creativity than reading. To what extent do you agree? Use reasons and specific
examples to explain your answer.
It is argued that in order to facilitate the child’s imagination and skills they should engage in more
enjoyable activities than reading. Although I acknowledge reading has its own merits, the benefits
children reap through participating in different fun-based activities are far more than simply reading
books.
Those who are in favour of reading claim that children can enhance their skills and creativity much
better than by doing any other activities. This is because most of the books are without illustrations
or images and the reader has to think, concentrate and fantasize the story in order to feel the
characters and comprehend the ideas of the writer. This as a result, leads to the sharpening of a
memory and better thinking ability. It is also argued that since books are written by experts who are
well aware of the needs of the children. They bring their expertise and generate books that are
especially designed for the children and have proper phrases and vocabulary, which is crucial for
their creative and intellectual learning.
To conclude, despite the benefits of reading for imagination, I would argue that a more active
undertaking has numerous advantages. Parents should encourage a balance but prioritize activities
in which they are interested and requires greater levels of engagement.
