TESTING PROCEDURES
CODE AEB170
Check that any tester switch is set to OFF and that the knobs are all at the minimum setting in
counter-clockwise direction apart from the LAMBDA that must be located at approximately half stroke.
Connect a product to be checked and a stepper motor to wiring no. 12.
Set the switch +12 V Batt. to ON. The central unit carries out the RESET and the motor closes
completely. Set the switch +12 V Sc to ON. On the tester the RED LED OUT BENZ. turns on.
By rotating the LAMBDA knob in both directions, you will see the CPU LED turn on and off.
This is necessary to check the correct connection of the oxygen sensor with the GASOLINE running
vehicle. As a matter of fact, this signal enters the product and comes out without being altered.
Set the switch +12 V GAS to ON. Set the switch RPM to ON. On the tester, the RED LED OUT BENZ.
turns off and the YELLOW LED CPU starts blinking, while on the product the RED LED turns on.
Rotate the T.P.S. knob in clockwise direction: the RED LED on the product starts blinking. By rotating
the LAMBDA knob in both directions, you can observe that by rotating it towards minimum the motor
moves opening the duct; vice versa, by rotating it towards maximum the motor closes and in the
approx. middle position it stops. If you connect a tester to the product, you can check the lambda
signal operation and the various functions connected to the tester use.
CODE AEB175
Check that any tester switch is set to OFF and that the knobs are all at the minimum setting in
counter-clockwise direction apart from the LAMBDA that must be located at approximately half stroke.
Connect a product to be checked, a stepper motor (supplied) and a commutator for central unit 175
(by ways of easiness, we will start from the switch set to GAS) to wiring no. 14 (20-way and 14-way
connectors). To the remaining 8-way connector that is present on the wire you must connect a testing
handheld by using the cable supplied with it. (In alternative to the handheld you can connect to a PC
by using the suitable serial interface).
Set the switch +12 V Batt. to ON. The central unit carries out a RESET by closing the whole duct of
the stepper motor. The handheld turns on. After the reset, you can connect to the central unit with
the handheld and operate in the various Parameter visualisation functions, Vehicle configuration, etc.
Set the switch +12 V Sc to ON. On the tester the RED OUT BENZ. and SERVICE LEDs turn on (the
SERVICE LED indicates the presence of supplying voltage for the level sensor supplied by the central
unit). Also the commutator that is set to the GASOLINE operation but has a blinking YELLOW LED is
ready for switching to the GAS operation.
The switching-on of the indicator LEDs on the commutator is determined by the position of the
rotating INDICATOR on the tester, therefore by selecting the various levels with the rotating indicator
you will obtain the turning on or off of the various LEDs.
By rotating the LAMBDA knob in both directions, you will see the CPU LED on the tester turn on and
off. This is necessary to check the correct connection of the oxygen sensor with the GASOLINE
running vehicle.
As a matter of fact, this signal enters the product and comes out without being altered. The oxygen
sensor value, like all the other parameters, can be checked by means of the handheld tester or the PC
in the Parameter Visualisation. Set the switch RPM to ON. Adjust the potentiometer RPM up to
measuring approx. 2000÷2500 RPM.
Rotate the potentiometer T.P.S. in clockwise direction up to approx. half stroke and then slowly in
counter-clockwise direction. You will observe that the central unit (and the commutator) switches to
the GAS operation mode. On the tester, the RED LED OUT BENZ. turns off, the GREEN LED OUT GAS
turns on and the YELLOW LED CPU starts blinking.
The stepper motor has reached the DEFAULT condition. Rotate the knob TPS in clockwise direction
so as to increase the value by thus exiting the minimum area. (Reach approx. 2,5 V).
By rotating the LAMBDA knob in both directions, you can observe that by rotating it towards minimum
the motor moves opening the duct; vice versa, by rotating it towards maximum the motor closes and
in the approx. middle position it stops.
If you carry out various oxygen sensor value changes from minimum to maximum and vice versa, you
can observe the central unit acquiring a new default. With the central unit in GAS operation, you can
carry out any test relating to the real operation of the central unit in the car.
Safety Car: by setting the switch RPM to OFF, the central unit must switch to GASOLINE, while by
setting it to ON the central unit switches again to GAS.
GAS/BENZINA (GASOLINE) switching by means of the commutator: you can check the correct
operation of the central unit in the various GAS/BENZINA (GASOLINE) switching phases.
Test the various possible configurations by selecting them from the Handheld Tester or the PC.
CODE AEB370

vehicle.
This signal enters the product and comes out without being altered.
Set the switch +12 V Gas to ON, by thus simulating the switching to GAS of the vehicle.
The LED CPU on the tester must remain turned off.
By rotating the LAMBDA knob on the tester in both directions, the three LEDs on the product turn on
according to the following logic:
- weak lambda signal (knob to minimum) = GREEN LED on;
- right lambda signal (knob to minimum) = YELLOW LED on;
- rich lambda signal (knob to minimum) = RED LED on.
CODE AEB552
