ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND SUBJECT COMBINATION PER FACULTY AND


PROGRAMMES

1) FACULTY OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES


a) B.Sc Nursing
The B.N.Sc. programme shall run for five academic years for UTME entry
candidates and four years for direct entry candidates.
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more
than 2 sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Biology and Physics. The U.T.M.E. Subjects are Use of English, Biology,
Chemistry and Physics.

Admission through DIRECT ENTRY (4 years)

All candidates for Direct Entry must satisfy the minimum entry requirement
as stated above. Furthermore, the candidate must be registered with the
Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria as RN/RM with at least 2 years
post-registration cognate experience.

Candidate with General Certificate of Education at Advance Level or its


equivalents in at least two subjects from the following: Biology, Chemistry,
Physics and Zoology

Candidate who has a good degree in any of the health-related subject


from any recognized University and has fulfilled the minimum entry
requirement of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Programme may
also be admitted.

b) B. Sc. Human Anatomy


Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more
than 2 sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Biology and Physics. The U.T.M.E. Subjects are Use of English, Biology,
Chemistry and Physics.

For admission into 200 level (Direct Entry), candidates should (in addition
to 5 SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English Language),
General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or its equivalent with
three passes at the Advanced Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in
one sitting.

c) B.Sc. Biochemistry
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more
than 2 sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Biology and Physics. The U.T.M.E. Subjects are Use of English, Biology,
Chemistry and Physics.

For admission into 200 level (Direct Entry), candidates should (in addition
to 5 SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English Language),
General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) or its equivalent with
three passes at the Advanced Level in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in
one sitting.

d) B.Sc. Physiotherapy
The Physiotherapy Degree programme training shall normally take 5 years
for candidates admitted through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination (UTME) and 4 years for candidates admitted by Direct Entry
(into 200 Level). The admission requirements are as follows.
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more
than 2 sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Biology and Physics. The U.T.M.E. Subjects are Use of English, Biology,
Chemistry and Physics.

For admission into 200 level (Direct Entry), candidates should (in addition
to 5 SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English Language):
obtain Physics, Chemistry and one other science subject in General
Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE ‘A’ Level) or its equivalent.

e) B. Sc Human Physiology
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more
than 2 sittings to include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry,
Biology and Physics. The U.T.M.E. Subjects are Use of English, Biology,
Chemistry and Physics.

For admission into 200 level (Direct Entry), candidates should in


addition to 5 SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English
Language, obtain Biology, Physics and Chemistry in General Certificate of
Education Advanced Level (GCE ‘A’ Level) or its equivalent.

f) B.MLS Medical Laboratory Science (5 years)

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Requirements


In addition to the University minimum entry requirements, candidates are
required to have five (5) “O” Level credits in English Language, Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and any other subject in not more
than 2 sittings.

UTME Subjects: English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Direct Entry Requirements (4-year programme)

In addition to the requirements above, Direct Entry applicant must hold a


diploma or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in Nursing,
Basic Sciences and Allied Health Science courses or hold a degree in
any Basic Science programmes. Applicants must also submit an official
transcript of academic record for past qualification from other institution.

g) B.Sc. Public Health (4 years)

Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Requirements


In addition to the University minimum entry requirements, candidates are
required to have five (5) “O” Level credits in English Language, Physics,
Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and any other subject in not more
than 2 sittings.

UTME Subjects: English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Direct Entry Requirements (3-year programme)


In addition to the requirements above, Direct Entry applicant must hold a
diploma or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution in Nursing,
Basic Sciences and Allied Health Science courses or hold a degree in
any Basic Science programmes. Applicants must also submit an official
transcript of academic record for past qualification from other institution.

2) FACULTY OF BUILT ENVIRONMENT STUDIES

a) BSc. Arch. Architecture


Programme Duration: 4 (Four) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:
1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in English Language,
Mathematics, Physics and any other two from Geography, Fine Art,
Woodwork, Technical Drawing, Biology or Economics in not more than
two sittings;
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Physics and any of Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Biology, Chemistry,
Economics, Geography and Building Construction.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):
Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
relevant subjects.

Candidates who hold the Ordinary National Diploma (OND/ND) in architecture or


the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Architecture, with an upper credit will be
considered for direct entry admission to 200 level provided they satisfy the
general entry requirements for admission on 100 level with respect to the Senior
Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent.

Under special circumstances, it may be possible to admit candidates from other


Universities or equivalent institutions to appropriate levels of the programme in
200 level or 300 level based on pairing of courses. Such cases will be treated on
merit provided they are also adjudged to have satisfied the general University
entry requirements.

b) BSc. Urban and Regional Planning


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions

Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements

For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:


1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) including English Language,
Mathematics and Economics/ Geography/ Fine art/Technical Drawing
/Civic Education/ Government, in not more than two sittings;
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Geography and any of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Agricultural
Science, Biology, Technical Drawing and Fine Art.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):
Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Physics and Chemistry.
Holders of OND/ND with overall Upper Credit passes or its equivalent in Town
Planning and related subjects are eligible for admission to 200 level of the
relevant programme provided that such candidates also satisfy the requirements
for admission through UTME.

Holder of Higher National Diploma with a minimum pass of Upper Credit,


may be admitted into 300 level.

c) BSc. Surveying and Geo-Informatics


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements.
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:
i) obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects
including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two of
Geography, Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Chemistry, Biology and
Economics in not more than 2 sittings; and
ii) score a minimum of 180 points in UTME in relevant Use of English,
Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Geography,
Economics, Fine Art, and Biology.

d) BSc. Quantity Surveying


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:

1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in English Language,


Mathematics, Physics and any other two subjects from Chemistry,
Economics, Geography, Technical Drawing, Biology, Wood Work, Further
Mathematics, Building Construction in not more than two sittings;
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Physics,
Mathematics and Chemistry/Geography/Fine Art/Biology/Economics.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):
Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
relevant subjects.
Holders of OND/ND with overall Upper Credit passes are eligible for admission to
200 level of the relevant programme provided that such candidates also satisfy
the requirements for admission through UTME .

For admission into 300 level (Direct entry), candidates should be holders of HND
in Quantity surveying with overall minimum of Upper Credit Pass to be eligible for
admission to 300 level provided that such candidates also satisfy the
requirements for admission through UTME.

e) BSc. Building Technology


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:

1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in English Language,


Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any one of the following subjects:
Economics, Geography, Building Construction, Technical Drawing,
Biology, Further Mathematics, Land Surveying, Data Processing,
Woodwork, Metal Work, Electronics and Basic Electricity, in not more than
two sittings;
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry/Fine Art/Biology/Economics/Geography.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):

Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
Mathematics, and one of Chemistry, physics, Geography and Economics.

Candidates who hold the Ordinary National Diploma (OND/ND) from recognised
polytechnic or College of Technology at Upper Credit level in Quantity Surveying,
Building, Architecture or Civil Engineering, are eligible for admission to 200 level
of the relevant programme provided that such candidates also satisfy the
requirements for admission through UTME.

f) BSc. Estate Management


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:
1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects including
English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two subjects
selected from Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography, Building
Construction, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Wood-Work, Computer
Studies/ICT, Block laying and concrete work, Plumbing and Pipe fitting,
Electrical Installation and Maintenance work, Marketing, and Painting and
Decoration in not more than two sittings;
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Economics and Biology/Physics/Chemistry/Geography/Technical Drawing
/Fine Art.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):
Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
Mathematics and Economics.

Holders of OND/ND with overall Upper Credit passes are eligible for admission to
200 level of the relevant programme provided that such candidates also satisfy
the requirements for admission through UTME.

Admission to 300 Level (Exemption from 200 Level and 300 Level)
Holders of Higher National Diploma (H.N.D) in the fields relevant to
Environmental Planning, Design and Management may be considered for
admission into 300 Level provided they meet all conditions stipulated above.

3) FACULTY OF ENGINEERING

a) Mechanical Engineering, B.Eng.


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:

1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects including English


Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other acceptable science
subject at not more than two sittings. It is also desirable for candidates to
pass Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing at credit level as added
advantage;
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):

Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
relevant subjects.

Holders of OND/ND or NCE with overall Upper Credit passes are eligible for
admission to 200 level of the relevant programme provided that such candidates
also satisfy the requirements for admission through UTME.

b) Civil Engineering, B.Eng.


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into the Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:

1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects including English


Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and other acceptable science
subject at not more than two sittings. It is also desirable for candidates to
pass Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing at credit level as added
advantage;

2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,


Physics and Chemistry.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):

Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
relevant subjects.

Holders of OND/ND or NCE with overall Upper Credit passes are eligible for
admission to 200 level of the relevant programme provided that such candidates
also satisfy the requirements for admission through UTME.

c) Computer Engineering, B.Eng.


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:

1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects including English


Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and other acceptable science
subject at not more than two sittings. It is also desirable for candidates to
pass Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing at credit level as an added
advantage.
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):

Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
relevant subjects.

Holders of OND/ND or NCE with overall Upper Credit passes are eligible for

d) Chemical Engineering, B.Eng.

e) Electrical & Electronics Engineering, B.Eng.


Programme Duration: 5 (Five) Academic Sessions
Admission Requirements
Generally, prospective students would need to satisfy the following requirements
before they are offered admission into Redeemer’s University.
For admission into 100 level (UTME), candidates should:

1. Obtain 5 credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects including English


Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and other acceptable science
subject at not more than two sittings. It is also desirable for candidates to
pass Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing at credit level as an added
advantage.
2. Score a minimum of 200 points in UTME in Use of English, Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry.

For admission into 200 level (direct entry), candidates should (in addition to 5
SSCE credits in relevant subjects, including English language):

Obtain at least 2 “A” level (or its equivalent) passes at GCE or its equivalent in
relevant subjects.

Holders of OND/ND or NCE with overall Upper Credit passes are eligible for
admission to 200 level of the relevant programme provided that such candidates
also satisfy the requirements for admission through UTME.

4) FACULTY OF HUMANITIES

a) B. A. English
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2
sittings to include English Language, Literature- in-English and at least a pass in
Mathematics. The UTME subjects are Use of English, Literature-in-English and
any two of Christian Religious Knowledge, Government, Economics, History,
Fine Arts and Geography.

Direct Entry: Two passes at the GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent, one of
which must be Literature-in-English, plus the necessary O’level requirements.

NCE holders with at least Merit in English as their teaching subject in NCE and
must have fulfilled the necessary O’level requirements.

Inter-University Transfer candidates must present their JAMB admission letter


to previous University, JAMB result slip, and O’level results amongst other
important documents required.

b) B. A. Theatre Arts
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2
sittings to include English Language, Literature-in-English, one other Arts subject
and at least a pass in Mathematics. The UTME subjects are Use of English,
Literature-in-English and any two of Christian Religious Knowledge, Government,
Economics, History, Fine Arts and Geography.
Direct Entry: Two passes at the GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent, one of
which must be Literature-in-English, plus the necessary O’level requirements.

Diploma in Theatre Arts, Performing Arts, Drama, Dance, Music, Mass


Communication, Cinematography, TV Production, Film/Motion Picture
Production, Public Relations and Law from a recognized institution, passed at
credit level. A pass at a merit level may be considered or National Diploma
passed with a minimum of lower credit.

Inter-University Transfer candidates must present their JAMB admission letter


to previous University, JAMB result slip, and O’level results amongst other
important documents required.

c) B. A. History and International Studies


Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2
sittings to include English Language, Government/History, three other Arts or
Social Science subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics. The UTME subjects
are Use of English, Government/History/Civic Education and any two of Christian

Religious Knowledge, Economics, Literature-in-English, Commerce and


Geography.
Direct Entry: Two passes at the GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent, one of
which must be History/Government, plus the necessary O’level requirements.

NCE holders must pass, at least at credit level and Diploma at Upper Credit
Level from any recognized institution.

Inter-University Transfer candidates must present their JAMB admission letter


to previous University, JAMB result slip, and O’level results amongst other
important documents required.

d) B. A. French
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2
sittings to include English Language, French, two other Arts subject and at least
a pass in Mathematics. The UTME subjects include Use of English, French, and
any two of Literature-in-English, Christian Religious Knowledge, Government,
History, Commerce, Civic Education, Geography, Economics, and Fine Art.
Direct Entry: Two passes at the GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent, one of
which must be French, plus the necessary O’level requirements, or the
Baccalaureate for a candidate coming from a French-speaking country who
satisfies the general requirements of admission to Redeemer’s University.

NCE holders with at least Merit in French as their teaching subject in NCE. A
credit pass in French at O’level may be waived if the applicant went through the
pre-NCE French course.

Inter-University Transfer candidates must present their JAMB admission letter


to previous University, JAMB result slip, and O’Level results amongst other
important documents required.

e) B. A. Philosophy
Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than
2sittings to include English Language, four other Arts or Social Science or
Science subjects and at least a pass in Mathematics. The UTME subjects include
Use of English and any three subjects from Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences.
Direct Entry: Two passes at the GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent, one of
which must be English, plus the necessary O’Level requirements
(SSCE/NECO/NABTEB).

Students with National Diploma in any field of endeavour with a minimum of


Upper Credit with the required credit passes in O’Level subjects
(SSCE/NECO/NABTEB) can also apply.

Inter-University Transfer candidates must present their JAMB admission letter


to previous University, JAMB result slip, and O’level results amongst other
important documents required.

f) B. A. Christian Religious Studies


Five (5) O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2
sittings to include English Language, Christian Religious Knowledge/Bible
Studies and two other Arts or Social Science or Science subjects and at least a
pass in Mathematics. The UTME subjects include Use of English, Christian
Religious Knowledge and any two of Literature-in-English, Government, History,
Civic Education, Economics, Fine Art and Economics.
Direct Entry: Two passes at the GCE (Advanced Level) or its equivalent, one of
which must be Christian Religious Knowledge, plus the necessary O’Level
requirements (SSCE/NECO/NABTEB). Candidates with a pass in two principal
subjects at the NCE level or a diploma in Theology or its equivalent from a
recognized University, Bible College or Seminary can apply.
Inter-University Transfer candidates must present their JAMB admission letter
to previous University, JAMB result slip, and O’level results amongst other
important documents required.

5) FACULTY OF LAW
Admission Requirements
The entry requirements shall be through any of the three under-listed options:
(a) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Mode
Five (5) credit passes in five (5) Arts or Social Sciences subjects in G.C.E.
O’Level, or NECO or WASC or SSS Certificate. Three (2) of the five (5) credit
passes must include English Language, Mathematics, and Literature-in-
English. The five (5) credit passes must be obtained at not more than two (2)
sittings. In addition, UTME candidates must have an acceptable pass in
UTME.

(b) Direct Entry Mode


Direct entry candidates must satisfy any of the followings:
i. A two or three-year Diploma in Law Certificate with Upper Credit or its
equivalent plus five (5) credit passes including English Language and
Literature in English at SSCE, NECO, GCE, WASC or their equivalent.
ii. Two (2) or Three (3) papers at Principal or Advanced Level in Higher
School Certificate in addition to Ordinary Level requirements stated
above.
iii. An acceptable First Degree: B.A., B.Sc., or their equivalents in
Second Class Honours Lower Division in addition to Ordinary Level
requirements.
iv. Inter-University Transfer
Students may transfer from Law Faculty of a recognized University
having successfully completed the first year and having met the
admission requirements. Candidate(s) must have a CGPA of at least
3.49.

UTME (JAMB) subjects for Faculty of Law


1. English Language
2. Literature-in-English
3. Two subjects in Arts or Social Sciences

AWARD is LL. B (Bachelor of Law)

6) FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

a) B. Sc. Accounting
Five O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2 sittings
to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two
subjects in Arts and Social Sciences. The UTME subjects include Use of English,
Mathematics and any two of Economics, Commerce, Financial Accounting,
Government, Biology, Christian Religious Knowledge, and Geography.
Direct Entry:
(i) Candidates must have passed at least two commercial or social science
subjects in the H.S.C. or G.C.E. ‘A’ Level, IJMB, JUPEB, etc., which must
include Accounting and Business, Management/Economics (The grade
point to be determined by the Department from time to time)
OR
(ii) National Diploma in Accounting, Banking, and Finance or Financial
studies or Business Administration with at least upper credit from
approved polytechnics or college of technology. Also, N.C.E. (Business
Education) in a related field.
OR

m) B. Sc. Economics
Five O/L credit passes in the SSCE (WAEC or NECO) at not more than 2 sittings
to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any other two
subjects in Arts and Social Sciences. The UTME subjects include Use of English,
Mathematics, Economics and any of Government, Christian Religious
Knowledge, Islamic Religious Knowledge, Geography, and Literature-in-English.
Direct Entry:
• Candidates must have passed at least two social science or related
subjects in the H.S.C or G.C.E A’ Level or Joint universities preliminary
Examinations by JUPEB or IJMB “A” Level
OR
• National Diploma in Accounting, Business, Finance, or any other relevant
discipline with a minimum of lower Credit from approved Polytechnics and
Colleges of Technology.
OR
• Final Certificate of relevant Professional bodies
OR
• University Diploma in Accounting, Business Management or Financial
Studies and other University Diploma acceptable to the Department with a
