Front-End Engineering Work Experience

Senior Frontend Engineer, Datature, Singapore, Aug 2022 - Present. profile
- As the first full-time front-end hire, I inherited the codebase from the CEO and from then on forward, led all front-end
technical decisions, making trade-offs among approaches. All PRs have to be approved by either me or if I’m not around,
the CEO/CTO; I participate in the hiring of junior developers/interns and help them ship production-ready features.
- I’ve developed a systematic approach to PR reviews (Requesting for Comments!) that aim to reduce regressions / bugs
reaching prod by 3x, and increase the team’s productivity by reducing back-and-forth time spent on PR reviews by 5x.
- I’m responsible for designing enterprise-level features from the ground up, to secure sales and customers for Series A
funding. Requested features such as Workflow Automation Tool, Keypoint Annotator, and Comment Tool helped secure
multi-year contracts with various companies. Some of the most challenging features I’ve implemented involved AI-Assisted
labeling like Video Tracking / Interpolation, and Intellibrush (to use Meta’s Segment Anything Model) , as well as our
training workflow tool which involved recursive components to dynamically generate forms depending on the type of
model selected. Here’s a short video of some of the features I was involved in 2023.
Frontend Engineer, Luxor, Philippines/Remote (Seattle), Nov 2021 - June 2022. profile
- Designed reusable data visualization components (built on top of AirBnb’s visx library) for our internal UI library, and wrote
a design philosophy document (I have permission to post this publicly!) to help others do the same
- Took the initiative to improve core web vitals of our apps. Most notably, by decreasing reliance on bloated libraries and
replaced framer-motion animations with pure CSS, I reduced hashrateindex.com and luxor.tech’s bundle sizes by 30 - 50%
which in turn increased the above’s PageSpeed Insights and Google Lighthouse performance scores by 25-40%
- Responsibilities include: translating Figma decks into pixel-perfect responsive UIs; pair programming sessions with other
FE devs, writing REST, Graphql (PostgreSQL functions + Postgraphile) API endpoints, writing unit, integration, e2e tests.
Senior Software Engineer (Frontend), Aeronology, Philippines/Remote (Australia), Mar 2021 - Nov 2021. profile
- The main goal of features I built was to increase travel agents' productivity by 3-5x. Most notably, I led the building of our
TravelCheck productivity tool for personalized travel compliance, to save each travel advisor between 8 - 20 hrs / month.
- Led the rewrite of our airplane seat map selection tool; I utilized various optimization techniques like code splitting / lazy
loading, memoization, action context separation, to remove lagging and screen freezes of the previous implementation
- Implemented and optimized large element lists (flights available) using virtualization, pagination, and infinite scroll
- Aside from the usual features, bug fixes, troubleshooting browser compatibility issues, and code reviews, I take the
initiative to reduce technical debt by breaking down God components to smaller, loosely-coupled ones.
Open-source developer / Independent consultant (Frontend), Philippines/Remote, 2019 - 2020
- Developed various user-friendly feature-rich applications for various small businesses, NGOs, and other clients
- In 2020, I was one of the top 10 most active Github users in the Philippines according to committers.top. (snapshot)

Other Work Experience

Creative Technologist, Dentsu Jayme Syfu, Philippines, 2016 - 2017
