MY AIM IN LIFE

Aim simply means an ambition or a desire for one's future. It helps us in keeping our attention
focused on a particular target. It motivates us. It forces us to be hardworking, honest, punctual and
steadfast in our efforts. There are various aims set by people. Everyone has an aim in life. Mostly people
wish to be doctors, engineers, officers and industrialists It is because these are the paying professions.
As far as my aim in life is concerned, I wish to be a master of information technology. A great revolution
has been brought by information technology in various fields of life. It has modernized our life and
changed our attitude. It has converted the whole world into a global village. Instant and the swiftest
means of information technology have changed our life style altogether.
Why I want to be an expert in information technology. The reason is quite simple. First of all, it is the
need of the hour. This field is the most popular and emerging branch of the contemporary knowledge.
After the 11th September catastrophe of the USA, Islam has become the most widely discussed issue
throughout the world. Anti-Islamic propaganda campaign is flourishing through media. Being a Muslim,
it is my duty to defend my religion. This I can do effectively and forcefully by information technology.
This will help me in preaching my religion and dispelling misconceptions about it Then it
will become a source of my cordial and spiritual satisfaction. I have chosen this profession only by
keeping in view the serious and sensitive nature of the issue. By adopting this profession, I would be
able to refute all charges falsely levelled against Islam. Besides this, I would be able to attract the non-
Muslims towards Islam through the Internet and E-mails.
I work day and night to get my goal. I am sure that after four years, I will become a competent
master of information technology. I have special aptitude and talent for this field. I know it is difficult
and tough to hit my target but I still believe that there is nothing impossible in the world. May ALLAH
help me in achieving my aim and keeping my intentions in the right way. (Aameen)!

MY HOBBY
Hobby is something that we do for joy and delight. We live in a world of struggle and effort. Man has to
toil the whole day for his survival. He usually gets bored with this labour. He needs some pleasant
activity to lessen the burden of this boredom. Such an activity is called a hobby. Different people adopt
different hobbies for this purpose. Though I do many things during spare time, the thing that attracts me
the most is gardening. "God Himself first planted a garden. And it is the purest of human pleasures",
says F. Bacon. Therefore, this hobby is a source of joy and pleasure for me.
I live in a big city where life is very mechanical and noisy. In the city, there is no place of real peace and
calm. Therefore, I have made a lawn in front and a garden at the back of my house. In the garden, there
are many kinds of trees. Many kinds of flowers also bloom in the garden. These flowers show different
shades of colours. They give off sweet smell and present a beautiful view. Green trees, grassy lawn,
flowers of various colours and front wall covered with green mistletoe add to the beauty of my house.
The fluttering leaves and the dancing branches of the trees attract the viewers .
One feels happy when one hears the songs of the birds sitting in the branches of these trees. A fountain
plays in the middle of this garden. When it sprinkles its shower, it looks charming. I have also displayed
some twinkling lights on the branches of these trees. At night, when these lights twinkle, they present
an eye-catching view. The clean grass of the lawn also looks wonderful. In the morning, when I walk on
the grass wet with dew drops, I feel fresh and happy. When these dew drops shine in the sunshine, they
look like pearls I daily devote some of my time to the maintenance of my garden. I dig the beds of
flowers, trim the grass and apply manure to the plants. Sometimes, I whitewash the trunks of the trees,
spray the plants and prune the rose plants. I love to work and sit in my garden and lawn. My garden is a
source of peace and joy for me. I have also advised my friends to prepare such gardens in their houses.
Some of my friends have accepted my proposal and have grown plants in the lawns of their houses also.I
sometimes go there to advise and help them in the growth and maintenance of their gardens. I also
participate actively in the plantation scheme of the government every year. I have planted hundreds of
trees at different places throughout the city. After planting these trees, I also take care of them.

A VISIT TO A HISTORICAL PLACE

Historical heritage is a great asset of a country. The living nations always protect their historical
traditions. They feel proud of these works of genius. The Pakistani culture is rich in every respect. I love
the whole Pakistani culture. The things that attract me the most in this respect are the historical
buildings of Pakistan. Last summer, my friends and I made a programme to visit the historical places of
Lahore. We started from Multan and reached Lahore in the twilight () of evening. We spent a night in a
hotel.
The next day, we were very excited. We decided to visit the tomb of Jehangir. We hired a taxi and
reached the tomb. The four minarets of the tomb were presenting a very majestic view The tomb was
surrounded by a wall. Its entrance was very beautiful. There was a park inside the wall. The park was
full of the blooming flowers. They were spreading their fragrance all around. It was a very charming ‫ا‬
sight. There were some cool shady trees. Many birds were sitting in the twigs of these trees. They were
chirping. A whilte marble fountain was playing in front of the tomb. It was sprinkling its light shower.
The drizzling of drops produced a charming music. The place in the words of S. T. Coleridge was "A
savage place ---- holy and enchanted.
Soon afterwards, we entered the edifice that contains the grave of the emperor. There we pondered
over the mystery of death for some time. The room was decorated with colourful designs. We offered
"Fateha" and prayed to God to bless the emperor with eternal blessings. The building itself is a
wonderful piece of the Muslim architecture
We went up to the terrace and had a view of the city of Lahore. It was a beautiful sight. The cool breeze
and deep blue sky had a magical effect on us. We came down and sat under a tree to take some rest.
We ate some eatables and drank cold drinks. We made some of the floral and mosaic designs that we
had seen in the chamber of the tomb. In the evening we returned to our hotel. Our minds were full of
solemn thoughts. We were pondering over the mystery of death and the eternity of nature. We agreed
with Shakespeare:
In Nature's infinite book of secrecy A little I can read".

PATRIOTISM
Patriotism is a passion from which springs the love for one's country. It is but natural to love one's own
homeland . No doubt, a man becomes emotionally attached to the place where he lives. So, patriotism is
a natural passion.
If we analyse patriotism historically, we come to know that it is an inborn instinct. Adam loved his first
dwelling paradise. ALLAH says in the Holy Quran that the tribes and races of man have been made for
the purpose of recognition only, but man began to feel pride in his tribe, race, family and language.
Perhaps these are natural instincts But the most dominant instinct among these is the love for one's
country because it has a broader implementation
Patriotism assumes different shapes in different people. Some people love their language, nation, race
or country more than others. But every one has a tinge of patriotism in one sense or another.
As far as the Islamic concept of patriotism is concerned, it regards all the Muslims as a nations. It
maintains that every piece of land is the property of ALLAH. Every place and every country belongs to
the Muslims. Thus the Muslims become a universal community .So, the Islamic patriotism is very broad
and the wide in its application.
Patriotism should be promoted if it teaches the lesson of endurance and tolerance. But there are many
negative aspects associated with patriotism. Many wars have been fought in the name of patriotism.
Prejudice is one of the byproducts patriotism. Sometimes narrow-mindedness stands parallel to
patriotism. The so called patriot accepts nothing except what relates to his own self. He praises his
country and all its related things even if these do not deserves. He abhors others simply because they
do not belong to his country even if they deserve to be appreciated.
In short, we should have patriotism. It is not a bad thing. But approach should always be realistic It
should be humanistic and universal. It should be unlimited and not regional Rational patriotism is
better than sentimental one.
MY LAST DAY AT COLLEGE
A college is a place where young generation of a nation sees dreams of golden future. Some young boys
and girls work hard to materialize these dreams. In every case, a college student develops an emotional
and close association to college. He loves and likes every thing of it. All students become like a family in
college. They do not like to separate from one another. But a day comes when they have to leave the
college and everything about it. It is the time of real sadness for them. It is a very sad moment to go
through; but life continues.
I also remember my last day at college. It was a pleasant day of the 30th April 1986, but it was a gloomy
day for me I and all my friends were aware of the hard reality that we were about to leave the college
after all. This separation was so painful, sad and depressing for all of us. Throughout our college stay, we
had been so cheerful and excited We never entertained any idea that a day would come to separate us
like that. Some of us were so emotional that they started weeping. Some had tears in their eyes but they
controlled themselves. We decided to depart in the same joyful mood as we had been living for the last
four years.
First of all, we planned to meet all our teachers. We obtained their autographs in our diaries. After this
we had a round of the college to see every nook and corner of it Then we met our Vice Principal who
gave us our character certificates. We also met the Principal who advised us to be honest and hard
working in life. Then we went to a hotel. We dined together there. In the evening, we went to our
college hostel, packed our luggage and got ready to go to our homes. It was the time to say good bye to
one another. We embraced one another for the last time. Some of us could not control themselves and
began to weep bitterly Finally, we departed with the hope that we would meet again somewhere some
day. This is how I spent my last day at college.

WOMEN PLACE IN SOCIETY

Man and woman are the two parts of a whole. One is incomplete without the other. The Holy Quraan
says, "And We have created you in pairs" (male & female). The existence of one without the other
would be colourless and boring. The need of the one for the other is so great that it was honoured even
in heaven when Eve was created for Adam. Moreover the union of the both is necessary for human
survival . Besides this need, they are a complete source of joy and comfort for each other. It is said that
man is the crown of the universe but it is woman who adorns this crown with her charms. That is what
Milton asserts in Paradise Lost: O fairest of creation Last and best Of all God's works!"
In Islamic society, women are treated with utmost honour. She has the honour of being a mother or a
wife or a sister or a daughter. No other religion gives her as much importance as Islam does. The holy
prophet in his last address asked the muslims to treat women and laves kindly. As a mother, she enjoys
matchless honour. The Holy Prophet said , "Verily the heaven lies under thy mother's feet". In our
society, women are not respected and honoured especially in villages. In villages, they do not even get
the chances of education. They have to work in the fields with men. Their life in villages is hard.
In cities, most of the women enjoy the opportunities of education. Their life is as much -better as that
of men. They can take part in every kind of activity. They are allowed to go to colleges, offices and
universities. They even can compete with men in elections , In many countries of the world, they have
proved their skills. As far as the liberty of women is concerned, they should be allowed to take part in all
kinds of political, social, economic and cultural activities. But they should also realize their duty as
Muslim women. Islam imposes upon them certain restrictions For example, they should wear veil . They
should not violate the golden principles of Islam. Islam does not forbid them to get education and work
for the progress of their country. Women are allowed to earn money and struggle to get an honourable
status in society. But sometimes, in their unjustifiable freedom, they ignore their duties as Muslim
women. Sometimes like the European women, they speak against the universal principles of Islam. Then
they cannot be overlooked. They must realize their duty as the Pakistani and Muslim women.
It is admitted that women are as important as men. They should be given every chance for the
betterment of themselves and society. Without their role, the speed of the development of the country
would be very slow. They should come out to work with their men but at the same time they should be
true Muslims as well.
It would not be out of place to ask women not to neglect their duties at home. She should also good
mother, a loving wife, an ideal housekeeper and a matchless patriot. In this regard her duty is two-fold
She will have to perform her duties in the house as well as outside the house.

MY FIRST DAY AT COLLEGE

Sweet memories are like the sweet flowers. They become a source of happiness in the depressing
drama of life. Usually, hard experiences teach us wisdom. The person who learns nothing from the dark
past should expect nothing from the bright future. Though the memory of my first day at college is a bit
bitter , it is shining in my mind's eye like the smiling tears.
It was a sunny day of spring. I with my friends went to the college for the first time. We were excited
and eager for learning. Still we were a furlong away from our college when a group of horrified students
told us that some senior students were waiting for new comers to make a fool of them. We began to
tremble with fear. We turned pale. We could not utter a word.
They told us that the seniors wanted to adorn the students of the first year with different colours, rags ,
and the garlands of old shoes. Our blooming faces fell down as the blooming flowers scatter in a heavy
rain.
Eventually , the president of the college union appeared there like a sudden wave of grace. We told him
our problem. He smiled and encouraged us to face the situation. However, he helped us and escorted
us to the gate of the college. He asked the other students not to harass us. We became happy to be safe
so nicely.
We came to the play ground. The naughty senior students reached there. They began to make a fool of
us. We reminded them of the advice of the president of the college union. They laughed and asked me
to put on a tattered shirt. I did so. They displayed a placard at the chest of my friend. The word
"scarecrow was written on it. A boy with a wreath of old shoes advanced to a new comer. He observing
the situation minutely ran in one direction. Some boys ran after him. We took advantage of the
situation and ran in the opposite direction. Some other boys ran after us. To our bad luck our path
ended on the verge of a field soggy with the recent irrigation. We hesitated a moment but horrified by
the chasing party, we jumped onto the sodden field. The senior students stopped at the brink and
laughed loudly to see us in this crises. We were however relaxed to be away from the grave risk. How
we reached our houses is another story to tell. It is how I spent my first day at college.
MY HERO IN HISTORY
See the conquering hero comes!
Sound the trumpets, beat the drums/ [Thomas Morrell]
A hero is a man of outstanding character and matchless genius must be a man of unique qualities.
Though the Muslim history is full of great men, my hero in history is Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali
Jinnah. I think, he is really a man worthy of the title 'hero'
Muhammad Ali Jinnah was born on 25 December, 1876. He received his early education from his native
city. After passing his matriculation examination, he went to England for higher education. He was a
born-fighter. His motto was "Work, work and more work'. After his return from England, he started
practising as a lawyer in Bombay. He went on struggling for years. At last, he became one of the leading
lawyers of India.
Then he took keen interest in politics. He joined the Indian National Congress in 1906 and worked for
the Hindu-Muslim unity. But soon, he realized that the Indian National Congress was striving for the
rights of the Hindus only. Therefore, he left the Indian National Congress and joined the Muslim League
in 1913. Then he demanded a separate homeland for the Muslims of India.
The Quaid-e-Azam proved that the Muslims and the Hindus were poles apart. They could not live
together like a single nation. Therefore, he demanded an independent homeland for the Muslims so
that they could live peacefully according to their own Islamic traditions
The Quaid-e-Azam worked hard for the establishment of Pakistan. Overwork had a bad effect on his
health. His doctors advised him to stop working hard. But he thought that his work was more important
than his health. Finally, he succeeded in his efforts and Pakistan came into existence on 14the August
1947.
Jinnah became the first governor general of Pakistan. He proved to be a successful ruler Jinnah's hard
work earned him the title 'Quaid-e-Azam'. He had been suffering from tuberculosis since long. Only his
sister and few close friends were aware of his illness. His health failed under the heavy pressure of work
and ultimately he died on Sept. 11, 1948. He was buried at Karachi.

Daily his own heart he eats. [Emerson: Heroism
