I. Background of the study:

Introduction

The demand for convenience in today’s fast-paced world has significantly influenced

consumer behavior, particularly among students, Gen Z, and coffee enthusiasts. As a

result, there is an increasing need for businesses to adapt and provide solutions that

cater to this demand. The development of Starbucks, a website designed to streamline

the coffee ordering process, emerged from this necessity. The project's inception was

driven by our own experiences as busy coffee lovers who desired a more convenient

way to enjoy our favorite beverages without the hassle of visiting physical stores.

Starbucks aims to address a common problem faced by many coffee shops: standing

out in a crowded market while providing a seamless online ordering experience.

Traditional coffee shops often rely heavily on in-person visits, which can be inconvenient

for customers with tight schedules. Moreover, existing online ordering platforms

frequently lack the user-friendly design and variety of options that appeal to younger,

tech-savvy customers. Recognizing these gaps, we set out to create a solution that not

only enhances the customer experience but also helps coffee shops manage their

operations more efficiently.

The development of Starbucks involved several key considerations. Firstly, the target

audience—students and Gen Z—are known for their preference for digital solutions and

their expectation of seamless, intuitive user experiences. Therefore, designing an

interface that is both visually appealing and easy to navigate was a priority. To ensure

that the website met these criteria, we conducted user testing sessions with individuals

from our target demographic. Their feedback was invaluable in shaping the final design,

ensuring it was both functional and attractive.

Secondly, the variety of coffee options available was a crucial aspect of the project.

Today's consumers have diverse tastes and preferences, and a one-size-fits-all

approach is no longer sufficient. Starbucks offers a wide range of coffee options,

including specialty drinks, seasonal offerings, and customizable choices, to cater to this

diversity. This feature not only sets Starbucks apart from competitors with limited menus

but also enhances customer satisfaction by providing more choices.

From a technical perspective, developing a reliable and efficient system for managing

orders was another significant challenge. The admin page of Starbucks was designed to

allow store managers to track and handle orders in real-time, streamlining the entire

process. By implementing robust backend processes and real-time order tracking, we

ensured that the system could handle orders quickly and accurately, thus improving

operational efficiency and reducing wait times for customers.

The motivation behind this project also stemmed from our personal experiences. As

coffee enthusiasts with busy schedules, we often found it challenging to find time to visit

coffee shops. This personal need for a more convenient solution inspired the creation of

Starbucks. Our goal was to develop a platform that would make it easier for people like

us to enjoy their favorite coffee without compromising on quality or convenience.

In summary, Starbucks was developed to address the growing demand for convenience

among coffee lovers, particularly students and Gen Z. By focusing on user-centric

design, a wide variety of coffee options, and efficient order management, Starbucks

aims to provide a seamless and enjoyable online ordering experience. The project not

only reflects our passion for coffee but also our commitment to delivering a solution that

meets the evolving needs of today’s consumers. Through Starbucks, we hope to

enhance the coffee ordering experience, making it more accessible and enjoyable for

everyone.

III. PROBLEM

Here are some potential problems we might encounter when using our web-

based coffee shop system:

1. User Adoption: Convincing users to switch from their current coffee ordering

habits to using an online platform may require effective marketing and incentives.

2. Technical Issues: Ensuring the website functions smoothly across different

devices and browsers, and handling potential issues like payment processing

errors.

3. Competition: Standing out in a competitive market with other coffee ordering

websites and physical coffee shops offering similar services.

4. User Experience: Balancing a visually appealing design with ease of use,

especially for a younger audience that values both aesthetics and functionality.

5. Supply Chain Management: Ensuring a steady supply of ingredients and

products to fulfill orders, especially during peak times or for seasonal offerings.

6. Data Security: Safeguarding customer information and payment details to

prevent data breaches and maintain trust.

7. Feedback and Iteration: Continuously gathering user feedback and

implementing improvements to meet evolving customer expectations.
