1.1 EJ-210 Installation Check

Before performing the start-up operation of the boiler operation terminal EJ-210, perform the
following checks according to the Installation Manual of the EJ-210 and M-NET3 Communication
System.

(1) Main unit installation check

Ensure that the main unit is securely fixed at an appropriate location.
For details, refer to “5. INSTALLATION” in the Installation Manual of the EJ-210.

(2) Steam pressure sensor installation check

When installing the optional steam pressure sensor, ensure that it is installed correctly.
For details, refer to “6. WIRING” in the Installation Manual of the EJ-210.

(3) Wiring check

With reference to “6. WIRING” in the Installation Manual of the EJ-210, ensure that the
following wires are connected properly.
• Power supply wire and signal wire
Note that the wiring inside the boiler control box must be added or removed in some cases.
• RS-422 communication wire
Wiring is required only when the BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller is mounted
in the boiler to be connected.
• M-NET3 communication wire
Depending on the connection status of communication wires, a communication error may
occur. Ensure that the communication wire is connected according to the Installation Manual
of the M-NET3 communication system.
• Steam pressure sensor wire
Wiring is required only when the optional pressure sensor for the EJ-210 is installed.

(4) Boiler ROM version check

When the BK-type controller is mounted in the boiler to be connected, ensure that the ROM
version is “BK111400” or later for a gas-fired boiler, and “BK211400” or later for an oil-fired
boiler.
When the BL-type controller is mounted in the boiler to be connected, ensure that the ROM
version is “BL111400” or later.
When the BG-type or XJ1-type controller is mounted in the boiler to be connected, it is not

3.3.1 Settings in the Maintenance Operation Mode

Make maintenance settings with regard to MI control.
Make the settings described below.

(1) BP MI control switching for maintenance

Set this item to “Auto” if MI control operation is to be performed by the boiler system operation
panel BP-201.
Set this item to “Manual” if combustion control is to be performed based on the pressure setting
value set in the boiler or the EJ-210. Combustion control is performed in the boiler alone,
separately from MI control.

Note: When this item is set to “Manual”, “M ” flashes in the second digit from the right in the
upper row of the display in the Status Monitor mode.

(2) Maintenance display

Normally, set this item to “No”.
If this item is set to “Yes”, “M ” flashes in the second digit from the right in the upper row of
the display, and the display contents change as described below.
 Status Monitor mode (refer to “2.2.1Status Monitor Mode”)
• “Input status” (refer to No. 6 in Table 2-3), “Output status” (refer to No. 7 in Table 2-3),
“Number of errors in communication with boiler system operation panel” (refer to No. 8 in
Table 2-3), and “Number of errors in communication with boiler” (refer to No. 9 in Table
2-3) are displayed.
• When the “Display unit” is set to “SI(MPa)” or “SI(0.1 MPa)”, the number of display digits of
the boiler steam pressure value (refer to No. 2 in Table 2-3) increases by one digit. (This is
used when checking the sensor zero adjustment value and in other situations.)
Example) 0.01MPa → 0.010 MPa, 0.1 × 0.1 MPa → 0.10 × 0.1 MPa

 Current Alarm Check mode (refer to “2.2.3Current Alarm Check Mode”)

• Even alarms that are not disclosed to the user are displayed.
• The event information can be checked.

19
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL

 Alarm History mode (refer to “2.2.4Alarm History Mode”)

• Even alarms that are not disclosed to the user are displayed.
• The event information can be checked.

Note: Information that is not disclosed to the user is displayed when this item is set to “Yes”.
Therefore, after maintenance has ended, be sure to set this item to “No”, and ensure that
flashing of “M ” in the second digit from the right in the upper row of the display is
cleared.
However, if “MI control” is set to “No” in the Maintenance Setting mode, the flashing
“M ” does not appear. (Refer to “(1) MI control” in “3.3.2Settings in the Maintenance
Setting Mode”.)

(3) Change date

Set the date when the setting value of the equipment was changed.
This is used as history information of the setting change period.

(4) Total combustion time

Set the total combustion time for determining the priority order in MI control.
During a normal start-up operation, it is not necessary to change the setting from the default
value “0 Hr”. Change the setting when the boiler operating time must be adjusted due to
upgrade of the program version, replacement of the circuit board, or installation of additional
boilers.
Note that when “Boiler combustion control” is set to “3-Position”, the total combustion time is
the total high fire converted time.

(5) Switching to Maintenance Setting mode

This item is used to switch to the Maintenance Setting mode
To make settings in the Maintenance Setting mode, press and hold the “Data” button for 2
seconds while “MAINTSETMode / Press&Hold[DATA]” is displayed to switch to the
Maintenance Setting mode (refer to “3.3.2Settings in the Maintenance Setting Mode”).

(6) Program version

The version of the program is displayed.
When upgrading the version of the program, check the version here.

20
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL
3.3.2 Settings in the Maintenance Setting Mode
Make settings with regard to specifications of connected boilers and the MI control function.

3.3.2.1 Settings in the Automatic Setting Mode

(1) For a boiler with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller mounted
For the boiler controllers described above, some setting items can be set in the Automatic
Setting mode. Make automatic settings according to “2.2.6.1Automatic Setting Mode”.
If the result of automatic setting is “OK”, make manual settings subsequently according to
“3.3.2.2Settings in the Manual Setting Mode” for the setting items that could not be set in the
Automatic Setting mode.
If the result of automatic setting is “NG”, check the communication status between the
EJ-210 and the boiler (refer to “4.1Checking the Communication between the EJ-210 and
the Boiler”).

(2) For a boiler other than the above

Setting using the Automatic Setting mode is not available. Make manual settings according
to “3.3.2.2Settings in the Manual Setting Mode”.

3.3.2.2 Settings in the Manual Setting Mode

As for the boiler setting items described in “2.2.6.2Manual Setting Mode”, make settings for the
setting items that could not be set in the Automatic Setting mode (setting items with other than
“” and “—“ in Table 2-10) in the case of a boiler with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type
controller mounted, and for all setting items in the case of a boiler with other controllers mounted.

(1) MI control
Set this item to “Yes” if MI control operation is to be performed by the boiler system
operation panel BP-201.
Set this item to “No” if combustion control is to be performed based on the pressure setting

(3) Boiler priority combustion position

Currently, this item is not used in control. Therefore, it is not necessary to set this item.

(4) Boiler steam output

During MI control, control is performed in consideration of the boiler steam output.
Set the equivalent output of the boiler to which the EJ-210 is to be connected.
In the case of a boiler with a BG-type or XJ1-type controller mounted, the steam output set
in the boiler is set in the Automatic Setting mode. Therefore, it is not necessary to set this
item manually.

(5) Turndown ratio

During MI control, control is performed in consideration of the turndown ratio.
If “Boiler combustion control” is set to“3-Position”, set the turndown ratio of the boiler.
(If the combustion rate during low fire operation is 500 and the combustion rate during high
fire operation is 1500, the set this item to “1:3”.)
If “Boiler combustion control” is set to “ON/OFF”, this item is disabled, and therefore, setting
change is not necessary.
In the case of a boiler with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller mounted, the
turndown ratio is calculated from the boiler setting information in the Automatic Setting mode,
and the calculated value is set. Therefore, it is not necessary to set this item manually.

(6) Boiler maximum operating pressure

The upper limit of each pressure setting is restricted.
Set the pressure value according to the boiler specifications.

(7) Blowdown notification

A blowdown timing is notified when the total high fire converted time (the total combustion
time when “Boiler combustion control” is set to “ON/OFF”) exceeds the blowdown
notification time.
If the blowdown notification function and the function for priority combustion after a
blowdown are required, set this item to “Yes”.
In a boiler with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, and XJ1-type controller mounted, notification is
performed by the boiler, and therefore, basically set this item to “No”.

(8) Soot blow notification

A soot blow timing is notified when the total high fire converted time (the total combustion
time when “Boiler combustion control” is set to “ON/OFF”) exceeds the Soot blow
notification time.
If the soot blow notification function is required, set this item to “Yes”.
In a boiler with a BG-type and BK-type controller mounted, notification is performed by the
boiler, and therefore, basically set this item to “No”.

22
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL
(9) Priority combustion time after blowdown
This is the time period when priority combustion is performed to accelerate boiler water
concentration after a blowdown. Priority combustion is performed until the total high fire
converted time (the total combustion time when “Boiler combustion control” is set to
“ON/OFF”) from the time when a blowdown is performed reaches this setting value.
Set the time period during which priority combustion must be performed after a blowdown.
The setting value is disabled when “Blowdown notification” is set to “No” in a boiler other
than the boilers with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, and XJ1-type controller mounted.

Note that in the EJ-210, priority combustion is performed by judging that a blowdown has
been performed under the following conditions.
Table 3-2: Blowdown implementation judgment conditions
Blowdown implementation judgment condition
Boiler controller
(OR condition)
Boiler with a BG-type or The “BLOWDOWN” lamp on the boiler display turns OFF.

XJ1-type controller mounted seconds.
(With a high concentration (This is a special operation and proper care must be
blowdown valve) taken when explaining to the customer.)
Boiler with a BK-type or BL-type The F800-01 alarm (blowdown setting time exceeded)
controller mounted judged at the boiler side is reset.
The “Blow” button is pressed when blowdown timing has
been judged in the EJ-210 (“B” is displayed at the
Boiler other than the above
rightmost digit in the upper row of the display when
blowdown timing is judged.)

(10) Blowdown volume

This item is used when performing chemical-feed control in the water treatment control unit
for boiler WP2.
In the case of a boiler with a BG-type or BL-type controller mounted, the blowdown volume
set in the boiler is set in the Automatic Setting mode. Therefore, it is not necessary to set
this item manually.
In the case of a boiler with a BK-type or XJ1-type controller mounted, the blowdown volume
cannot be set on the boiler side. Therefore, set the appropriate value in accordance with the
boiler specifications.
In the case of a boiler other than the boilers with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type
controller mounted, the setting value is disabled. Therefore, it is not necessary to set this
item.

(11) Pressure sensor

This item is for setting existence of installation of the optional pressure sensor for the
EJ-210.
By installing the pressure sensor on the boiler, the control performed to improve the
load-following capability using the pressure information of the boiler is enabled.
Set this item to “No” for a boiler with a BG-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller mounted.
(As the EJ-210 acquires the pressure information of the boiler through communication with
the boiler, it is not necessary to install a separate pressure sensor.)
In a boiler other than the boilers with a BG-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller mounted, if
the optional pressure sensor for the EJ-210 is connected to acquire the pressure information,
set this item to “Yes”.
23
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL
(12) Pressure sensor full scale
This item is for setting the full scale value when the optional pressure sensor for the EJ-210
is connected.
Set the full scale value of the pressure sensor to be connected to the EJ-210 according to
the table shown below.
Table 3-3: Pressure sensor full scale setting list
Pressure sensor full

scale setting value
0.98-MPa sensor YSK-AC10M-333 0.98 MPa
1.96-MPa sensor YSK-AC20M-334 1.96 MPa
2.94-MPa sensor YSK-AC30M-333 2.94 MPa
Note: If “Pressure sensor” is set to “No”, this setting value is disabled, and therefore, it is not
necessary to set it.

(13) Pressure sensor offset

This item is for setting the offset when the optional pressure sensor for the EJ-210 is
connected.
If “Pressure sensor” is set to “Yes”, change the offset in the range of -0.03 to +0.03 MPa
(-4.4 to +4.4 PSI), if necessary. (When changing the offset, be sure to cross-check the
pressure value on a reliable pressure gauge.)
If “Pressure sensor” is set to “No”, this setting value is disabled, and therefore, it is not
necessary to set it.

(14) Date format

This item is for setting the display format when the current time and alarm occurrence date,
etc. are displayed on the display.
Select the format from “YY/MM/DD”, “MM/DD/YY”, or “DD/MM/YY”.
Note 1: In the case of a boiler with a BG-type or BK-type controller mounted, this item is set
to “YY/MM/DD” in the Automatic Setting mode.
Note 2: In the case of a boiler with a BL-model or XJ1-model controller mounted, this item
is set to “MM/DD/YY” in the Automatic Setting mode.

(15) Display unit

This item is for setting the unit of various types of information displayed on the display.
In this item, either the SI unit or the U.S. unit can be selected. If the SI unit is selected, either
“MPa” or “×0.1 MPa” can be selected as the pressure display unit.
When displaying in the SI unit, basically, set this item to “SI(MPa)”. Set this item to “SI(0.1
MPa)” only when the unit must be converted to match the display unit with the connected
boiler.
When displaying in the U.S. unit, set this item to “U.S.”.
Note 1: In the case of a boiler with a BG-type or BK-type controller mounted, this item is set
to “SI(MPa)” in the Automatic Setting mode.
Note 2: In the case of a boiler with a BL-model or XJ1-model controller mounted, this item
is set to “U.S.” in the Automatic Setting mode.

3.3.3 Settings in the User Operation Mode
Make settings for items which can be set by the customer
Make the settings described below.

(1) Pressure setting

This item is used for pressure control, when “Manual” operation is performed in the EJ-210.
In a boiler with a BG-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller mounted, or a boiler in which
“Pressure sensor” is set to “Yes” in the EJ-210, make the setting according to the usage
conditions of the customer.
In a boiler other than the above, it is not necessary to set this item.
Also, in the case of a boiler in which “Boiler combustion control” is set to “ON/OFF” and
“Pressure sensor” is set to “Yes”, set the same value for low setting and high setting.

(2) Calendar
In the case of a boiler with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, and XJ1-type controller mounted,
the current time of the boiler is set automatically through communication, and therefore, it is
not necessary to set the time in the EJ-210.
Check that the time matches the current time of the boiler.
In a boiler other than the above, set the year, month, day, hour, and minute of the current
time.
Note: If a date that does not exist in calendar settings is set, the display switches to the
calendar settings (year) even when the “Data” button is pressed and held for 2
seconds, and the display does not switch from the User Operation mode to the Status
Monitor mode as usual. Set the correct current time (year, month, day, hour, and
minute).

(3) Blowdown notification time

In a boiler with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, and XJ1-type controller mounted, blowdown
timing judgment is performed on the boiler side, and therefore, it is not necessary to set this
item.
In a boiler other than the above, set the total combustion time for performing blowdown
timing judgment and notification.
A blowdown timing is judged when the total high fire converted time (the total combustion
time when “Boiler combustion control” is set to “ON/OFF”) exceeds the blowdown
notification time.
If this item is set to “0 Hr”, blowdown timing judgment and notification are not performed.

(4) Soot blow notification time

In a boiler with a BG-type or BK-type controller mounted, soot blow timing judgment is
performed on the boiler side, and therefore, it is not necessary to set this item.
In a boiler other than the above, set the total combustion time for performing soot blow
timing judgment and notification.
A soot blow timing is judged when the total high fire converted time (the total combustion
time when “Boiler combustion control” is set to “ON/OFF”) exceeds the soot blow notification
time.
If this item is set to “0 Hr”, soot blow timing judgment and notification are not performed.

MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL
3.4 Boiler Pressure Settings
When performing MI control of a boiler, make pressure settings for the boiler itself.
As for the boiler pressure setting, it is necessary to set a slightly higher pressure value so that MI
control by the boiler system operation panel BP-201 (and the EJ-210) is not hindered.
To ensure that all conditions of boiler pressure settings shown below are satisfied, set the pressure
based on the boiler steam pressure switch or steam pressure sensor.

<Conditions for boiler pressure settings>

• Boiler high setting pressure - High setting differential
≥ Upper-limit pressure for MI control (Note 1) + Pressure loss (Note 2)
• Boiler low setting pressure - Low setting differential
≥ Upper-limit pressure for MI control (Note 1) + Pressure loss (Note 2)
• Boiler high setting pressure ≥ Boiler low setting pressure

Note 1: The upper-limit pressure for MI control indicates the upper limit of the pressure range in
which boiler combustion can be performed for MI control, and “Upper-limit pressure for MI
control” is equal to “Proportional distribution pressure”.

Note 2: If the high setting pressure is close to the upper-limit pressure for MI control, steam pressure
sensor error or loss of header or boiler pressure can cause the boiler to enter combustion
standby at the set boiler pressure.
In such a case, set the boiler high setting pressure higher than the upper-limit pressure for
MI control in view of the pressure loss and sensor error. As a guide, set the pressure to
0.049 MPa (7 PSI) or more.

4. OPERATION CHECK

Check the operation of the boiler operation terminal EJ-210.

Perform the operation check when all settings of the boiler system operation panel BP-201 are
complete (refer to the Start-up Operation Manual of the boiler system operation panel BP-201).
The operation check is performed using the display of the EJ-210 and the MOM communication
software. For details on the display items, refer to “2.2Explanation of Each Mode”.

4.1 Checking the Communication between the EJ-210 and the Boiler
Check the detection status of the input of each signal from the boiler, as well as the communication
status between the EJ-210 and the boiler. Set “Maintenance display” to “Yes”, and then check the
following.
If normal status cannot be confirmed, check that the concerned wiring is connected properly, and
the terminal block or connector is not disconnected or loose.

(1) Input status

Check that the input of each signal from the boiler can be detected correctly.
Check the check items specified in the table below based on “Input status (No.6 in Table 2-3)”
on the display (lower row) in the Status Monitor mode.
Table 4-1: List of input status check items

Note: When the boiler “OPERATION” switch is OFF, “0” is displayed for each input status.

(2) Communication status between the EJ-210 and the boiler

If communication is established between the EJ-210 and the boiler, check the communication
status.
In the case of a boiler with a BG-type, BL-type, and XJ1-type controller mounted, check (a)
through (c) below.
In the case of a boiler with a BK-type controller mounted, check (a) and (c) below.

(a) Checking communication error between the boiler and EJ-210 “C500-06”
Check that the EJ-210 does not judge a “C500-06” alarm in the Current Alarm Check
mode.
Note: “C500-06” is judged when there is a communication error for approx. 5 seconds
between the EJ-210 and the boiler.

(b) Checking the boiler steam pressure

In a boiler with a BG-type, BL-type, and XJ1-type controller mounted, check that the steam
pressure value displayed in “Boiler steam pressure (No.2 in Table 2-3)” on the display
(lower row) in the Status Monitor mode is same as the display pressure of the boiler.

27
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL
(c) Checking the number of communication errors between the EJ-210 and the boiler
Check that the value displayed in “Number of errors in communication with boiler (No.9 in
Table 2-3)” on the display (lower row) in the Status Monitor mode is a numeric value
between 0 and 99999, and that it is not counted up significantly.
Note 1: If a communication error occurs between the EJ-210 and the boiler, the number of
errors is counted up. Even in a normal case, the number of errors is counted up a
few times in one hour. Therefore, there is no problem if the number of count-ups in
5 minutes is 5 or less as a guide.
Note 2: “---” is displayed for a boiler other the boilers with a BG-type, BK-type, BL-type, and
XJ1-type controller mounted.

4.2 Checking the Communication between the EJ-210 and the Boiler System Operation
Panel BP-201
Check the communication status between the EJ-210 and the boiler system operation panel
BP-201.
Check the following points.

(1) MI control communication error “C590-15”

Check that the EJ-210 does not judge a “C590-15” alarm in the Current Alarm Check mode.
Note 1: The “C590-15” is judged when “MI control” is set to “Yes”, and communication with the
boiler system operation panel BP-201 cannot be established for 30 seconds.
Note 2: When the“C590-15” alarm is judged, the “C, ” flashes in the second digit from the
right in the upper row of the display until proper communication is restored, even if the
alarm display has been cleared. However, if the “M, ” is flashing (when
“Maintenance display” is set to “Yes”), the flashing display of “M, ” is given priority.

(2) Number of errors in communication with boiler system operation panel

Check that the value displayed in “Number of errors in communication with boiler system
operation panel (No. 8 in Table 2-3)” on the display (lower row) in the Status Monitor mode is a
numeric value between 0 and 99999, and is not counted up significantly.
Note 1: If a communication error occurs between the EJ-210 and the boiler system operation
panelBP-201, the number of errors is counted up.
While the power is supplied to the EJ-210, if the power is not supplied to the boiler
system operation panelBP-201 or the panel is in the state immediately after the start
of power supply, the number of errors is counted up.
Note 2: “---” is displayed when “MI control” is set to “No”.

28
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL
4.3 Checking the Operation of MI Control and Boiler Combustion Control
Check the operation of combustion control of the boiler when “MI control” is set to “Auto” or
“Manual”.
The status monitor of the boiler system operation panel BP-201 is used for checking the operation.
Connect a PC with the MOM communication software installed and display the status monitor, and
then check the operation according to the procedure described below.

<Reference: Example of status monitor display>

NOTE

As each boiler can be operated as desired while the operation check is performed, the
header pressure may drop.

29
MIURA_CONFIDENTIAL

(1) Operation check when “Auto” is set in the EJ-210

• On the status monitor display, check that “c: Combustion instruction” of the boiler system
operation panelBP-210 and “k: Combustion stage” of the boiler are matching.
Note: As for the combustion instruction, “Combustion 1” indicates the low-fire combustion or
normal combustion, “Combustion 2” indicates the high-fire combustion.
• Perform systemwide standby from the boiler system operation panel BP-201, and check that
“g: Systemwide standby” is “Standby”, and that “k: Combustion stage” is “Standby”.
Note: In addition, depending on the setting status, check “d: Control not applicable” (“Yes” is
displayed if the boiler is a spare boiler), “f: Pressure hold” (“Yes” is displayed if the
boiler is the target of pressure hold), and “h: Timer stop” (“Stop” is displayed if the boiler
is stopped with the program).

(2) Operation check when “Manual” is set in the EJ-210

• Check that “e: Auto combustion” is “Manual” on the status monitor.
• In the case of a boiler with a BG-type, BL-type, or XJ1-type controller mounted, or a boiler
with the EJ-210 on which a steam pressure sensor is mounted, check that operation switches
among standby, low-fire operation, and high-fire operation according to the pressure setting
value of the EJ-210(refer to “3.3.3Settings in the User Operation Mode (1)”).
• In the case of a boiler other than the above, check that operation switches among standby,
low-fire operation, and high-fire operation according to the pressure setting value of the boiler
(refer to “3.4Boiler Pressure Settings”).

After the completion of operation check, ensure that “Maintenance display” is set to “No”, and then
switch the display of the EJ-210 to the Status Monitor mode.

The above checks are performed individually for the EJ-210.

The checks for the MI control system must be performed in accordance with the Start-up Operation
Manual of the boiler system operation panel BP-201 after performing the above checks.
