CAUTION!
This equipment can be utilized to its full extent only if the user is familiar with its operation and
understands how to perform maintenance work on the stand. Therefore, the user manual must
be carefully studied before operation.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS
The power cable must be connected to the generator so that the wall stand shall be in
operation only when the generator is powered on.
All interconnection cables and wires have to be UL certified (where applicable) and must
comply with the NEC and local codes. The strain relief, bushing and wiring methods of these
cables and wires must comply with the NEC, and local codes.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Only trained service personnel are permitted to remove covers and panels from the
equipment. The provisions of the local standards and electrical codes shall be conformed to.
• The WS-99 is directly connected to the generator, which involves high-voltage (both
AC and DC) and high-energy components capable of causing serious injury or death. In
some cases, the high voltage may be present even after disconnecting the generator
from the mains. Extreme caution must be exercised during installation, servicing and
operation.
• Do not use the equipment in the presence of flammable anesthetics, explosion may
occur.
• Before disinfecting or cleaning the unit, the power shall be turned off and kept off until
the disinfecting or cleaning material has evaporated.
USE OF ACCESSORIES
All accessories used with the wall stand (including, but not limited to X-ray tubes and
collimators) have to be UL (CE) recognized for medical application.
3 SPECIFICATIONS
The WS 99 is a hospital grade radiographic Bucky stand with electrical brake release control for
easy vertical positioning. Designed to perform a wide range of examinations, it supports either a
17” or 36” Bucky or Grid Cabinet. It is fully counterbalanced. Using a special bearing system results
in smooth vertical travel from 15” to 73.5”.
4 SHIPPING ARRANGEMENT
The WS 99 is professionally packed for shipping in a crate or in a box. The stand is not completely
assembled. The bucky carriage, the weight compartmentand the rope assembly are removed
from the column.
If the wall stand is ordered as a part of a complete system than the wall stand and its accessories
may be packed along with the tube stand. For details, refer to the wall stand manual.
The WS 99 wall stand is a heavy object. Lift and move with help.
CAUTION!
• remove the four top block securing nuts (refer to figure below)
• lift out the stand (column) and move it to the x-ray room
• place the column horizontally on a soft surface to prevent damage
• clean any grease or dust from the unit, accumulated during transportation
• remove the accessory boxes and the weight compartment from the crate
6 ROOM PREPARATION
Plan a layout and prepare the x-ray room before starting the installation. Refer to the attached
dimensional drawings of the wall stand. (DD-33-13)
If the wall stand is not installed with components that are made by Control-X Medical, Inc., please
refer to the original manufacturer’s specification.
Inspect the room before installation. If the condition of the wall and the floor is not suitable for
leveling and holding the stand, corrective action shall be taken (putting a brace between the studs
shall be considered). The final location of the stand shall be predetermined before starting the
installation. With overhead support the center wall stand can be offset from the centerline of the
table. For complete system installation and site planning refer to the appropriate room layout
drawing.

Floor Anchor
Wall-stand column
Counter weight compartment with weights
Vertical carriage assembly (vertical carriage, Bucky, pulley assembly, wire ropes, Bucky, front
panel, side rails and wire hose assembly).
− Place the column horizontally on a soft surface to prevent damage.
− Remove the red shipping brackets from the head and the foot end.
− Slide the carriage into the column’s rail with the ropes facing the head end. (The pulley and a
pair of wire ropes are already attached to the vertical carriage.)
− Push the counter weight compartment halfway into the column.
− Remove the middle-supporting pin of the cable-connecting bracket and align the holes of the
counter-weight container and the cable-connecting bracket.
− Pin the container and the bracket together and secure it with “C” clip.
− Push the weight cabinet forward all the way to the bottom.
(Remove the slacks from the cable and make sure they are staying in the pulley groves while
moving the cabinet.)
− Locate the wall-mounting brackets and install them. Now the stand is assembled and ready to
be installed.
− Move the wall stand close to its final location and carefully raise it
− Position the stand in such a way that the Bucky assembly will face away from the wall.
Temporarily mount the stand to wall. Verify that the wire cables are in the pulley grooves.
− Insert the cassette tray into the Bucky
− If further balancing is required, remove the weight cabinet access panel from rear of the
column and add or remove the proper amount of weight bars.
− Restore the access panel.
Note: To be able to junction the box with a conduit inside the wall, first fish through the
cables to their final destination.
− Position the box and mark the mounting holes on the wall.
− Install the anchors and mount the box on the wall.
Note: If raceway is used install the box first and then run the cables.
8 ALIGNMENT PROCEDURES
− Install the generator per the “instructions to assembler” section of the generator manual.
Position the wall mounted film holder and the table, but do not anchor them permanently.
− Perform verification testing and alignment adjustments as instructed in the manuals for the x-
ray tube, collimator and the generator.
Before proceeding with the wall stand alignment it is necessary that the collimator light field
and the x-ray field coincide within the specified limits. Also it is necessary to perform the
following adjustments before aligning the wall stand:
- tube alignment around the transversal axis
- tube alignment around the horizontal axis
8.1 Positioning the wall receptor parallel with the tube stand vertical travel
− Move the vertical carriage and the wall receptor to their highest position and rotate the x-ray
tube (90°) toward the wall receptor.
− Move the top portion of the stand to align with the cross-hair shadow. Repeat the same
procedure with the receptor in the lowest position.
− Verify that the receptor is centered within 1/8-inch along the vertical travel.
− When the wall receptor is parallel with the wall stand’s vertical travel and is in the correct
location, anchor the wall stand to the floor and the wall.
9 MAINTENANCE
Ο Each failing component, which effects the safe operation of the equipment,
shall be replaced with original spare parts.
WARNING!
The WS 99 requires regular maintenance to ensure safe operation and increase the operating life
of the equipment. The operator shall check the equipment for functional defects or any deviation
from the normal operation. In case of any functional defect or any deviation, the unit shall be
turned off and a professional service company shall be notified. The equipment shall not be used
until the defect is repaired.
9.4 Cleaning
The WS 99 does not require special cleaning or sterilization. However, it is recommended to clean
the panel top and brake release handle from time to time. For cleaning you may use mild soapy
water or an equivalent cleaning solution. Apply some solution with paper towel and wipe down
the surface. If for some reason the handle requires sterilization you may use rubbing alcohol.
9.5 Disinfection
Only disinfecting methods shall be used that correspond to the relevant regulations and rules as
well as the protection from explosion.
The use of disinfecting spray is not recommended because it can get inside the equipment.
