-63. The high priests conspired with the Jewish Council
to find evidence against Jesus to sentence Him to death,
but they couldn’t find any. Then they asked Jesus, “Are You
the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” His response was clear
and bold: “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at
the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of
heaven.” For this, they condemned Him to death because
He declared Himself to be God in human flesh, but that’s
who He is! To say “Jesus is the Son of God” means He’s God
in human flesh!
God came to us in a human body. That’s why He was
crucified. No wonder Paul said the fullness of the Godhead—
that is, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, the totality of
Deity—is tabernacled in Jesus (Colossians 1:19).

When you stand before the throne of God, you won’t
see a blinding light as the Father and Jesus standing beside
Him nor will you see the Holy Spirit like a bird on top of the
throne. No! Jesus is on the throne, and the Father is in Him.
He is the complete embodiment of Deity. Hallelujah!

LET’S TALK

S ome time ago, the report went viral of a 32-year-old


nurse who was accused of murdering seven new-
born babies, including two brothers from a set of triplets. She
carried out this despicable act over the course of a year in the
neonatal unit of a certain hospital.
The Police had recovered apparent confession notes
from her home after her arrest in which she had penned
some of her heinous thoughts. On one of the notes, she had
written in capital letters: “I AM EVIL. I DID THIS.” What would
make a lady carry out such a diabolic act and confess herself
as evil? Those suggestions were given to her by demons.
There’re so many evil things that demons make people
do, which the people in their natural minds would never do.
But demons practise on people for some time by suggesting
things to them. Those bad thoughts come to their minds
again and again until they start enjoying them. They may be
thoughts of suicide, thoughts of hatred, or depression.
Such thoughts can come to someone for no reason,
and when he or she dwells on them, the demons go to the
next level of making them act their thoughts. In the world
today, a lot of young people would say, “I am depressed,”
because it’s seen as a normal thing when it’s not!

This is why Ephesians 4:27 says, “Neither give place to the
devil.” You give place to him by giving place to his thoughts and
words. Don’t entertain his thoughts. When He comes with those
negative, depressing thoughts—thoughts that are contrary to
God’s Word—tell him off immediately. Respond with the Word,
and he’ll flee.
If he tries to run rampage around you, remember what
Jesus said would be a sign for those who believe in Him; He said,
“...In my name shall they cast out devils…” (Mark 16:17). So, cast
him out; cast out his thoughts. So many things that happen in
our world are influenced by demons. That’s because the world’s
system was created by Satan. And only men and women of faith
in the Word of God can use the Word of God to change things.

Satan has nothing in me! I refuse to harbour fear, anger, grudges,

LET’S TALK
od loves you more than you love yourself. He
knows what’s best for you and always wants the
best for you. Therefore, you can trust Him with your life. In
Isaiah 1:19, He says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall
eat the good of the land.” The Living Bible puts it even more
compellingly: “If you will only let me help you, if you will only
obey, then I will make you rich!”
Thank God we’re His obedient children! You can trust
Him to make you rich and make your life glorious. Your
responsibility is to submit to His will by living according to
His Word. Those who are ignorant of God’s Word and His
love struggle and try to control their own lives. They haven’t
fully yielded to His Word, His will, and His purpose.
When you know Him, you’re at rest. You discover
that He’s more passionate about your success than you
could ever be. This discovery changed my life years ago.
It made me submit to His choices and follow His Word
wholeheartedly.
Accept His love. Colossians 1:13 (AMPC) says He’s
transferred us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love. Have
confidence in His love. Dare to believe Him, and submit to
the unique path He’s chosen for you. In His Word, He has

laid out the blueprint for your life: how you should live. Follow
His Word, for that’s how you submit to His will. His Word is
His will expressed.

LET’S TALK

“P astor, we’ve been praying non-stop for the


nations of the world; when does it end?” Chloe
asked her youth church pastor, who had once again called for
intercessory prayers for the nations.
“Chloe, remember we’ve been given the responsibility
of enforcing God’s will on earth, and we’re the only ones to do
so,” he replied. “That’s why we pray for the nations relentlessly;
we have the power to make a difference. So, let’s pray!”
Immediately after the Lord Jesus made the extraordinary
statement in our opening verse, He charged us to go into
every man’s world on account of ALL power that’s been given
unto Him and preach the Gospel to every creature. We’re not
just here; we’re the extension of His Kingdom, bringing His
rule and reign to the earth. That’s why He nudges us to pray.
In Luke 18:1 KJV, He puts it straight: “Men ought always to pray
and not give up.” He wants us to be relentless, persistent prayer
warriors, shaping our world and impacting lives everywhere.
Guess what? He’s handed us the responsibility and
the authority to transform our world. He knew we’d face
challenges, so He gave us dominion over evil forces. Armed
with the mighty Name of Jesus and the Word of God, we’ve

got the power to tackle any demonic force. When you observe,
for example, that things are going awry in your nation or city,
get to praying fervently in the Spirit.
Rebuke Satan and his cohorts of darkness responsible for
deception, hardships, and wickedness, and reassign angels to
take charge where they had held sway. Pray often like this to
hinder the works of darkness in your nation and around the
world.

Dear Father, thank you for the authority in the Name of Jesus
to enforce your will in the earth and in the lives of men. Your
Name is glorified in all the earth, and your Kingdom is exalted.

TO THE BIBLE Colossians 3:9-10
“Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man
with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in
knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”

LET’S TALK

“H ey, Lorraine, what does the phrase ‘being born


again’ in 1 Peter 1:23 mean?” Elsa asked her Care
Group leader. “Does it mean he or she just repented?”
“Not at all, Elsa,” Lorraine replied. “Being born again isn’t
just about repentance or saying ‘sorry’ to God and having
Him forgive you. It’s much more than that. It’s about receiving
a new life and nature from the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Being born again goes beyond repentance; when you
were born into this world, you came with the human life from
your parents. This was the life you lived until you were born
again and received another life: the life and nature of God.
Does this, therefore, imply that you have two lives in you: a
human life as well as the divine one? Absolutely not!
As a Christian, you only have one life, and it’s the God-
life. The human life ceased to be because it was replaced by
this life and nature of God. You didn’t receive an additional life;
it was a supplanting of the old with the new. Hallelujah! The
Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all
things have become new.” The use of the word “creation” lets
us know that what’s being described is something new and

strange to the world because it has never seen it before. It’s like
what the Bible says in 1 John 3:1, “Behold what manner of love
the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children
of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not
know Him.” Now that we’re the sons of God, the world doesn’t
recognise us because we’re changed.
We’re no longer subject to sickness, disease, failure, or
death. We’re new creations, born with the life and nature of God
that transcends the ordinary human life. This is the message of
Christ. This is why He came: “But as many as received Him, to
them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who
believe in His name” (John 1:12). Hallelujah!

I declare that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life, and His life
and nature that transcends the ordinary human life has
been imparted to my spirit. My old life has been completely

the day of Christ.”

LET’S TALK
hen Jesus came to this earth, it wasn’t His day.
In Luke 22:53, on the verge of His crucifixion,
He said to the soldiers, “...This is your hour, and the power of
darkness.” So, He allowed Himself to be arrested. When He
ministered, He didn’t go beyond the city of Jerusalem (Luke
24:49). That wasn’t His day.
The Day of Christ is when He returns to judge the
nations and begin His one-thousand-year reign upon the
earth. (Read Philippians 2:16 and 2 Thessalonians 2:2).
The Bible says, “In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel
will dwell safely; now this is His name by which He will be
called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jeremiah 23:6).
All those things will happen in His days for one thousand
years! That’s at the Millennium.
However, this is the day of the Church! Glory to God!
Realise this and take advantage of it. This is the day in which
we must use all that He’s given us for His glory. You’ve
got to have the manifestation of power in your life! The
Kingdom of God isn’t in words only, but in power also (1
Corinthians 4:20).

The tremendous miracles, signs, and wonders
performed by Jesus and the apostles were chronicled in the
Bible to inspire us and to let us know we can do the same
in our day through the power of the same Spirit. Use what
you’ve got. Praise God!

I shall not be put to shame.”

LET’S TALK
ur Lord Jesus had a crystal-clear purpose for
coming into the world, and He expressed it with
unwavering clarity. He declared in John 10:10, “…I have come
that they may have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly.” In 1 John 3:8, it says, “...For this purpose the Son
of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the
devil.” Furthermore, in Luke 19:10, Jesus declared, “...The Son
of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” His
purpose was unmistakable: to fulfill the will of His Father. He
emphasised, “...My nourishment comes from doing the will of
God who sent me, and from finishing his work” (John 4:34 TLB).
We see from His words a very powerful principle of life
revealed: the pursuit and fulfilment of your divine purpose is
the true “food and drink” of life; it’s the fuel that keeps your
engine running while you’re on the face of this earth. Your
purpose defines your life, giving you focus and direction. A
synonym for purpose is “intent” or “design.” Intent or design
is never general; it must be clear, definite, and specific for it to
be realistic and effective.
We also see purpose expressed in Paul’s narrative of his
encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus (Acts 26:13–

16). He appeared to Paul to make him a minister and a witness
(Acts 26:16). He further reveals to Paul that he was “to open their
eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the
power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins
and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in
Me” (Acts 26:18).
This was Paul’s reason for being; this was his life’s mission,
and he said in verse 19, “…I was not disobedient to the heavenly
vision.” Then in 1 Corinthians 9:26 AMPC, he said, “Therefore I do
not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one
beating the air and striking without an adversary.” In other words,
I’m focused on my mission; I’m definitive about carrying out
God’s plan for my life. That’s how it ought to be. Be focused on
your assignment and on your God-given purpose. Glory to God!

‘Then he withdrew from them a short distance to be alone. Kneeling
down, he prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup of agony
away from me. But no matter what, your will must be mine.”’

LET’S TALK

“W hat do I do? I’m in so much trouble, and no


one wants to help me,” Sylvester wailed.
Sensing his friend’s distress, Brian intervened, ‘Hey
Bro, what’s troubling you?’ He inquired gently with concern
in his voice. “Do you want to pray about it?”
Grateful for the offer, Sylvester nodded eagerly. ‘Yes,
Brian, please,’ he implored, his voice tinged with desperation.
‘I’ll take any help I can get.’ So, falling on their knees before
God, they prayed a simple prayer of agreement, and in a
few hours, the matter which bothered Sylvester was turned
around for his good. That’s the power of prayer!
This is like what Apostle Paul said in Ephesians 3:14–15:
“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is
named.” Learn to bow your knees in prayer. Sometimes
people go through tough times and severe persecution.
The way to deal with such situations is to be on your knees
in prayer. In Luke 18:1–8, the Lord Jesus emphasised the
importance of persistence in prayer. This is because, being
the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, you can change
anything through prayer.

When Satan stirs persecution against us, take it to the
Lord in prayer. Never allow any crisis or situation to take your
attention so that you begin to mull it over, feeling helpless.
One minute with the Holy Ghost will make a far greater impact
than five hours of melancholy and sad cogitations. So, pray in,
and with, the spirit. “Is anyone among you suffering? Let him
pray…” (James 5:13). Ephesians 6:18 says, “Praying always with
all prayer and supplication in the Spirit….”
It doesn’t matter the persecution or how unsavoury the
economy of your nation is; keep praying. Keep watering the
clouds with prayer, and soon enough, the condensation will take
place with a flood of answers pouring down (Ecclesiastes 11:3).

The Lord reigns and rules in the affairs of men. The Lord is strong
and mighty, the God of all flesh, and there’s nothing too difficult for
Him. He’s the God of possibilities, and He’s given me the power of
attorney to use the Name of Jesus to effect the changes I desire.
Therefore, I live an ever-winning life, with dominion over Satan
and his cohorts, spreading the Gospel of Christ in my world and
beyond, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
