    ‘ai’ Spelling Find and Sink Game

    You will need: My Words Put the following


    • My Words Grid and Enemy Words 1 ships on your
    Grid (one of each per person) 2 d r a i n a defensive grid
    3 f by marking the
    • Pencil 4 r appropriate letters
    5 a horizontally or
    Instructions: i
    6 vertically.
    Play this game in pairs. Each player marks their My 7 p a i n d
    Words Grid with four ‘ai’ words. Two 4 letter ‘ai’ words, 8 Battleship (6 squares)
    a five letter ‘ai’ word and a six letter ‘ai’ word. The first 9 n a i l a f r a i d
    player calls out a grid position using the letters and 10
    Ship (5 squares)
    A B C D E F G H I J
    numbers, like “B5”. The other player either says “Hit” d r a i n
    or “Miss,” depending whether their word is there. Mark Enemy Words
    Rowboat (4 squares)
    the square on your Enemy Words Grid with ‘H’ for hit 1

    or ‘M’ for miss. Only have one shot at a time. Once you n a i l

    have hit all of the letters in your partner’s word, they 4 H
    will read it to you and you must spell it. If you spell it 5
    correctly, the ship sinks. If you spell it incorrectly, your 6 H = hit
    partner gets to write the word back into their grid in 7 M M= miss

    Keep playing until all of one person’s words have sunk. 10
