Who is Daniela Souza, the Mexican who won gold at the World
Taekwondo Championships?
Daniela Souza won the gold medal for Mexico at the Guadalajara 2022 World Taekwondo
Championships by beating China's Guo Qing 2-1 in the 49 kilogram category. In this way, the
Tijuana native completes the first global tournament in which our country obtains two gold medals.

Daniela Souza was born in Tijuana, Baja California, on August 27, 1999 and for much of her
career she has dedicated herself to Taekwondo, a discipline that has left her, in addition to the
gold medal in the World Cup, the following achievements:
● Gold Medal at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru 2019 (-49 kg Category)
● Gold Medal at the Pan American Championships in Cancun, Mexico 2021 (-49 kg
Category)
● Gold Medal at the Pan American Championships in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Mexico is one of the countries with the greatest presence in this sport and since 1979 they have
already won six Taekwondo titles, including Daniela Souza, the most recent figure in the category.
